Well, I'm sold! By all appearances easily the best large spaceship since the Deep Freeze Defender. Any word or hint at all on its U.S. release???
-
A piece of LEGO history to be certain, of which I have several. The red spaceman appeared in most Space sets from late 1978 on through much of the 80's, though IMO his most notable appearance being with the 497/928 Galaxy Explorer. A simple design, but one which worked to great effect in its day.

Two cool ships for a reasonable price. Apart from the Skull Twins the jewel element in this set for myself is that big trans-dark blue windscreen. Though not perfect, and very sticker heavy, this set looks over all better IMO than anything in Mars Mission save the Ultra-Drill Walker. Now, if only this and Galactic Enforcer would come to the United States...
-
Hopefully your right. If not by over the counter or LEGO S@H, then via Bricklink or Ebay. Either way I will be getting my Hyperspeed Pursuit and Galactic Enforcer...
-
Well here you go with regard to the US release of Hyperspeed Pursuit and Galactic Enforcer... So what do we do now, just wait and hope I suppose? Of course if nothing else there is the Bricklink or Ebay option, though I'd much rather aquire the sets through official channels and vendors. However chances are they'll be coming, and this is just the typical LEGO response for products currently not on shelves.

Still not available in the United States. Will contact LEGO customer service...

Arrrgh! My two most anticipated sets are going to miss my birthday!

Well, your mostly paying for the minifig, packaging and instruction sheet, you have to look at the poor excuse for a speeder craft as just an excessory. The minifig not being interesting or reusable is a personal taste, I actually kinda like it. Though I'll agree impulse sets generally aren't that economical for the amount of Lego you get for your money, and this one's no exception. Anyway, ONLY 14 pieces??? Could this be the smallest Space set LEGO ever released?
-
Awww, what a cute yet cool little set! I bet I could assemble this thing in its bag without looking at the instructions.

If your short on standard black helmets, theres always Pick A Brick (Element ID: 4298619) and Bricklink.
-
Giving their size, I'll have to bet Hyperspeed Pursuit and Galactic Enforcer are very complex sets to manufacture (more parts bags per box, etc), thus taking longer to produce. I suppose its more about having an adequate supply on hand to meet demand.

Actually I had just the blue logo, then I edited it in MS Paint after you asked for red.

They better be made available in the USA, and soon!

Well, LEGO Star Wars only came out in 1999, which agreeably was a step forward in realism for space sets. But before then, particularly when I grew up (the 80's), those space lines of past years were all we had for space themed Lego. M:Tron, released in 1990 was the first space line to actually use trans-neon bricks, before then standard colors were used in LEGO Space. The funny thing is as Mars Mission had way-too-many-stickers as you put it, the human sets although orange, didn't actually use trans-neon in large amounts. But back in the 90's when trans-neon was used heavily for space, Lego was really light on stickers. But I also like this set as you do. I guess its up to the beholder's eye whether such concepts are bad or not...

Good concept, as much as the Space Police theme is, but this is one of those sets where a few more pieces would of gone a long way toward its full realization. Far from perfect to be certain, but I'll still buy it. Either I'll build it and mod it to something closer to ideal form as I often do, or just commit it to the parts box. But the major sets, Hyperspeed Pursuit and Galactic Enforcer, are what I'm most looking forward to.

I've seen the pictures too, and it does look very promising to me.

The DFD is an incredibly well designed set, and certainly worth having even if one is not into the ice planet theme or its color scheme. I think LEGO should revisit that design for Space Police 3 in 2010 if the Galactic Enforcer doesn't turn out to be nearly as good, or if they can't design another large spacecraft that equals in playability.

The Deep Freeze Defender is one of those few sets I have as much fun playing with afterward as I had putting it together: If it came with actual engines it would of been perfect, so I vote 9.5/10. Too bad the Mars Mission designers couldn't equal its play experience level with the MX-81 Hypersonic Operations Aircraft.

I agree. This is what passed for LEGO Space robots before Spyrius: No Exo-Force back in those days...

Here's that topic. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=24982

The two factions couldn't be more different to be sure, with the aliens being all cool and cyberpunk, and the Space Police being more traditional Space with that making them look all hum-drum and boring to some. At first I felt the aliens and their vehicles were just too radical and out there, but the more I study the pics, they more their sets and figs grow on me. Actually the entire theme is very well executed on the whole, much better than Mars Mission imo, though I know some have differing views on that score. However the Space Police are still my favorite, because of my age more than anything I suppose, but I still plan to buy every set in the theme.

Fun With Mars Mission 7695 MX-11 Astro Fighter
Spacefan replied to dieselboy m's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
One of the least exciting sets LEGO has ever released, to me anyway, but I'm happy someone out there likes it. R.I.P Mars Mission. -
Toy Fair 09 is here and judging by these images Space Police is looking great to me from all angles. I can say with certainty it is the best conceived line to wear the Space Police name. This could end up being one of the all time classic themes from LEGO, and not only in Space. As for the statue in the GE set, how touching and thoughtful TLG is, that just proves they are thinking of us AFOL fans of Space. The Galactic Enforcer is looking awesome too, its clear much influence was taken from the Galactic Mediator (Space Police 2) in its development and looks even bigger in size, certainly worth the $100 US to me, Large interior, trans-dark blue windscreens and all. Though again it appears LEGO's over all pricing has been revised upward for the 2009 product year, just what all buyers of LEGO need in these economically stressed times.
