  1. I really like this, especially the way you managed to get a convincing airfoil into the main wings. I also like the dual horizontal stabs. The recessed low profile canopy adds to the aerodynamic look of the fuselage, giving it the appearance of something designed for speed.
  2. I noticed this morning that i had a piece that LDD would remove upon loading. This was the tap to microphone I used in the greebling, I've redone that section of greebling and uploaded a newer version as of a few minutes ago. The file on MOCPages now loads error free.
  3. Thanks all for the comments, I've addressed a couple of them below: Here is a shot of the method I used. The only downside to this approach is that the entire centre section of the fuselage also slides forward with the cockpit. I won't be able to use this colour scheme but I am considering bricklink'ing for a few of the elements I am shy on for this and putting it together. I can probably pull this off in whites and reds though (have plenty in the way of those 2 colours). I picked these particular colours just to set it apart from a lot of common colours used. I'm thinking there wouldn't be much of a swooshable factor to this model, some of the connections may not hold up to active play such as the forward hard point supporting structure. It would do well as a static model in a diorama though .... hmmmm .... diorama .... will have to think on this
  4. Its basic sleek design definitely lends towards the "fast" description, nice.
  5. I like this rendition, the green isn't horrible and I like the fact that the engines are fully recessed now.
  6. (all photo links go to flickr) The combined influences of SSUN (Sol System United Navy) were charged with the development of a new Multirole Fighter that's not only suitable for deployment as a Zero gravity attack platform but also up to the vigors of atmospheric missions. The X-03 Helios was the result of this joint effort. Armed with the newest weapons, this platform is able to attain a true multirole rating. Manoeuvrable enough for ship to ship combat with the latest in combination mounted armaments, the sustained plasma beam coupled with a 20mm machine gun which can be fired in either combined or selectable modes. When it comes to ship to ship fighting the Helios carries the latest generation of holographic guided technology in the MK60 Meteor Missile. When it comes to either Air to ground or Capital Ship busting the new attack platform can also carry a couple of GBU-109's, now rated for longer range attacks, (actual distance currently classified). SSUN has chosen this platform to also debut the new MK1 MDC (Mass Driver Autocannon); little is known about this weapon but is rumored to be a very effective weapon against Capital Ships and entrenched gound based positions. Locked and loaded for action This is my 1st attempt at a proper slide forward cockpit View of the cockpit and seating Aft view of the thrusters View of the engine coupling with the Mass Canon Driver removed to show detail. LDD file can be found here at my MOCpages (be patient, they are having post hurricane server issues, you may need to refresh the page a few times). Thanks for looking C+C always welcome
  7. I borrowed the wing connection mechanic's idea from a different rendition, one I came across a while ago. I wish I could find it again so I could give credit where it's due but for the life of me I've not been able to come across it again. Should anyone recognize the pivot point approach I've used please drop me a note as I want to give credit where its due. I went through three or four incarnations of what I thought the cockpit canopy should look like and sadly this was the best I could come up with at this scale. I'm still not 100% happy with it but anything else I could come up with was even worse. I could find very little in reference to the underside of the T-47 but what little I could find appeared to show an intake scoop towards the aft so I've tried my best to model this as well. More pics and file download on my MocPages account.
  8. After some looking I did find it, but I guess the reason I never noticed it before this is is that it was a very grayed out option (blended in with the background a little too much for these tired eyes). Turns out I have to have high quality for the brick palette checked as a precursor to being able to show the brick lines on a model - which to me seems like an odd choice since I don't care how well rendered the palette is vs the model I'm building in the scene but I guess there must be a reason behind it. I just don't like turning system overhead over to something that doesn't really need it. Thanks for the tip as you got me looking a lot closer
  9. How does one configure so that brick separation is evident? A good example here is bbqqq's LDD screen shot of the Star Destroyer above. Even with High Quality rendering set with maximum shading I don't get any indication of brick lines, they all meld together. Is this a limitation of my resolution (1920x1080) or how well my video card renders 3d (radeon HD 6740M)? Screen shots aside, I don't even get this level of detail within LDD while working.
  10. This is amazing, great job. Even the lighting used in the photos are well done. I noticed you're using a modified midi scale falcon in this, this too looks great - much improved over the original. I'm in awe over the scale and detail of this project ...
  11. In the last 4 weeks: SW Advent 8099 Midi ISD 9493 X-Wing (also own previous 6212) 9490 Droid escape All from the local lego store but for 8099, had to resort to ebay for this one.
  12. Hi Folks, I'm elevating my standing from lurker to poster. We live in Burnaby, BC, Canada ... for those not familiar just think Vancouver (close enough). I've been doing the lego thing since I was a wee lad (40ish years ago) and have been trying to get a little more creative and develop my skills these last couple of years. I'm now even more motivated in that direction since my son has started showing more interest in building with me rather than 'playing' (read as disassembling) with what I build for either myself or for him. My interests primarily lay in Sci-Fi themes but I also like vehicles (contemporary and vintage) as well as aircraft. I'm open to pretty much any scale, though the really big stuff will probably exist only as LDD files due to a lack of space .... this probably explains my recent attraction to mini scale models. My wife also enjoys lego and is more into village and buildings in the creator line (she doesn't scratch build yet but does like to do the kits). My son's interests seem to sit with Ninjago and anything that gets him an interesting minifig (he's 9 so I think thats pretty age appropriate at this stage). All in all we are a very legocentric family and even made a journey down south to Legoland Carlsbad this past spring and Yay! for a lego store opening up locally this past year :) I'm still feeling my way around digital designer though I'm getting the hang of that I think - I've recently finished a modification to the truck from the Winter Village Post Office set as well as a micro F-14 moc, I'll post both of these once I figure out the right forums. I've also just installed LDraw .... that one crossed my eyes and I'm thinking there is a steep learning curve to this one that will keep my nights occupied for months to come 0.o Thats pretty much me (and my family) in an itty bitty intro type nutshell, see you out there :) D.
