But I guess the bandits would have ambushed me right away instead of making up lies. I am just one man, after all." The young man measured them with his eyes. He lowered his weapons, but did not sheath them. "You six look like able warriors, and I myself am no rookie with these katanas. What do you say, will you join forces with me to get rid of the 108 pests infesting this region?"

He might even help us out in battles if we do that, and even if we don't, it would be a small price to pay... I just need 4 gold from someone and I can do the bidding, so is anyone up for that?"

Let's see what we have here." Leaving the two scientists busy at work, the heroes ventured further away from the Destiny's Bounty. It didn't take long for Hybros to track down the young Ji Pei. His footsteps were imprinted on the muddy ground, and some branches were broken on the path he had taken. They eventually found him high up on a hilltop, gazing down at the Pagoda of Nine Elements. Hearing the heroes approach, Jun Ji Pei spun around drawing his two katanas from his back in the same motion. "Don't think you can get me alive, filthy bandits!", the blue-skinned warrior shouted. It was time for the party to try to convince Jun that they were there to help.
  5. I'm sorry that the brokedness of the Shaman class came out this way, but the battle has been played by the rules. If the party is defeated, the quest will end abruptly, and Etzel can put it up to the Quest Board again (maybe skipping to solving the murder mystery this time), if he so wants. It would be a damn shame not to see the quest finished, after all... We just have to do it by the book, or else the rules are meaningless. I will fix Shaman as soon as possible, though.

  7. The voyage across the skies took about a week. The airship made stops at Charis, Alexandria and Salmanda on the way to reload the ether engines and stock up supplies before it crossed the Jade Sea and arrived above Xu. It was an afternoon when they finally arrived to the valleys of Hoshin, and immediately the heroes spotted the great nine-story pagoda built on a mountainside. The airship passed it by close enough for them to marvel at the size and foreign architecture. On the opposite side of the valley Vincent spotted something red peeking among the trees. "Oh my, I hope that's not..." The old inventor's fear came true as the Destiny's Bounty landed next to the wreckage of Jun's private vessel. The small airship had crashed through the trees, breaking beyond repair. "Jun..." "I hope this mission hasn't ended before it even began... This is no way for a valiant warrior such as Jun to go!" The heroes searched the wreckage and the surroundings, but found no body. Maybe Jun was somewhere nearby?   9. I've been contemplating on including claws as one of the official weapon types, but so far my claw-type weapons (Demonic Scissors, at least) have been slotted as daggers. If I were to dedice on who gets to use claws, I would say rogues, barbarians and beast warriors. Maybe harlots as well, since they have such a low weapon selection - and claws are kinda kinky, aren't they?

Did we even get a confirmation that they were sold as slaves in the first place? We have other objectives as well, such as finding the missing archeologist, going to that marked spot on the map, and doing whatever that divinity called Pseudos wants us to do. As much as I want to save these people from slavery, we cannot afford them, and attacking the guards up front will just make us fail our quest. Zoe, if you don't recognize any of these slaves as the missing watchmen, then I say we should leave, and perhaps come back later to see if the situation has changed."
  11. "Take care, champions of Heroica, and please bring my son back to me with all of his pride and vigour." The heroes followed the inventor and his assistant out of the palace and into a carriage. The wagon took them outside the city walls into a large warehouse. Inside there was a vast hall where an entire ship was waiting for them. A wooden pier was constructed around the vessel, and a small plank connected the pier to the ship. "Behold, the Destiny's Bounty! It is actually the sixteenth airship carrying that name, but it has lasted much longer than any of the previous ones. It is perfectly safe, trust me!" "By my calculations there is a 74% chance that we will make it to Xu in one piece!" Miss Gioconda shouted from the upper deck. "Shush, you!" "Sorry, Monsignore! Everything seems to be in order, we are ready to set sail!" One by one, the heroes walked the plank that lead to the deck of the airship. There were all sorts of gears and swivels visible on the deck, and it was still a complete mystery how the contraption could ever fly. Hybros and Christopher had seen it with their own eyes at Jolly Roger's Grotto, but now they would get to experience it first-hand. "All aboard! Open the ceiling hatch!" Miss Gioconda shouted to the servants on the pier. Suddenly daylight flooded the hall as the ceiling creaked open above them. "Hold on tight, here we go!" shouted Vincent Legonardo and pulled a large lever that opened the sails. At the same time the machines on the back let out a great big roar, and the whole ship shook and trembled. Before they knew it, the airship had risen through the roof and over the warehouse, even above the trees. The heroes could see the city of Eubric spreading in the horizon, and in no time they could make out the mountains beyond it. Soon they saw the entire Uland and all the other Free Islands below them, floating in the glimmering Crystalline Sea. They were actually flying! "Oh well, the technology required for the neurored lenses is quite simplistic, I must confess... Nothing compared to my visiorama goggles, at least. Jun's lenses can only show the difference of light and darkness, so the poor boy is color-blind." Christopher's diplomatic approach made Miss Gioconda loosen up a bit - and the paladin's good looks didn't hurt, either. "Well, it was a long time ago. I barely remember it anymore, he he... Anyway, are you ready to board now? Sir Christopher, I can give you a tour on the many features of the Destiny's Bounty... if you wish." "Mr. Legonardo has the coordinates to the Hoshin region, and you can easily see the pagoda when you arrive. It is nine floors tall, so it stands out like a beacon. Jun knows his way around the insides of the tower, as he trained there for five years."
