  1. QM Note: The results of the first round took me several hours to calculate, so unfortunately I cannot do the second round today, as I need to go to bed soon to get up for work early. That means you will have another 15 hours or so to finetune your strategy. Don't be afraid to use conditional actions, they may save you.

  5. Someone's still bitter, huh? I don't think Tesni actually spent money on anything else but imbuing the Fiery Sawblade with a Ruby, giving it the 8x multiplier against enemies weak to fire. And since the Double Spears had two types weak to fire, and Tesni was encouraged, she got the awesome multiplier (8x8x2=128). And since it was a Shield-skill on top of that, she had 4xWP+Level base attack. The odds were ever in her favour, this time.

Sarge hides from the King Vermin, but comes out of the shadows to strike one more rat dead and severly wound another. Jensen and Jeaux heal themselves while Heckz's spell takes care of the wounded rat. The two other rats get Free Hits. Then the King Vermin lets out another spine-chilling cry. "Squeak!!! 7. Here's a few updates on the FAQ: Q: Can I attack without a weapon? A: Yes, you can. In that case your attack power will only consist of your level. Technically speaking, your WP is 0 when fighting unarmed, so your Critical Hits and damaging Shield-skills will also do damage equal to your level in that case. Mages cannot cast spells unarmed, since they need their weapon to channel the spells, but clerics can heal (restoring health equal to their level on every successful roll). Note that Chi Monks are especially geared towards unarmed fighting, so their attacks work differently. Q: How does it affect my attacks if an enemy is said to be fighting from the back row? A: If you have a ranged weapon or can cast spells, there is no penalty. However, using a melee weapon you will only do half damage to that enemy from the front row, and a quarter of the normal damage if you are on the back row yourself. An enemy standing on the back row usually has ranged attacks, so it can attack both front and back row without penalty. If it isn't ranged, the same rules apply to its attacks. Q: What does stealing gold only from enemies that carry gold mean? A: Rogues and other classes with stealing skills can only gain gold from enemies that drop gold. However, the stolen gold is not taken from the drops, but instead from a "hidden stash". So rogues can steal more gold from the enemy that it drops, and the enemy will still drop the designated amount of gold.
  8. Oh, I just want everyone to be aware that Tesni did friggin' 15k damage to one enemy in a single strike in the Falling Stars quest. I'm not sure, is that a HRPG record?
  9. This is exactly the kind of posting I don't want to see in this topic. In the future, please use the General Discussion topic to insult each other.
  10. Which is related to the Artisan class how exactly? Seriously, we had this discussion already, and you made your opinion loud and clear then. The majority was in favor of the rule change, so now we'll live with that for the time being.

  12. QM Note: You did, but Peppermint didn't. The party leader can only decide the order of action, each player is responsible for their own attacks. And unless the player specifically says otherwise, I always move on to the next listed enemy if the designated target is already killed. Sorry!
  13. The thing is, Atramor wasn't equipped with the Pheles Rod at that time, he attacked with the Conspirator on his first turn.
  14. Oh please, it's an Expert Class Shield-skill - and one option out of six! Besides, getting 100-600 gold is all that roll does, while the Rogue-classes can damage or stun or even kill while also gaining gold. You can't possibly feel slighted about that.
  15. Confused affects everything you do, whether it's attacking, healing, or using items. You always have 1/2 chance for the action to be directed at the wrong side when you're confused.
  16. The heroes gather around the beached carcass of the Jade Kraken. It had been no match for them, just like the Obisidian Dragon hadn't been for the others, either. They were joined by two familiar animals from the farm. "Oink! Oinkity-oink! [Gasp, you really did it! You six are from here-on-out known as the "Krakenwhackers".]" "Baah baah... Baaahhh. [Another one bites the dust... Just wait here as I scout the Eastern Reaches for you guys.]" Billy the Goat returns with a map of the areas beyond the rivermouth. Hard: 28. Loch Mess 29. Island of Solitude 30. Nixie Lair Sanctuaries: E. Eastern Sanctuary
  17. QM Note: I hope you all realize that even I, the Mighty Sandy, make mistakes, so I'm going to need your help in checking these battle results are all correct. Thanks in advance! Also note that the new job class rules are in effect from here on out. "So we have finally been found. Well, it was due time. Fight fearlessly, everyone! We shall defend the Constellation to the last man!" After that, things start turning for the worse, as the automatons take damage one by one. The Fiery-eyed Lion manages to unleash the Whirling Flames that leave several heroes wounded and confused. 18. I apologize, but such a quest has been in my plans for a long, long time now. It doesn't mean that you can't host a Marketplace-quest after mine, though... I'm aiming my quest for this Halloween, when Elphaba will be present as well.
  19. Here's the finalized version of the Artisan. Thank you for all of your feedback, it really helped me to make this job class balanced.
  20. *Note: This is a temporary topic about an important announcement that concerns all players of Heroica RPG!* In the two years that we have played this game, the very core of the battle system - the job classes - have seen numerous changes. Some time ago, there was discussion about changing the way rogues and rogue-related classes gain gold, and that inspired me to make various other changes to maintain a balance between the classes, while also keeping them distinct from each other. There has been at least some modifications to a majority of the job classes, but here's a list of the most drastic ones: * Rogues and other classes that can steal gold no longer get it by default. Instead, they can only steal gold from enemies that carry it as drops. The stolen gold is not taken from the drops, though, but a separate, "hidden" stash. This change was implemented to prevent the rogues from outclassing other players with the amount of gold they were making. To make up for this big nerf, there are more abilities that can steal gold now (including the Witch's Shield) and some rogue-related classes have gotten a power boost or additional skills (including the Rogue itself, whose MISS has been replaced by HIDE). * Mages, clerics and the related classes now spend ether on their Shield-skills as well, and usually if their ether has ran dry, their Shield-skills have become useless. This change was made to make ether and tonics a bit more precious and influential, as it was becoming rare to see a mage or cleric low on ether. It also counterbalances the great benefits from having elemental ranged attacks for mages. * Previously unannounced, I have decided to give all shield-type equipment the ability to have a 1/6 chance to block physical enemy attacks (as described in the DEFLECTED DAMAGE battle result). This felt important to me because there was complaints about the knight-related classes becoming worthless due to all the SP-giving artefacts around. I know it's another thing for QMs to worry about when rolling for battle results, but I believe it was necessary. Now knights have a new reason to shine as the tanks in this game! * Several barbarian-related classes have been given a power boost to ensure their place as the heavy-hitters of the game. * Ranger-related classes don't get any new benefits or nerfs beyond those listed above, being as powerful but balanced as they are already. * Related to these changes, many classes have gotten their Shield-skills revised (including the Battle Mage, the Hunter, the Raider, the Berserker, the Sage, the Mystic Knight, the Witch, the Sorcerer and the Chi Monk), and some other battle skills have been changed or added. There has even been a minor tweak to the Druid's and Prophet's job traits. * Oh, and there's also a new Expert Job Class included - the Artisan. Go check it out! Please check what has changed for your class (if anything) by visiting the Rules & FAQ (where you can also comment on these changes) or the Training Room. Note that you might have to refresh the topics in order to see the new pictures, since they share the filenames with the old ones. These changes will come into effect immediately. Thank you for your attention!
  21. The Arena is just a casual place to spend time in-between quests, so a simple note like the one that B&P had about the sign-up taking place after the Arena battle should solve the time-space continuum. And you should never be annoyed at fresh players making mistakes like that, because how would they know any better? Instead of getting annoyed, you should remember the time when you were new to this game and everything was just a big confusing blurr.
  22. Maybe there would have to be some "lay-offs" made before he could claim Heroica as his own.

  24. It's not that big of a deal. As long as people don't start posting to the Hall when they are on a quest, I don't care where they post and when. It's not like you have to wait 10 minutes after posting to the Marketplace to post to the Hall, just to ensure your character has had enough time to walk the distance.
  25. I agree that the villains so far have appeared a little toothless, but that's probably because I, Zepher and many of the other QMs want to portray them as living, feeling beings as well, not just clichéd maniacs hellbent on destroying the world. That isn't to say there couldn't be a villain like that, though. That would be me, actually. And B&P knows why. Except Ulric's goal isn't to destroy Heroica, but rather take control of the organization, along with the city. But we'll see how that goes once we hit that point in the main storyline.
