  2. Welcome! Excellent theme choice ;-) God Bless, Nathan
  3. Hey and welcome! Collecting a multitude of themes can be very good for the builder's palette. It is particularly effective when the pieces are used to build castle... X-D God Bless, Nathan
  4. I got one of these today (probably just because of this review), can't say the fantasy elements are going up in my opinion, but I had to know why people seemed to like this set.... And while neither will get much use from me, I prefer dark tan trolls. God Bless, Nathan
  5. That's great! I wish I was so focused X-D God Bless, Nathan
  6. Hey and welcome! God Bless, Nathan
  7. Some great ideas *yoda* ! Loving your castle enthusiasm... ;-) This is, to me, exactly the point. You are crossing over. While I may be living in the age of Lego past, I still like it. Once upon a time there were four themes based on four eras of history or plausible future. This allowed scope for any amount of imagination: Imagination wasn't limited by set constructs. Factions could be whatever you wanted them to be, some read the pirates as good, some bad. Some created alien invasions of their town, some didn't. Some built dragons and un-dead hordes, most didn't ;-) , it's possible to make just about any of the pre-2000 castle factions into your faviourite/good faction. Imagination. I look at a popular fantasy line and see two kids 'using their imagination': "You want to have the trolls attack again" "Sure"... It's a little more limited. Why not buy some of those figurines if you want to be stereotyped. Lego is suppose to be about imagination ;-) Case in point is the last year's worth of MOCs on CC. Masses of skellies vs from the young builders.... not much else... hmm... I mean it's great that they've been 'inspired' but shouldn't inspiration lead to you creating something of your own? That's the form of imagination Lego used to encourage. To be honest I think this is more a question of semantics than even the time warp that causes them. Blueandwhite, myself, and more than a few others, still understand 'imagination' to reside in the prerogative of the user. He or she designs/invents/creates. It would seem that a lot of slightly younger lego community members describe 'imagination' more in terms of stimulation. For children to reenact a scenario or story is a victory for Lego and 'imagination' (no offense intended at all, just a biased observation ;-) ). And compared to other modern pass times that may be true... I'm just asking for more. Someone on Lugnet once asked why Lego conventions, although growing, had never reached the sized of comic book conventions. A brilliant reply stated that lego conventions should more readily be compared to comic book writers conventions. One is for the consumer-and is of course larger- one for the creator... I still come to Lego to create. A little fantasy won't ruin that. I just fear for further down the road. In the meantime I'll strip my skellies for robot parts and hope humans don't decrease yet further. Or I'll also be out. God Bless, Nathan

  13. Same here, except divided into the main themes first... Though I have to admit on the rare occasion I want to reference one I normally go to Lugnet/Peeron first. God Bless, Nathan
  14. I missed the reference in my ignorance/innocence... Different cultures respond in different ways. Northern Ireland for example... God Bless, Nathan Who believes you are better using your mind then wasting it... (quazi-intentional pun) Do more lego!

    Happy B-day! God Bless, Nathan
  25. Thanks for adding to my vocabulary! I'm no expert, but I'd never seen 'nativity' used as a noun (as opposed to a proper noun), closer inspection yields: nativity |nəˈtivitē; nā-| noun ( pl. -ties) the occasion of a person's birth : the place of my nativity. Very impressive Hinckley! God Bless, Nathan
