A Ninjago movie combiner project
Takanuinuva replied to Takanuinuva's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I've hit a roadblock at the cockpit. I can't decided whether or not to do a snot cockpit. (Studs facing forward) Or a standard cockpit (Studs Facing up) I'm trying the studs up but I don't have enough brick parts to make it both sturdy and color coordinated -

Here is a base build for the arms. I might customize the shoulders more so there not just the quake mech's -
I find it ironic that the hunted season of Ninjago is going to finish airing before the sets are even out in north america.

A Ninjago movie combiner project

Thanks I do plan on using the Water Strider and Ice Tank cockpit pieces. As for joints. It's going to have the Quake Mech's shoulders so the arms won't be an issue. One arm will have the fire mech flamethrower with the other having the Ice Tank blaster. (I'm going to remove the blasters at the base or at least the Ice tank one) I'm still not sure where to put the lightning jet's blaster. I've also decided the head will be from the mech dragon It'll stick on top with most of the mech dragon's parts making up the neck and collarbone/upper shoulders. -

I've managed to make progress on this idea. I've built the base and wings of the combined mecha. I'll be posting progress pictures as this goes on -
Didn't we already have a Jay and Nya season with Skybound? Do we really need another when Kai and Cole could use more focus?

A Ninjago movie combiner project

This was never planned to be a real life set. I'm just working with LDD atm But what I had in mind was. Using the Ice tank as the base with the mecha having tread legs. (The cockpit and diamond shaped back plate would be removed) This would give it a solid base and I would't have to worry about legs. That lead up into the custom cockpit with the Quake Mech's geared shoulders. This is the biggest problem as I don't know how to go about designing it. It would probably use most of the water strider parts as it has to go somewhere. The arms were going to be a combination of the quake mech and fire mech arms, With weapons from the other vehicles attached. The Mech Dragon's head would be the head of the mech. With other parts of it forming chest armor. On the back of the mech would be the Ice Tank's diamond backplate folded out to look like wings. With the Lightning jet's engines attached underneath for boosters. -
Ever since reading the novel adaptation for The Lego Ninjago Movie. I wanted to make a combined mecha of the six ninja's vehicles. I have a general idea of what it should look like. But the main problem I'm having is I'm terrible at large scale custom builds. The sets i'm talking about are the Fire Mech, Ice Tank, Lightning Jet, Water Strider, Quake Mech and Green Ninja Mech Dragon. I have an lxf file of the 6 sets and if anyone would be interested in helping me make this. I would really appreciate it. Would anyone be interested in helping me?

I do wonder. Did the hunters always live in the first realm? Or did they get there accidentally from another realm?- 4,591 replies

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
Takanuinuva replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
I might be mistaken but I think they were just the wings from the batwing set. So you could just combine those two? -
Think that would also mean remakes of the Skullkin and Serpentine waves as sets? I'd love to see what they would look like with Lego's updated building techniques

I don't know how you'd add knees while keeping the combination feature. At least without modding the black lion's legs a lot.

Why aren't there any large transparent Lego plates?
Takanuinuva replied to Takanuinuva's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I thought the reason there aren't fully transparent minifigs is cause having two clear pieces connected as a joint would make them impossible to turn or remove after a while. They would end up somewhat bonding together iirc As for plates that is what I thought. But I think 2x2 or 2x3 plates could be make in transparent colors and would be fine. -
What we need is a 360 version of this joint https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=44225&idColor=86#T=C&C=86 https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=44224&idColor=85#T=C&C=85 It was strong enough to be used for the Fire Mech's hips. So a joint of that ratchet strength might be enough for large mechs and robots.

What an interesting start to the season. And here I thought they were going to focus on one realm per episode. I'm glad they didn't as it won't have as many cliffhangers and still gives all the cast ample screen time.- 4,591 replies

The Lego Ideas Ship in a bottle had me thinking. Why did they make the bottom of the bottle using so many small clear parts. They would have saved a bit more money if they casted the larger round corner plates in clear instead. Is it cause larger transparent pieces would be more likely to break than the smaller ones? That's why we've only seen the smaller plates and tiles be cast in transparent colors?

Yes they are but I mean the hips going forward and backward. That needs to happen for the Black Lion to transform.
