I can't believe Meccano has been used WITH Lego for entries! Wonder when the new series starts?
-
You're rather lucky then, because all the time I was in a small school like that I was constantly teased and picked on for liking Lego at all. I actually thought the majority of people didn't mind, but of course because the most influencial person in the year group despised Lego, virtually everyone HAD to as well otherwise they were unpopular. Since then, I haven't known many people for a while who go to my current school so barely anyone knows except my closest friends. Even, then, only ONE actually is interested at all with my hobby! On a good note though, my whole family doesn't mind getting loads of Lego for my birthdays or Christmas. I certianly don't have to go to a psychologist to be hypnotised out of Lego. Also as another side note, I think as I get older, I am likely to 'collect and MOC Lego' more than build it and play with it. I'm certainly glad no one can take the mickey out of me for using a PS3, because that's almost as important as Lego (as ADHO15 will know)!

The Eurobricks Reviewers Academy
The Rancor replied to Bonaparte's topic in Forum Information and Help
It's taken a while because I've been so busy for a while, but may I also join the Reviewers Academy? P.S: I have an ATOT and Dropship Review in the pipeline and I would like it to be approved the academy at some point! (I have other purchase plans soon, but the ATOT and dropship is a big'un. The review might be in progress for a while! -
I agree. And seeing as this is the 2009 sets thread, I'm considering buying an AAT and Republic Shuttle. I'll have to go to the review index to make my decision. (and yes, I can afford it as well as 'other things' ) I'm excited about the Republic Shuttle because it seems it has so many features - flick fire missiles that don't have to be flicked (a-la Vikings), folding wings, dropping bombs and Mace Windu!
-
Ah yes, my mistake. However, it was the same price in £ as it was in $ And, yes, I am THAT eager to spend £166 of Lego savings on the ATOT and Dropship! I been seeing far more Clone Wars lately, and I noticed there was an episode on a planet like Hoth. The Clone had sleek enclosed landspeeders (which I didn't catch the name of) and speederbikes. I would love to see Lego make some Phase I Snow troopers from this episode as well. I also noticed that the Republic Shuttle (like the red one from SW Episode I opening) pops up a lot in the Clone Wars.

@#%$?@! why does the USA always get everything sooner than or instead of Europe? First no Chrome Vaders (yet) and second no Space Police in toys shops in the UK? Couldn't we at least have something earlier than the USA? (this question is not intended to be answered. It might well be a rant, but don't go miles off topic with it. Just a passing comment!) As for the 2009 Summer sets themselves, I have only just found much better pics of the sets at the Toyfair, but I won't bother posting a link because I'm almost certain someone or many people will have already seen them! Corporate Alliance Droid: has a good balance of minifigs (2 NORMAL/jetpack clones) and I believe is better value than the Spider Droid. Echo Base: don't like the look of the price because there aren't many pieces, but I like the 'playablility' of the Turret. Separatist Shuttle: looks very small for its passengers but it does have very essential minifigs (Namely 'Uncle Onno') Y-Wing: still looks like a regurgitated version of the future one (which I know is the idea), but figs could have been 2 Pilots! Venator: has very nice minifigs, but due to the actual space inside the ship and the features I've seen, I doesn't it merits the price. Battle of Endor: The perfect battle (I wish there was just one more Death Star trooper though!) ATOT and Dropship: Well, apart from the ever-changing release date, this is one baby (or babies!) I'm definately buying

I think I was actually desperate to get more sneak peaks of Lego (because the magazine isn't enough)! so... I typed in soemthing like "2007 new sets" and EB came up. I actually first used Brickset.

The three most memorable moments in a video game for you
The Rancor replied to AgentRick's topic in Culture & Multimedia
A new update (all recent games): 1.) Motorstorm Pacific Rift - Winning a race in a bike against all monster trucks by a margin of 0.01 seconds!!! 2.) Burnout Paradise - Finally getting all of the 490 online challenges! That's one big commitment! 3.) LittleBig Planet - beating the final boss without losing a life and then walking into a dangerous pit! -
Cheap MISB 7673 SW MagnaGuard Starfighters for sale!
The Rancor replied to Dennimator's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Nice deal there. It's pretty cheap considering when I saw the MG Starfighter in Europe it was on sale at €60! Luckily, last time I saw a Magnaguard Fighter in the UK it was for only a measly £20 on sale at TRU! Of course, I bought it! The magnaguards are awesomely detailed, if anyone is considering buying the set. -
I've got to admit Chocolate With Nuts is one of the funniest cartoons I have ever seen! You should know what I mean. However, I've moved away from Spongbob for a while now - I guess the randomness was too much Also notice that I DIDN'T put Spongebob in the bottom sets - they are expensive but authentic! I could say the same about Power Miners. I'm a Power Miners fan at the moment (still seconded to Star Wars Obviously!), and I can't believe everyone hates the colour of the sets and the use of technic parts. Come on! The technic parts add mechanisms to the sets to make them more interesting. Just take the Thunder Driller for example. A simple bit of technic gearing means that when the driller moves it's drill spins two ways at once. I could go on, because the Crystal Sweeper is also excellent. Unfortunately in Star Wars, clever mechanisms are reserved for bigger sets (for example, the carrying parts on the Dropship to carry the ATOT, coming out in late March). All smaller sets are stucking with freakin' flick fire missles!

I think it's fair to collect an army, if you have the money for loads of battle packs. I personally collect enough CLone Troopers, Orks etc. just for a diorama - not a fully blown battalion. (Also, WH40K Orks. Nice I collect a mix of them and Ultramarines. Don't go too off topic though )
-
I hope these games reflect any new ranges out in the near furture (I certainly want Greeks!) The Minotaur one would have been pretty obvious as to what the board was like without the box art. That pirate one... interesting. I wonder what you have to do?
-
It doesn't look like it's been mentioned lately in this thread (I've looked a few pages back) but the ATOT and Dropship have now been changed back from 10th of April to 30th of March, in the UK! I'll be ordering it ASAICO (As Soon As It Comes Out)! As for Brickmaster - meh... I'm nor really too envious of those mini sets, I suppose they would only have a few useful parts). I'm making plans for Star Wars purchses in the Summer, based on minifigs, detail, value for money and and mechanical parts. I've just seen the episode of Star Wars Clone Wars on the Rodian planet - I think I've been tempted to get the Separatist Shuttle. Those minifigs look so sweet!
-
I completely agree! IMO For one reason I barely know the theme but it does remind me of Duplo. My other hated themes would have to be Bionicle (although I have an extensive weapon collection over the ages) because the parts are so specialised and barely get used in other sets. Another theme that I am not very interested in is Space Police (mainly because I can't get the latest wave in the freakin' UK, but also because I never was able to get/ bought the old ones). I Star Wars (From ALL eras, providing I have the money. I just don't often buy Starships) Castle (since 2007) (because it is so much better in my opinion than some of the older sets (not Forestmen)) Power Miners (because all the sets have interesting features/mechanisms that bring the sets alive + I LIKE the colours)
-
Well, on S@H it was released the same time as all the other Clone Wars sets on July 26th 2008 Let's come back to UK pricing of the Summer sets (which I don't THINK has been confirmed): The best guesses would be (without decreased VAT): Echo Base: £19.99 Corporate Alliance Droid: £19.99 Separatist Shuttle: £24.99 -> £29.99 Pirate Tank: £24.99 -> £29.99 Y Wing Fighter: £39.99 Mid-Scale Millenium Falcon: £49.99 (hard to judge though from pics available) Venator Republic Cruiser: £79.99 The Battle of Endor: £79.99 (or maybe even more!) Home One cruiser: £69.99 (roughly) Here's for hoping that TLG have more sets that can be kept secret until close to release

He He. I know the feeling. My cousins are all either between 10 and 15 years older than me or are below 5 years old Hmm... I don't think I'll go for any Exo Force deals. Wonder if there are any more deals for 2008 Star Wars sets... I don't really want to go to TRU very often now, as I'll be paying out to get the ATOT and LAAT. However, I won't have it first as usual
-
Yes, March is what it read in my Lego Club magazine. I hope that the Castle sets come out then too. I need some revenge for no Space Police I've just been to Torquay in Devon and went to the local Argos. Bought a sweet Granite Grinder. The mechanism's quite funny I now have all the colours of Rock Monster
-
Well there was the contest for Pirate MOCs not very long ago: Pillage the Village. I'm not absolutely sure whether I would enter becuase I moved away from Pirates and onto Star Wars. I do still make a few MODs (not MOCs) to my Brickbeard's Bounty and Soldiers' Fort though!

I think the prices for the UK are: King's Royal Chariot:

10195 Republic Dropship & AT-OT Discussion
The Rancor replied to Darth Legolas's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I voted that the ATOT and Dropship was the best Clone Wars set ever The amount of minifigs on their own if bought from battlelacks and BL would be at least £25... + it just seems so much easier to buy the minifigs all in one go (I hope S@H has free/discounted shipped on this set). I also think that £166 is a fair price for the set. The Republic Gunship was £80, with only one clone trooper and Cody (+2 Jedi and a Sith) The ATTE was £70, with only one clone trooper and Rex (+2 Jedi, Rotta thing and not-really-a-minifig Battledroid) If you take things into account (at least for the UK), the Gunship and ATTE added together makes £150... ... then, the ATOT seems bigger than the ATTE and the LAAT is slightly smaller in pieces than the RGS + there are more mechanisms... ... and also there are 8 clones which are expensive to mold for TLG and would then cost £25 on their own. This could add up to make £170 or £175, but probably due to VAT reduction, we get £166. A good deal I say! -
Wow! That's really accurate, and slightly more to scale than the one TLG will release. I would buy that... if it costed less than £1000! I like yout SNOT techniques on the top of the cruiser and the gearstick pieces make great side cannons. Good work I see you're new here. Open a topic in the 'hello, my name is...' section to introduce yourself. Hope you have fun!
-
The box looks like an enlarged ATTE box. It's quite square, but I remember the RGS box was pretty massive too. I hope there's free shipping on these babies! I'm still confused with the connection of the ship, even after reading some explanations. I think I'll just have to wait to see for myself, because I think I'll get the ATOT and dropship. I hope there are more S @ H exclusives in store for later in the year (preferably secret until near release )
-
All the same, the dropship and ATOT is still a 'special' becuase it has a 10...... number. I think the description of the dropship on S@H said that the missiles are 'autofire'. I wonder how that works? I can also see that it only takes 1 pilot to fly the dropship, + this is the first time we have a pilot for a land vehicle as well! I might just be able to muster some more battlepacks, because the seats in the back of the ATOT also have small emplacements.
-
Wow. That vid of the connection on the ATOT and Dropship looks so easy. The demonstrator practically dropped the dropship onto the ATOT and it just connected on with those dishes like suction cups. Looks like a secure connection that won't come undone - and it can be used with the ATTE. It's a good thing that the dropship has a handle, becuase that looks heavy! Can't wait for March the 30th becuase I think I can just about afford it!
-
Where did you get that info from? The 30th of March? One thing is for certain - I will have this set (ATOT and dropship)! And I'm not gonna groan that my wallet is grumbling or something because I just won't buy much of anything else - selective buying!
