  1. I contacted TLG not using the replacement parts service because if there are two molds of the same arch, I don't want to risk receiving the same mold I got in the set. I sent them a query forwarding them to this thread. I'll post their answer here as soon as I get it. I've double-checked many reviews and instruction manuals and they all picture the window as being a perfect fit. This technique is new, and being a different approach to the building concept I guess that some wiggling is acceptable. However, in my case, it wiggles a lot!
  2. I just wrote lego asking for a replacement part. Too bad, I was really excited about the damn window. but it is a really cool technique, with the right pieces, I guess. I'm really enjoying this set and in 20 years as a lego user, this is the first time I've ever had to ask for replacement parts!
  3. Can anyone help me with this issue with this set?
  4. Hi everyone, I finally got the 79003 set, it's amazing. One of the things I was most curious about was the brick built window technique everyone was talking about (the main window, where Bilbo's book is). And I got to that step of the build. I was a bit disappointed when I found out that the window isn't a perfect fit between both arches. It moves a lot between them (a 3 or 4 mm gap between the opposite arch when it's pulled to one side). Even when it's placed in the house structure, the window actually moves from one side to another between the arches. After looking at Captain BeerBeard's review, I realized that the arches in my set are different from his! The inside part of his arches has a small salience that, i presume, must hold the window in place, while mine are perfectly flat on the inside surface. I have no flickr account to post from, but I send a picture attached for you to see the salience I'm talking about. Is anyone having an issue on this? Am I the only one? If I am, i'll feel dumb, I've been building lego since I was 4 or 5 years old -.-' Thanks for your help, please try to look at the attached picture (it's the biggest I could upload...) UPDATE: Apparently, user FredleDingue, from Hothbricks.com (in the comments) had the same problem with the Arkham Asylum set (10937), which has a window with the same design. It seems that Lego told him that they would only replace the parts at his expense. If You check Lego Digital Designer you'll see that the arch in question is available with the mentioned salience that fixes the window in place, not the one being provided in some of the 79003 boxes we've been getting. Still no reply from Lego on my inbox. UPDATE 2: User Dar2k at the Brickpirate.net forum has posted images that picture this issue very well, follow this link to see the effect of the wrong mold of the arch (Hit the small grey button that says "Afficher" on Dar2k's post). No reply from lego to me today! UPDATE 3: According to the link provided by Rich, owner of the awesome blog Brickfanatics.co.uk, some chinese guy had the same issue and received the parts for free from Lego. He posted pictures of everything on a chinese forum, check for yourselves. (google translate..) Why they would send some fans the parts for free, and charge other, beats me. UPDATE 4 - REPLY FROM LEGO: "We are very sorry to hear that your new LEGO ® set contained defective parts. We do everything so that our products are of the highest possible quality and that they meet your expectations for the LEGO brand. Yours faithfully, LEGO Service Note: This message was sent to me in portuguese and I used google translate to get it to english. Then, I corrected some imprecisions in the translation before posting it here.
  5. Judging by the recent trends, i bet the 50kg versions come with 50 kg of sticker sheets.. It's even worse than spiders.
  6. It was a mistake: "Hello, I've reviewed our previous correspondence with you and would like to apologise for the incorrect information provided. From your e-mail, I understand that you were unable to place an order for the item "LEGO The Hobbit 79001: Escape from Mirkwood Spiders" as product description shows as item weight is 50kgs. This might be the result of a typing error. We have asked our technical team to look into this issue. Please note that while most issues are resolved within 5 business days, in some cases it may take longer for us to investigate. I will contact you again within 5 business days with an update. Please be aware that this is the maximum amount of time it will take for us to update you." Hope this helped more people around here!
  7. I told them that in my reply to their reply. I probably unleashed chaos on the amazon contact center, by forcing some guy to actually think before he replies a customer question.. On the other hand, I bet most of these people at these contact centers are actually forced to reply as quick as they can, with replies as short as they can, without being able to respect some quality (or in this case, logic) patterns. Must be though to work there for these guys :/
  8. Already did. Waiting for a reply, hopefully not as awkward as the last one.
  9. I just had the most funny conversation with someone at amazon.co.uk... I tried to buy a Hobbit set, and I got a message saying that they couldn't ship it to Portugal. I tried other lego sets, from other collections, and all of them applied to delivery in other countries. I contacted amazon with the following question: I've tried to buy Lego The Hobbit sets from Amazon.co.uk, to deliver in Portugal, but I got a message telling me that those items can't be shipped to Portugal. I tried to order other lego sets (from previous waves) and i'm allowed to buy them. Why are the Hobbit lego sets unavailable? Is it temporary? I buy all my lego sets from amazon.co.uk and I've never had any problems so far. Thank you for your attention The answer was the answer of someone who clearly doesn't know what they're selling: I understand that you're a Lego collector and really want to buy this item, "The Hobbit" edition of Lego. The reason why you cannot avail of this product because its weight is 50kg. We cannot send a certain product internationally if it weighs 30kg or more. For further information, please check on this link: ..... I hope this helps. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Did I solve your problem? (link to yay or nay) Do they use this argument to block sales to other countries? If the hobbit sets weigh more than 30 kgs our reviewers should have mentioned that :/
  10. that is ill news indeed Jargo. I hope we see the game in all platforms, and a hobbit videogame too. I've contacted some blog owners to see if they can gather some news, i'll update this topic if I find out anything!
  11. I think this probably has something to do with Apple's demands for app reviews in the app stores... My guess is that it's gonna take a while, unfortunately :/ I don't think this game will flop, at all!
  12. After getting no reply here or elsewhere, I contacted TLG about the availability of the LOTR video game for Mac, and I got the following reply: "Thanks for getting in touch with us. We love to hear from LEGO® fans! I'm afraid the set you asked about isn't available to buy at the moment! It might be around soon, but I can't tell you about any new LEGO toys until they're actually in the shops! The best way to get sneak previews of our toys is to join the LEGO club, it's free! We'll even send you five LEGO magazines a year! All you need to do is go to www.LEGOclub.com and sign up, or call one of our experts on 00800 5346 5555 and let them know you want to join. Thanks again for getting in touch." It's clearly a standart reply. I didn't ask for any set or toy, I asked them specifically about the video game. I guess we'll probably see a version of the videogame somewhere in the future, but they could at least throw a launching estimate, like they did for other platforms. All other Lego games are available for Mac. Hope this helps. mpaisana
  13. Hey everyone, Does anyone know if they'll be launching an OSX version of the game? I know some of the previous games have been launched for the operative system, but i googled it and I don't know if it's usual for the Mac version to be released after the other platforms. Does anyone have any clue? Thanks (hope this is the right place to post this!)
  14. 6086 was the first big set i ever got. I remember it was the first set my father helped me build, because it was so huge :) Does anyone (PsyKater) know if these will all be big sets, or are we getting a line with all regular prices like other lines?
  15. I received that set yesterday. It's a good set, but I have never seen such a huge sticker sheet. stickers all over the place, no printed parts! :/
  16. Hey everyone! I've been trying to purchase two LEGO LOTR sets at Amazon.de (Mines of Moria and Orc Forge) and I have been waiting for quite a while for them to ship the sets... I placed a first order and they said they couldn't get the payment from my credit card (I triple checked with my bank, and everything was alright on their behalf). I made a second order and the shipping estimate was november 5th. It's already the 7th and I wrote them trying to find out what is going on, and they said they were having trouble with a "new conveyor system" which leads to delays in shipping. Note that both items are listed as "In Stock". Is anyone here having the same trouble? Is anyone buying from Amazon germany with this kind of issue?
  17. makes me want to live there. Congrats!
  18. Someone's gonna get fired :p
  19. I thought the set they were going to unveil today was Escape from Mirkwood Spiders! Yep, on the Hobbit website it says the Barrel Escape is to be unveiled on November 12th.
  20. Wow LOTR343... Here in portugal prices are still cool, pretty much like the lego shop @ home. I get almost everything from amazon.es and amazon.co.uk, free shipping to Portugal. Although lego is still "cheap", they have been raising the prices on sugar, flour, the basics...
  21. Disappointed. I was looking forward to the A-Wing but it is just another ship. Even the planet sets look a bit poor..
  22. amazing. one of the best MOC's to be shown up here lately. Congrats
  23. Now I can see the goblin king character bios. But maybe they were there before the site went down I didn't caught them in time!
  24. And with updated character bios. Cool!
  25. Maybe you're right. In any case, I find it strange that the site has been down for so long
