What is the dictionary? There are loads of dictionaries. And some of them have an entry for LEGO: Dictionary.com http://www.dictionary.com/browse/lego?s=t OED: http://www.oed.com/view/Entry/241282?redirectedFrom=lego#eid Cambridge: https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/lego And where there are historical usage examples, it is interesting to note that the "wrong" usage has been going on ever since day one. The OED and Cambridge both list Legos as a plural form (with mainly US usage). I wonder when "to lego" will become acceptable. After all, adults don't play with LEGO(R) / LEGO / Lego / lego (bricks) as we are on a higher plane. We lego.

We do have retail exclusives in the UK. TRU, Argos, Tesco, all have had some exclusives over the years. John Lewis in particular have a lot of exclusives at the moment. Six of the current Nexo sets are JL exclusives, along with Caterham, Mini, Beetle, Winter Village sets. I'm hoping HP sets will not be exclusives, as it means that it will be much more likely to get a 30% discount if a number of retailers sell them.

It is a common misconception. None of the HP sets will be UCS, but that doesn't mean there won't be large and expensive sets in the HP line. They just won't have the UCS badge on them.

OK, so just cut it very slightly smaller than it should be so no overlaps with neighbouring baseplates, and cover the edges with plates or bricks.
-
I did, they are in brackets and italicised. There is a perfectly good reason that there are no 2018 sets (the subject of this thread) based on Cursed Child - they are partnered with Warner Bros, who do not own the rights, so no 2018 Cursed Child sets. There is no point saying they could pick up the license if they wanted to. If there was a good reason to pick it up for 2018 sets, they would have done it. They haven't, so there isn't. There is no point saying that they might or they could include some CC figures if they wanted to. They won't. [Hopefully that is still on topic enough to remain about 2018 sets]. D2C sets are ones sold through Lego - Lego Stores and their online store only. UCS sets are Star Wars sets only. So no HP sets will be UCS. Other themes have big sets, and some of them may look like UCS style, but UCS is a label only applied to Star Wars sets.

REVIEW: 71021 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 18
MAB replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
If anyone wants it for the retro feel, why not just buy a used original one with genuine worn sticker? Much cheaper, and you'll be able to afford a few similar firemen too. -
If all the joins will be covered anyway, then you don't need to worry too much about the accuracy of the cuts so long as you undercut or file off any overcut sticking out edges. A knife blade will give a decent cut if repeated many times, a cheap hacksaw will be less straight but faster. You can cut as straight as you can down the middle of rows of studs, then use a file to remove any excess, or you can do two cuts to make sure you have no overlap with neighbouring plates. An alternative is to use them as they are and use the extra space to put a lake or park or something relevant, if it all still fits in the display area.

These ones? (Not mine, Huw's from brickset).
-
You can also use a regular panel with any of the large number of different shaped brackets, so long as you level off with plates.

There is no chance of this, in 2018 or beyond, unless LEGO get the rights to it. I doubt they will do that while they are partnering with Warner Bros, making sets based on their Harry Potter license. Yes, I know he was in the sets (and is named as such on bricklink), but the question was whether he was actually named in the sets. These were back in the day of not having the minifigures named on the boxes and very little description available. Unlike today, where the minifigures are typically named on the box and also detailed in the set description.

It is years since I saw an old HP box. Did they not name him before? I know BL name him as Peeves, but the old boxes didn't name any minifigs like the current ones, is that correct here?

They don't say that. They say the plural of LEGO(R) brick is LEGO bricks.
-
Warner Bros. and hence LEGO don't have the rights to it. So (1) they cannot put another license holder's characters into their sets and (2) why would they promote another company's IP alongside their own? It is like Marvel used to be, with different companies owning the rights to different (aged) characters.

They pile them up in the LEGO store and many people take them away. Even though they can see the actual sets right there in-store, people (kids included) still like to have a catalogue.
-
There is a massive reason they couldn't - licensing. They'll have an agreement with Warner Bros. to make sets of the movies. It wouldn't surprise me at all if that agreement stops them making other Harry Potter sets based on subjects owned by other rights holders, as Warner Bros. wouldn't want them competing for shelf space and sales of the sets based on their movies. The only way we would see Cursed Child sets is if/when the movie(s) is(are) made. 10 years time, if Daniel Radcliffe's acting career is going down the pan, I can see it happening.

Yeah, I reckon it is genuine - and probably stolen from the factory. That seller has too much other lego to be selling fakes. They won't want negative feedback with "fake" in it, just to sell a few relatively cheap figures. At least their price is not too bad, when you think back to things like the snowman R2-D2 that went for multiple $100s six months before the advent calendar came out a few years back.

Also take a look at Orthanc, one of the better and more detailed (non-Castle) castle sets ... there are the 3x3x6 corner panels, 4x3 panels, a 6x5 panel. Of course, it makes sense here as they are stickered for decoration.
-
OK, it cannot be that big a deal if imaginary. While I am sure there are some sets that some people don't like the builds and want just one minifigure from the entire set (as they already have the other figures or similar ones, or already have a similar build), the same set could still appeal to others because of the minifigures or the build it contains.

Which set are you describing?

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
MAB replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I wouldn't mind them repeating something like the thespian or Shakespeare but coming on a dark blue base or better still black (although the existing print might not work so well on black). Even dark orange (like Percy from Blackadder II) would be good. I'd also like a more open ruff-like collar for the women, so a bit like the fur collars of Kraven or the Penguin but done to look like the lace of the ruff. -
I wasn't aware of that one. Most new parts don't change price so dramatically. Many new parts come in at one price and stay the same price, at least until updates when most parts change in price.

Or Dutch or English ones (!). They'd also make a great starting point for an Oliver Cromwell. -
On the contrary, I think it would encourage more people to try to upload new SW ideas. They wouldn't be accepted, but one SW set making it through review would make others think it is fine and that the rule is either wrong or not applicable - if they read it at all, that is.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
MAB replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think I have ordered 24 (different) parts on the phone before, adding to an existing B+P order. Mainly capes and (licensed) heads. It is definitely worth placing the order online first for parts you can do online. It saves a lot of hassle on the phone. Also as noted above, have a list of design numbers, plus a list of substitutes if they won't allow parts that you wanted but there is something similar that you know about.
