Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
MAB replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
No torsos or heads but lots of hair. No (medium, depending on your definitions) lavender legs - at least yet. -
Physical items for sale have to go into the correct area of the site - in the "buy, sell, trade" section. It would be good if similar guidelines could be made for selling non-physical items, such as instructions to make it clear that they are for sale and not for free. For example, when someone posts their MOC and says instructions are available here, and you click a link and it takes you through to rebrickable or another store where they are for purchase. It would be better if there was a rule that if this is for a paid for download item, then the creator would have to write that the instructions are FOR SALE at .... rather than "available". That is, make it clear on the EB post that they are posting to make money from the instructions. Even better if they said the price before clicking through. I have nothing against people making money from selling instructions, just that it should be clear that is what they are doing in the EB post.

A Universal Monsters theme would be nice, although many of the minifigures have been done already as unlicensed versions. Unless the prints are improved somewhat, then the monster minifigures might be less attractive for anyone that already has all the CMF and MF versions. If unlicensed, then the fleshie versions of humans might be more interesting than the humans in MF.

Sellers of mulitple figures: fake or mad?
MAB replied to legolandia's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I've bought £4000 worth of a single set in the past, just to part out on bricklink. You can often get a discount buying that many at once and can recoup the cost quickly by selling the minifigures fast, and then make profit by selling the parts (usually slower). -
I've made LEGO mosaics for the best part of 20 years. I've always found them quite relaxing to do. But I rarely display them for more than a few months, as I prefer to display something with more detail. If I wanted a picture of Vader, I'd display a print. That isn't to say that it is not relaxing to build the mosaic of course. The process is sometimes worth more than the final article. In that sense, it is nice you can rebuild each into three or four different mosaics. But I would not pay that much for one. Plus I prefer square plates to round plates or tiles, as they also have the challenge of lining them up. Very few will buy these to make their own designs. But then, I imagine most $100+/100 Euro/£100+ sets get built once and displayed as instructed in the manual.

Custom Qin Empire Army Minifigure by KORUIT
MAB replied to CMI's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Very interesting armour pieces. As to quality - I find the accessories, armour, headgear, etc are usually great whereas the minifigure parts I'm not such a fan of. -
As long as you click on the BUY button, and see prices for the bricks / parts, then you are fine.
-
You can get all that from the description. They say the dimensions and also that you can rearrange the stores, so ofcourse you can do one row or two.
-
I doubt it, since if it didn't run along the full 102 cm it would look a bit odd. Given the line that it is a "‘living model’ with endless possibilities to rearrange and create new narratives" I imagine it is a series of 7 stand alone buildings that can be placed / attached together in any order you like.

21026 Venice review!
MAB replied to JintaiZ's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It isn't really very rare any more. The white one has been in 11 sets now, and is also cheap on B+P. However, this part is rare. It only comes in this set and is no longer available at B+P. I bought six damaged box sets of Venice for £12.50 (50% RRP) each for the parts, and each of those roof slopes sold on bricklink for about 65% of the price I paid for each set! As to the set, I agree it is a lovely little set with instantly recognizable landmarks. -
Thanks, I was interested as it is often a reason given for no transparent figures. The old problem of sticking a lightsaber bar into a trans cone then trying to get it out again.
-
Of course it is MY experience. I give MY opinions and no-one else's. I don't tell you how to play with your sets. As I said, it will be interesting if these are closed back or open back - having to lift floors off to access play areas is very different to just putting hands in via the back. Enclosed builds typically mean the insides are somewhat static hence designed more for display, whereas open back means it is easier to move things around hence designed more for play.
-
Experience told me. Compare playing with a modular and an open back set.
-
Modulars aren't really playsets though. The inside details are nice, but they are not really designed for getting hands inside once built. It will be interesting to see how they do these, whether it is more down the adult style "build and display" or the kid style "build and play".

The 102cm = 8 x 12.8mm, so 8 of 16 stud plates. I expect most buildings will be 16 studs wide with one at 32. The depth at 13cm is also probably meaning the stores will be on 16x16 plates. I hope they are all that depth, although they might make some on 16x8 stud plates instead.

Latest impact of other themes on historic themes
MAB replied to Wardancer's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Yes, they are BL part numbers 775 and 88489. -
It is not like he has much success with the gun either.

We have had the big police boats before, the last was 2016 and one before that about 2012, and one in 2006 was it? Although they get interspersed with various coast guard type stuff, same sets different stickers! Interesting point about mounted police. Have we ever had any? I guess the downside there is that mounted police are often used for controlling the public and crowds, whereas the vehicles LEGO uses are for chasing robbers. Maybe not the image LEGO wants right now. Similarly police divers are often for searching (and sometimes for dead bodies) rather than for chasing the bad guys. Maybe a bit grim for LEGO.
-
It sounds like you need some Arctic Police to go with them.
-
If Elmer Fudd does not get a rifle, then there will be loads of posts all over the internet showing LEGO how they should have done him, holding a LEGO rifle. I've just seen the images of him with his scythe. Now that is scary.

I don't think there is anything usual about IDEAS sets, they tend to follow their own "rules". Recent years have sometimes had 3 releases, sometimes 5 sets. Sometimes they are released out of order (Voltron being later than Women of NASA). Sometimes IDEAS sets are released close together, sometimes spread out. I imagine they will release when they are ready.

Latest impact of other themes on historic themes
MAB replied to Wardancer's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
My local WHS still has CMFs (at least they did in February), but they have always been kept behind the counter. -
It is a very male series isn't it. I know Grandma is female, but for me the stars were Sylvester and Tweety Pie. I had never heard of Lola Bunny, but looking her up she is too new for me to remember as a kid. I could see them doing Foghorn Leghorn, again just a regular body with a rooster head. They could do Pepe le Pew and maybe the female cat that he chases after.
-
Even Toy Story doesn't use them now, so presumably there is an issue with them.

It isn't cheaper and better value than Star Wars. It totally depends on what you compare against what, and how you decide on value. For example, this Overwatch set is exactly the same price as most Star Wars battle packs. 2 minifigs, 129 parts 4 minifigs, 102 parts Which is better value depends how you value something. Personally I see better value in the SW set here. This is almost double the price, but double the number of parts. 3/4 minifigs, 329 parts Whereas this is about 4x the price but has significantly bigger parts. 4 minfigures, 389 parts. But then this Overwatch set is about the same price as that one. 0 minifigures, 602 parts.
