Thanks for all the kind words! Entirely fair on the gold lasers. Looking at the pictures, I'm in two minds about them, but on the whole, I think they worked with the model in-person. It's definitely original in the final execution but I took inspiration from this http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/TIE/HU_Hunter_multi-role_starfighter as well, of course, as the original TIE Advanced design. Thanks! It's proven to be quite the multi-purpose design and will be showing up in future models! Not sure how well it shows but the idea was that the landing gear could act like claws for grappling. Thanks again everyone!

Thanks both! Mostly through a cunning contrivance of 1x4 plates with two studs. In the right configuration, the flat in the middle allows them to lock sections together with studs in the opposing direction. It's a technique I've used elsewhere and in this case, it worked rather well.

As soon as I got my hands on the official Doctor Strange set, I wanted to expand it. One day, I hope I'll have the bricks to build a properly big chunk of the full house, but in the meantime, please enjoy this small diorama. A while back, while on a big Star Wars kick, I knocked together this as a prospective design for Kylo Ren's personal TIE Fighter. My guiding idea was 'like Darth Vader's, only bigger and spikier and totally awesomer!!' Because that's how poor Kylo thinks. Thanks guys - I might well have used the Adaptoid helmet if I had it, but saying that, it doesn't quite look right to me. It's really the wrong shape and honestly, the lack of eyes would bug me. Really, what I need is something like this print on dark grey: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=87610pb06#T=C&C=1

I've been cataloguing some models today -- here are a trio of Marvel villains for your delectation. Hopefully I'll be able to photograph some more mini-builds next weekend and I have a bigger MOC to be posted during the week. The Iron Monger (aka I wish that helmet came with a robot face on it) Iron Monger by Librarian-Bot, on Flickr The Crimson Dynamo (aka playing with the new Nexo big figs some more) Crimson Dynamo by Librarian-Bot, on Flickr The Green Goblin (aka Norman Osborne) Normikins by Librarian-Bot, on Flickr Enjoy! I've been photographing a whole bunch of models today, including this little A-Wing in racing colours I knocked together a couple of months back. A bit of an exercise in refining wedge-shapes and locking upside-down sections in place. In terms of joints, I've always found that simple clips and bars are the most useful. It does however, greatly depend on scale. For a minifigure scale car, for example, I'd recommend investing in a lot of pneumatic t-pieces - they're exceedingly useful for limb joints. At a larger scale, click joints end up being the way to go - I generally favour them over ball joints for holding power and getting things aligned. With Transformers, you have to think about how the components will fit together in vehicle mode and ball joints, unfortunately, lend themselves to big gaping holes! That being said, the new small ball joint pieces allow for some excellent panel shaping and movable sections. Reverse engineering existing toys is a good starting point but you will almost certainly run into the problem that TF toys are built with much thinner panels, allowing for a much greater amount of compression. You'll probably find you have to change sliding motions into folds (for example, when I was building Sideswipe, I changed the back of the car so that it unfolded into the legs rather than sliding over them: like so.

Cheers! Had hoped to get more of these photographed by now but December in the South of England is not conducive to steady sunshine. So just three more for now: Serious bot is serious by Librarian-Bot, on Flickr Let's go crazy! by Librarian-Bot, on Flickr WHAT INDOOR VOICE? by Librarian-Bot, on Flickr Siren is a hovercar basically because I wanted to save on wheels. Can't say it didn't make him easier to build though! I've also added some instructions on how to build your own Rodimus Prime to my flickr stream, so do check those out if you're interested. Enjoy - and happy end of year if I don't miraculously get enough light in the coming days to post some more.

Thanks for the comments! Glad you all liked the model. No LDD file I'm afraid, mqbui1. I don't use it and rarely design things digitally anyway.

Thanks for the comments, folks! The interior was supposed to be all white but I didn't have enough plates, so it ended up a mix of greys and white. The seats would either have been black or white had I but enough seats in either of those colours - turns out I have a surprisingly large number of blue seats. The canopy is orange for similar reasons - though while I do now own a trans-black version of that part, I felt that wouldn't stand out enough. I think I'd have preferred to do it in trans blue if I could. Anyway, thoughts to be considered the next time I build a Blackbird!

I've had this model sitting around for a fair while and it's taking up a lot of space so I figured it was time to take some pictures and show it off. As well as I can, anyway - I did get some decent lighting this morning . . . only to find I'd photographed it with some bricks splitting in one of the tail fins. So . . . poor lighting for the intact shots. Ho hum. Enjoy regardless! So I have been building Lego Transformers since I was about twelve and first read some Transformers fiction (thank you, wonderful Ladybird books!). I'd say I've come a long, long way since first building gun-form Megatron. I've got dozens of the things clogging up my shelves at the moment, some of which I've had built up for a couple of years now. Unfortunately, I've not go around to photographing many of them, mainly due to the need to get consistent shots of both robot and vehicular forms. Hopefully over the coming weeks, this will change. They are a wild mix of types now but I started off building Micromasters with the intention that they all be roughly in scale with minifigures. First up, though about fourth built, is Roadhandler. I am immensely pleased with him because, despite the slightly gappy car mode, he was the first time I actually managed to construct a car-from Transformer that was anywhere near minifig scale. Universal feather-weight champion! by Librarian-Bot, on Flickr The next one (built far more recently) is a character roughly of my own invention (though he steals a name from an existing Autobot) who was based on . . . well, I'll let you guess that. Those mean machines . . . by Librarian-Bot, on Flickr The faction stickers are by Reprolabels. Enjoy! And do check back again later - I have many more to show off.

A small conversion chamber for turning hapless minifigs into fully functional Cybermen. Also an excuse to build that wonderful Cyber-symbol from the Doctor Who level of Lego Dimensions! Enjoy (at least until the Cybermen come to cut out all your emotions . . .)!

Thanks for the comments, guys! I've actually made some Sentinels of my own to a different design. Hopefully will get a chance to photograph them at some point soon! I *think* it was that piece that actually inspired me to build him - can't quite remember. It was great to find a use for it after years of sitting in my boxes doing nothing!

So the sun was shining this Bank Holiday and I took advantage of it to photograph (badly) some of the Marvel Comics mecha that have been cluttering up my living room for the past month. Oh, now that looks lovely! It really works in situ. I like your shaping on the foliage on the front corner and the way you've mingled the colours both there and on the tree. Love the Daleks running from the 12th Doctor too!

Yes, sorry I phrased the question rather the wrong way around! I did mean to ask whether the letter tile was the one you were planning on using or whether it was just a placeholder. Going through the bricklink catalog, I'm coming up surprisingly short on possible alternatives. I'd have assumed there would be at least one decorated 1x2 tile with some kind of inscription on it but the nearest I'm getting is a runic pattern from one of the old Harry Potter sets. I guess any actual statue inscriptions are on larger pieces!

I love the idea of building a rock-face around the end of a bookshelf! It should be a very nice looking tree too, when it's 'in the flesh'. Do you have any particular tile in mind for the Weeping Angel's plinth? My one worry looking at what you've got so far would be how firmly attached the TARDIS would be, especially given how hefty it is in its unmodified set-fresh form. Is it going to be clipped in place on the grass?
