  1. I agree, I have soem of the KRE-O transofrmer sets and MegaBlocks Halo sets, and both are undeniably good products. Lego may be a better product overall, but these alternatives are direct competitotrs and are worth it too. However, brands such as Best Lock are rubbish, and a little scary. They belong in Toy Story in the horror house next door lol
  2. Google it, a couple of shops have it, although I think Argos are the only one who has released it yet.
  3. I'm not so sure.. Pistols at dawn if you please The string is a good idea, I would have no problem in using non-Lego alternatives.
  4. James Bond Moonraker. One of the worst ones I think, James Bond is not an astronaut, and space fights with lasers etc belong in Star Trek and Star Wars (which I love). It's just like Han Solo and Luke going to a Casino and playing Baccarat whilst ordering the Belugar Caviar and the Bollinger Out of place!! 5/10.
  5. Just finished The Lord of The Rings. Better than the films IMO (although I do love the films). Now going to start (again) on the James Bond books, so Casino Royale :) Whcih leads me to think a James Bond Lego License would be awesome!
  6. In that case I don't have a problem with it
  7. I liked it, but some parts annoyed me. I don't know why some injuries have to be so unbelievable.. Loved Joseph Gordon-Levitt, bit of a man crush there Couldn't understand what Bane said though, and if the prison was the Arkham Asylum, then it sucked. Big time.
  8. I bought 10 of them
  9. Do the prices include postage? If not, how much would that be? Also, is the Kingdom Archer this guy: Kingdom Archer
  10. Undoubtedly some of the clone brands are terrifying. That spiderman... yeaugh That is a real monstrosity. But thankfully, they aren't all like that!
  11. Well said Aanchir. Very eloquent. And correct! And Sheep Eater, that is a distinct possibility isn't it?
  12. I had this set as a Child. I loved it! Great review, brought back some memories. Especially the Islanders Diorama!
  13. Welcome along! hope you enjoy the forums
  14. I give up, all I can say is I don't want to meet you in a dark street at night Although, I will say, and I can find you quotes for this if you like, that Smeagol was not a nice creature many years prior to the ring, he always stole and cheated in games etc, to the extent his own family disowned him. All before the ring. He was completely evil minded I am afraid. The ring perpetuated this and made him worse. As for Shelob not being evil, I really do think you should go read the book properly, it will give you a much better sense of her evilness. She is not an animal. Is the Balrog then not evil? Surely that is no more animalistic than Shelob. And even if she is 'just an animal' why can't she be evil?? The Fell beast and the Fell horse the Ringwraiths use are evil. The are animals.
  15. Quite simply, Shelob does more damage to Frodo than anything else in the whole trilogy. So she certainly isn't good, and is certainly a major factor in the books. Secondly, Shelob and Gollum strike a deal with each other. Yes, they physically strike up a deal, intentionally. She will not eat Gollum, if he brings her food occasionally. Also, Gollum is allowed to pass through her caves. This deal was done independently of Sauron. This clearly shows that she had a mind of her own perfectly capable of formulating her own plots and plans. So what if all she wants to do is eat? Hobbits don't want too much more than that themselves yet they aren't animals. This point also clearly shows how Gollum is evil. The idea that either of these characters aren't evil is madness. EDIT: Gollum voted as the 10th most evil movie chracter ever, plus a quote "he [Gollum]murdered Déagol (presumably a relative, though this is never stated) to get the Ring, which Déagol had found in the Anduin. The Ring amplified his evil tendencies and he took to spying and stealing." http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,20483133_20509776_20988516,00.html http://www.theonering.net/torwp/the-hobbit/characters/gollum/ Evil enough for you?
  16. Have to disagree with you Deathleech. Have you read the books? Sauron and Shelob had an unofficial 'agreement' - she would guard the passage, he would leave her alone, and occasionally throw her surplus orcs/prisoners. She certainly has a mind, could process ideas, etc, and was definitely evil. She is also much more intelligent than normal 'animals'. I would also argue that "Gollum", the schizophrenic being inside of Smeagols head, is evil, a cancer living off of Smeagols body. "Smeagol" is not evil, was at one time pure hearted. When "Gollum" overpowers "Smeagol", that being is now enrtirely "Gollum", "Smeagol" is destroyed in essence, and the remaining creature "Gollum" is most definitely evil. Gollum and Smeagol are two different beings trapped in one body, so to speak. Also, both Shelob and Gollum were included in the Warhammer packs as "evil", so I think that settles it
  17. Love this, really stylish little MOC, good job!
  18. Rosie Cotton should be made... maybe in a "Return To The Shire" Set For me, I agree with the majority in that the Orc Forge is not a very good Army Builder.
  19. As far as I know, Helm's Deep is retailing at around £100 generally in UK. That discount takes it down to £85, so it is worth it!
  20. Yes, I noticed Argos have got loads of stuff on offer, must be having a clear out
  21. Whoopsy! Sorry, I don't venture into the License forum much
  22. You could compare almost any story or film to another if you tried hard enough. Spiderman for instance, the reluctant hero being thrust into the action through no fault of their own (Parker and the Spidey bite/ Frodo and the inheritance of the ring) etc.. I had no idea how long that list was, else I would never have started
  23. Well, it would be even worse were there no competition, so thank your lucky stars for the clone brands They use the same stud system because it's the best. Some don't use the same system, but they are inferior. Lego did the same, they aren't the original brick builders. The UK company Kiddicraft designed the patent, Lego bought it off of them. Plastic quality is not poor on all the brands. Some of them, maybe most of them, yes, I agree. But there are some viable companies which make good quality products. Lego are just a cut above. Megabloks and Kre-O are not low quality. They are just not as good as Lego. There is a difference. Lego is pretty much unbeatable for quality. Kre-O and Megablocks arent as good, maybe by some distance, but this does not make them a bad product. I don't understand the point about forcing Lego into the Licences- surely if the other competitors are so poor, they have no need of licences? I love Lego. I always have. And they ARE the best. But for some of these other brands I think we should just give them a break. Some of them deserve the abuse they get, they are truly horrible things to use. But not all of them and they shouldn't all be tarred with the same brush.
  24. Firstly, apologies if this has already been covered. I have seen a few MOCs, but that's it. Is there anyone else who would love Lego to do an Assassins Creed theme? I nkow it's unlikely- too violent i guess However, let's for a second imagine they did. What sets do you think they could come up with? There is a Creed film being released next year, so I can live in hope that they release a Theme a la Prince of Persia
