  1. It seems to be in my local cinema. I can choose from seeing it in regular format, 3D 48 fps format, or 3D Imax format (fps unspecified). Since I can't stand having my eardrums blown out in Imax theatres (seriously, if I had a pacemaker I think it'd stop), that leaves the other 2 for me.
  2. Is anyone else nervous about seeing the film in 48 fps? I've watched the trailer with a high frame-rate, and it really threw me. I'm still not sure if I like it or not. I kinda felt like I was watching a BBC documentary or something - nothing like that classic cinema-feel. I figure I'll only be able to see this movie for the first time once, so I want it to make a good impression. I'd hate to be 30 minutes into it and still be weirded out by the FR. Regular frame rate or 3D high frame rate? The debate continues...
  3. Dear God... That is incredible! I don't normally find many MOC's aesthetically appealing, but this structure is fantastically gorgeous!
  4. eBay auction link for Gandalf Polybag: Here Courtesy of the Brickset Forums. (And I would hope I don't need to tell anyone not to pay that. )
  5. I was wondering the same thing, mostly because I was excited for another Christmas-themed minifig. I was wondering though, could we be mixing up parts from the Revolutionary soldier, Bumblebee Girl and the Female robot (wind-up)? It would seem so if those lists are accurate, and they sound to me like they are, though I'm a bit new to this. Such a shame, I was rather excited about a toy soldier minifig. (Though I guess there's nothing stopping me from making my own, huh?)
  6. List for series 10 and 11 released here: Series 10 Series 11 I'm going to try and refrain from deciding which ones I like the best before I see them, but it's hard, lol. (Edit: The Man himself beat me to it - see above)
  7. So could this be the Series 9 Cyclops torso? I don't recognize it from anywhere else... Cyclops Torso Edit: Nevermind, it's Clone Wars.
  8. I didn't see anything in their flyer, though you can go through their ads online as well.
  9. Photos were posted on brickset: http://www.bricksetforum.com/discussion/7783/galaxy-squad-sets-found-at-tru-canada#latest They look fun!
  10. These reviews are fantastic. You are doing a great service to those of us who grew up with these sets but will never be able to purchase them at their current prices. What a fantastic trip down memory lane. *happy sigh* (And I remember being just as excited about the small hiding place for the treasure chest as you were. )
  11. Anyone who's met her, I imagine. I made the mistake of starting to watch one of those videos last week and quickly turned it off. It's ridiculous - I can see what the figures look like in the pictures - I don't need to watch a video clip of someone pointing out the obvious details for several minutes. (With or without the wretchedly annoying child...) Really, Chadmin should be posting a disclaimer....
  12. No Hobbit sets in Fred Meyers in eastern Washington yet, but that's not unusual. Stuff usually shows up on the west coast first before making it's way over the pass. Perhaps mid-week next week after the holiday (Monday).
  13. I'm not so much either, though the one that really bugs be is the Goblin King. I'm all for him looking scary, but I just find his design...repulsively awful.. Could his jowls possibly look more disgusting? It's...almost offensive. What am I saying? It is offensive. I can definitely see Del Toro's influence in that one. He has a bit of a thing for taking unflattering, gross aspects of anatomy (usually human) and infusing them into his creature design. It worked for Pan's Labyrinth, but I don't particularly care for it in regards to the Hobbit. I like my fantasy scary and cool, not vomit-inducing, lol.
  14. I know, right! That's exactly what I was thinking!
  15. Oh no, that's certainly the suit I had in mind - I can't speak for Aanchir, though. It's a very stout design, and somehow the LEGO version ended up way too tall and thin. A bit stretched out if you will. A lot of it is their choice of pieces - though I'm not familiar enough with the LEGO piece database to know what they could've used instead. (I'm just secretly hoping that that round trans glass piece we see Baxter through isn't one giant sticker...) Ultimately, the final version just doesn't portray the weight and size of the cartoon counterpart. Not that I don't appreciate the try, but still.
  16. If you can afford it, I don't think I'd try and wait until after the holidays. It's been out long enough that the aftermarket prices post-EOL shouldn't be too high initially, but there's no sense in over-paying if you don't have to. It is one of the best castle sets ever IMO.
  17. Don't misunderstand me. I think the design team did an admirable job with what they were given (I mean we could've ended up with another MF Werewolf tree...), just that the subject matter doesn't lend itself to LEGO as well as other things. (And don't get me started on the amount of 'play features' crammed into that trunk. Oy.)
  18. I had the same thought. It's the one set that I was a bit disappointed in - I will definitely be creating my own more 'accurate to the show' version. (Or just a really cool-looking hybrid)
  19. I pity the person who had to design the Wargs set. I mean, it's a brick built tree, and it has to have some sort of platform system or playing space for the minifigs - and yet it has to look like a tree. I can't say it works all that well in the "looks like a tree" department. LEGO is always going to come up a bit short when it comes to organic structures. Architecture really is where it's at. As far as battle packs, I think it's something TLG might consider if sales warrant it. I'm not at all surprised it wasn't done in the first wave; so much of LEGO's popularity is tied up in their minifigures nowadays - I imagine that the common fear is consumers who pass on the sets and buy just the battlepacks to get figures. Of course, there's the idea of leaving exclusive 'special' figures in sets and only battle-packing (ha, new word) the generic ones... but I don't know, sales and marketing are funny - in some respects it's a bit of a slippery slope for LEGO.
  20. Okay, I loved this post but my first thought was "He has a MISB Black Seas Barracuda, and he has it sitting on the floor?!" Dear God, the horror! At least put it on carpet - you might scratch the box on those tiles!" (I mean really, just how clean is most people's linoleum?)
  21. Please be Black Monarch's, please be Black Monarch's... (Oh, and because I can never decide which I like better, how about 6086 Black Knight's Castle as well?) UPDATE: just2good is crushing my dreams...
  22. Awesome! The title on the Website is "Legends", followed by a pic of some classic castle designs. I don't think anybody else has mentioned this yet, but it looks like they're re-issuing classic castle sets just like they did 11 years ago with the previous "Legends" release. "Confirmed" (in so far as one can at this point) by Google Translate: "This category is intended for LEGO sets that have already been previously released. LEGO has decided a number of classics to return under the name LEGO Legends ..." Dare I hope?
  23. Wow! Awesome find! I was hoping for an afro hair piece for Baxter, though.
  24. Actually SirBlake, I totally agree with you. I just don't think the Hobbit lends itself to LEGO as well as Lord of the Rings did/does. It's first and foremost a construction toy, and in my opinion, it builds 2 things really well: buildings and vehicles. That's why I've always loved it. Granted, I'm more of a 'playset' kind of guy than a 'vehicle' kind of guy, but the point still stands. The Hobbit really doesn't have any of these. I mean it's essentially a journey across the realm to steal back treasure from a dragon. Building wise, we have what - Bag-End, Rivendell, the Elves of Mirkwood Forest, Laketown and the remains of a Dwarven civilization in the mountains? That's pretty much it, right? I just don't see much 'meat' there in terms of man-made structures to build out of LEGO. I think it's why were getting all of these brick-built 'scenes' for this line. I was initially overly excited when the License was announced, but after seeing the sets and coming to this realization, I can't say I'm all that thrilled any more.
  25. Yeah, those are like the bead sorting containers that I'm currently using. I guess I just wonder if the plastic-on-plastic rubbing is scratching my LEGO... Hmmm.
