  1. Looks like the world is full of unbelievers... Well, that's an Italian site; a publisher, one their titles being ToyStore (a preview can be found here). News reads: "The new line will be supported by a massive tv campaign and a dedicated website" Registering to their site requires full user name, address, and workplace data, so I'm not telling them the story of my life just to get a few more words about Lego Atlantis. Other Lego news they have: - Three TV Christmas Campagins (Police, Farm, Construction). - Third edition for the Retailer's catalogue, including Star Wars' Death Star and two Technic products). - Lego Italy has a new marketing manager. THe good news is you can browse their image directory here ; the bad news is you're not gonna find bigger images.
  2. EDIT August, 23rd: all Amazon page are off (I already posted this news). And, a couple of sets are NOT new for 2010. 3. To all the people asking for a link: I googled "Lego 7207 - City Feuerwehr schiff"and found this
  4. I google-translated it, and it goes like this: Lego 7684 - City-enclosure piglets with tractor (Ferkel means "pig", Gehege should mean "corral") Lego 7206 - City Fire Department helicopter Lego 3178 - City seaplane Lego 3177 - City city runabouts Lego 3179 - City car repair Lego 7213 - City fire fighting truck with boat Lego 3182 - City Big Airport Lego 3180 - City tank truck Lego 7207 - City Fire Department Boat Lego 7208 - City Big Fire Department Station I just wonder: are those 31## sets regular City or are they Duplo?
  5. I'd love such a theme!
  6. I like KK and KKII, but I rate this set 1 out of 5.
  7. Maybe it's because of the season, maybe because there hasn't been one out for a while: this is a bestseller, there are really a few (if any) left in shops nearby. I rated it above average.
  8. Oops... I'll be shooting a couple more pics and fix that. Edit: pic added. And could a Moderator please add "Review" to the topic title? Thanks.
  9. Oh look it’s flashing - This life among the stars (Milla Jovovich - The Alien song) Set data 7311: Red planet cruiser Year: 2001 Theme: Space Subtheme: Life on Mars Pieces: 73 (including extras) Price: 7 USD / ?? EUR / ?? UKP Building time: less than 10 minutes MISB on review: Yes More info: Brickset - Peeron Note: also available as part of 78777 value pack. Stock photo: Just to show you how the front of the box should look like. The alien seems to have yellow body and legs. Box front: Ouch! This must have been a bad landing! To the best of my measurements, box appears to be 192x94x44 mms or 7.8"x3.11"x1.11". One thing I found quite unusual is that the model doesn't fit in the front and some parts lie on the sides. Box rear: A couple of alternate models (yet the one on the left doesn't look so much different from the main model) Flight mode!. Box side: So the alien name is Altair (and it still has yellow body and legs). Value pack: Also included 7308 Double hover and 7309 Rover. Box content: Everything is safe! A small bag, a large bag, instructions sheet and a promo poster. Look, no stickers! Random instructions page: Here's one of the latest building steps, the mono-foot. Booklet has been folded in 3, and measures 208x128 mms or 8.2"x5.2". Life on Mars overview: No inventory or Lego sites advertising on the last page (except for the main one); there you can look at the theme (click for larger image) Promo poster: We all miss these posters, don't we? It's a double sided A4 paper, click for larger images. Loose pieces: We have three different colors for "Plate 3 x 6 without Corners". The model consists of 6 solid colors and trans neon orange. Altair's body and legs are actually lime green and not yellow! Its arms and printed head are teal. Minifig: "I come in peace and bring you printed tiles". As odd as the 1x2 display may look, the flamed 2x2 looks even odder to me. Is that supposed to be the engine's end? Or is it just a hole with fire inside? Not of this Earth: A selections of aliens, robots, droids and whatever you want to call them. Left to right: UFO droid Blue (3012/6800/6816), UFO alien (2543), Insectoid (6837), Mars mission jelly (7695), Altair (from this very set), SW Droid (7654), SW Assassin Droid (8015) Building: This set is mostly based on hinges. There are two on the front for those sorts of arms and two on the rear for the mono-foot. Building: Martians are cheap on comfort, so the pilot seat is a "Slope Brick 45 4 x 2 Double Inverted" Building: The Cruiser is made of two kinds of green and two kinds of gray. And those trans orange 1x1s remind me of car lights we use to warn we're changing direction. Building: Here are the engines, the control panel and the front arms. Building: Finally, the mono-foot, with the Rock Raiders "Cross with dome" later used in many Star Wars sets. Red planet cruiser: A first look at the complete model makes me ask: what are those arms supposed to be or do? Red planet cruiser: Side pic shows the Cruiser would be short and wide, if not for those engines. Red planet cruiser: Front view. Human minifigs have legs that connect to pieces. These aliens just "fit in". Red planet cruiser: Rear view. Three hinges (all of them two-wide) help you posing and balancing the Cruiser. Red planet cruiser: All hinges flat, then setting up the flight-mode. Review: With my lack of enthusiasm for some current themes like Agents or the new Space Police, I keep searching the net for MISB bargains. This one came in for less than 7,20 Euros including S/H, and buying a set that a) I like and b) it's no longer available paying the old RRP, well that's a bargain. This is not my first LoM set, not even my first alien set, still I think this first variation on a minifig was one of the best. Mars Mission jellies used to look bad, they look even worse compared to their predecessors. Altair can move its arms and head like SW droids do, and can stand up or sit down thanks to not being a single piece! Unlike some other LoM sets (7310, for instance) this one has a clever color scheme. I found the design original, meaning both funny and odd. I appreciate the set is raised so that helps saving space in display (the Cruiser can be posed with the cockpit one full minifig high from the ground) and the overall shape. But I'm not sure this set can work as a stand alone; no accessories, no other minifigs, nothing resembling a weapon, nothing much to do. I now think the stress of TLC on having at least one good minifig and one bad in every set has some raison d'être. One of my leitmotiv is "If I didn't like it, I wouldn't have bought it", therefore you know I'm going to rate this set average at least. Still, I think it could have been better and today's price raising somewhat makes me overrate old sets. Rating: Color scheme: 5/5. Two green, two grays and a little of orange; the whole thing is simple and good looking. Alien colors are nice too. I'd stay with two-tones on these aliens (some have three). Minifigs and accessories: 3/5. I've been thinking a lot about this one. As much as I like the minifig, this is no Blacktron for sure, and it comes with NO accessories at all. That would sometimes lead to a bad rating, but I don't think this is the case. Pieces: 4,5/5. Not so many, and not so different kinds, but I dig them. Sand green is always welcome, hinges are useful and those "Hinge Arm Lockings" remind me of my first space set ever, 6822. Extras include robot arms in the two colors and some 1x1s. Playability: 2,5/5. Definitely average; it could be much better. What can a kid do with those front arms? What else is there to do than posing the Cruiser? Design: 3,5/5. I like the colors and the shape, but this is another model that's more worth displaying than playing. Overall rating: 3,5/5. A little above average, not bad but underachieving; more suitable as a collector's item than as a child's toy. The final words: I've said it before, and I'll say it again: SpIII sucks. give us classic space back!
  10. I found odd that in this ad the Uranium search vehicle comes with a red windscreen (box at the bottom of the page) instead of a yellow one. And, as for this one: did Classic space and Blacktron co-exist? An Italian site, nijirain, has a lot of stuff from the 80's including printed ads. Here' some Lego. <- click for larger image. 11. Shouldn't there be a neutral option too? Well, I'll think on.
  12. "Take me back to my boat on the river - And I won't cry out any more..." (Styx - Boat on the river) Set data 7410: Jungle river Year: 2003 Theme: Adventurers Subtheme: Orient expedition / India Pieces: 65 (including extras) Price: 8 USD / ?? EUR / ?? UKP Building time: less than 10 minutes MISB on review: Yes Official description: Johnny Thunder is piloting his boat down the winding jungle river, in search of a clue to the location of the Golden Dragon. But watch out! If he sails too close to the shrine, he might disturb that hungry crocodile! More info: Brickset - Peeron Box front: Box is 143 mms. square and 46 mms. deep (5.10" x 1.14") Box rear: A couple of alternative models and some sketches of other Adventurers sets. Box side: No 1:1 minifig, but J.T. and his croc friend. Box content: One large bag, one small bag, a loose boat and instructions. No game cards. Loose pieces: We have 11 solid colors and 4 trans colors. That must be a record for a set this small! Random instructions page: Instructions are 145 x 100 mms (5.12" x 3.15"). Here's one page of the shrine instructions... Random instructions page: ...and here's one page of the boat instructions. Theme overwiew: At the end of the instructions booklet we have a theme overview (in case you want to know, 7413 is Passage of Jun-Chi and 7416 is Emperor's ship) and a look at the layout of the card game. As you can see, both this set and the Secret of the tomb don't have cards. Man and beast: So here's Johnny Thunder wearing green, green as the crocodile. The four of J.T.: From left to right: regular tan J.T. (from Passage of Jun-Chi and Temple of gloom), green J.T. (from this very set), brown J.T. (from Aero Nomad), and tan J.T. with different head (from Adventurers car). The shrine: Here's what the shrine is made of. A plate with columns in the rear and some panels hiding two diamonds, a hinged plate, a skull with a "jungle headdress" and two odd arms, a small bridge piece with some leaves. The shrine: Bird's eye view of the open treasure lid. The shrine: And now a front and rear view of the closed lid. The boat: It looks like this boat has a steering wheel instead of a ship wheel! On the right, we have the boiler opening. The boat: And here's a front view with the chimney too. The boat: I would think there's something wrong getting fire instead of steam or smoke, but I'm not a boatman so I just might be wrong The boat: This is Johnny's box of tools, with two ol' dynamite tiles, a rifle, a shovel and a pickaxe. Why does he need a chain? The boat: Because the boat is small, and if you have a guest he must let the box float on the river. Complete set: Including 5 extra pieces, and the snake finally making its appearance Bonus shot: Now you see me, now you don't! Review: I have to admit I basically bought this set because it has some interesting (= rare) pieces and for 8 Euros and a few cents (S/H included) it seemed like a good deal. After all, with 8 Euros today you can only get the new 8402 Sports car or the 8957 Mine mech. The shrine is simple (something to open and a treasure inside to be found) yet a bit too colorful, and as far as a skull has once been a human head, what are those side horns supposed to be? The boat looks good in gray and it has been filled with the steam motor (looking realistic to me) and the tools box. Johnny can hardly see anything but he's smart and knows the he just needs to lean out like he does on the front box pic. His green torso is a welcome change after all his boring tan outfits. Keeping comparison with those two 8 Euros set I earlier mentioned, this one outplays the Sports car thanks to all the little details, and even if a minifig alone can't have a heel human counterpart, at least he has two dangerous animals to fight. The more I review Adventurers set, the more I think that Lego seems to have lost some over the last few years; while juniorization in town set seems to be gone for good, those set now belonging to the action forums look less AFOL-friendly to me. Or maybe I'm just getting too old. Rating: Color scheme: 4/5. I like the boat as it is, while I think the shrine is a bit too colorful. Minifigs and accessories: 5/5. A slightly different Johnny (green torso available in two more sets) will have his hands full with all those accessories and weapons. And there are more gems here than in some larger sets (like Yeti or Jun-Chi)! Pieces: 5/5. That hairdress - plain yellow with no printing - is an exclusive (and not available in any other color). Gray boat and dark blue animal tails are exclusives too. Those tails are hard to find in other colors too. Luckily they are a quite useless piece (unless you build something like this!). Extras include a second revolver and the usual 1x1s. Playability: 4/5. Johnny can dig, Johnny can shoot, Johnny can place dynamite, Johnny can fight animals, Johnny can finally get those gems. He's surely in for a busy day! Design: 4/5. I already said about the shrine. The boat doesn't look bad, but I'm really not sure in J.T. can see the hazards that wait for him on the river. Overall rating: 4,5/5. Close to perfect. Lots of pros and a really few cons. The final words: Can't TLC drop Agents and give us Adventurers back?
  13. We're getting these things in Italy too, there's even a TV commercial spreading the word around.
  14. They shouldn't be glued, I think. That's what makes piece count = 90.
  15. A review, to me, is always welcome! And I guess, to many other people out there too.
  16. That was just Brickshelf scr*wing up things. Refresh and you shall now see pics.
  17. Or just by learning terms like Instructions, Box, Piece(s), Minifig in at least three foreign languages
  18. So rock monsters use to bath with toy-ducks? Nice scene!
  19. You might have read I wrote there were three, but I'm editing Id' say four (but I might be wrong): obviously all in yellow and none fleshie.
  20. The pirate battle pack looks great. Still, another pack with already built minifigs (and a custom made container... doesn't that raise the price?) As for MF4, I can't believe it, they also included the blue classic spaceman, making it 5/5. I can't find the topic "what should there be in the next MC", and can't remember my suggestion, but I have to say they did something great, with two of everyone's favs and something totally unexpected.
  21. Exactly. I had to blindlink* the TTT box pic. * To blindlink: to write a link to an image hosted on Brickshelf while the image isn't availbale, basing on usual link structure, folder name and image name.
  22. Thanks for this review too! I'd love to buy one of these for a decent price, let's see when they become available in this part of the world too.
  23. They won't, the TTT will be impossible to find as usual There are; I couldn't find the link to the pic so I stamped it
  24. While browsing S@H for the Brickmaster book, I found something more interesting. Pic is link to the U.S. page. (or just go to S@H and search Item #: 852750) I say: A bit confusing to play, with all those different figs, but an outstanding minifig pack! Edit: polls added.
  25. 1) First ever: a couple of Minitalia sets. Full story here. 2) It has to be the classic 6692 yellow truck. 3) Chewing rubber tyres. 4) House (click here) 5) 6830 (I just entered my dark years) 6) See link at point 4. 7) If they were bad, no one saw them. 8) Too many to mention. Let's pick this one.
