  1. If they're going to retire the BATB castle, I'd like a larger version of it to become the new flagship set.
  2. Even the Lego Marvel Super Heroes game had Reed change into some different forms. I think a trampoline or something like that, maybe a glider or that might have been a different game. The giant fists were in the first Marvel Ultimate Alliance game. I guess the VFX for video game portrayals doesn't require as much realism so they can be as creative as they want to be in Marvel Rivals or other games, unlike the movies. Disney is notorious for their cheap effects in MCU movies despite overly inflated budgets. And the budgets we hear about are always underreported and they're at least 30% higher than what's published. Hopefully. It would be a missed opportunity not to.
  3. Divination has really been ignored by the Harry Potter theme for the last few years outside of those book classroom sets that had one themed to Trelawney. I think it's overdue to appear in a new set. Like you, I do hope this isn't the last Hogwarts expansion set. We need at least an Astronomy Tower. That's a good idea to pretend Lupin's classroom is really the room where he teaches Harry Expecto Patronum. I'd rather have on DADA classroom that is consistent to how it looks in all the movies. The skeleton would be great and I hope they include it although I won't hold my breath. It really ties the room together.
  4. I guess that's true. I haven't been keeping up with all the Doomsday leaks so I'm not sure how prominent the Baxter Building will be in the movie and if it'll be some sort of central hub for all the heroes that could justify making it the main set of the movie. Sony has never had a good handling of the Spider-Man spinoff movies. Morbius being the biggest example along with its re-release campaign. They genuinely thought people wanted to see the movie once, let alone twice. I always disliked the Rhino mech and its shape. You're right that the silhouette of the standard mech would be better suited for Reed. His ability to change form means you could swap out his hands for different shapes like a mallet or a razor disc. But Marvel has really downplayed the way Reed can stretch his body into different shapes particularly with the movie where he barely stretched at all, let alone in anything all that imaginative or creative. I guess the VFX budget didn't allow for it or they thought nobody would take Reed seriously. The 2005 movie and its sequel had a much better handling on his powers (and basically all the characters imo). If we ever get any Doom mech sets, it'll probably just be a giant Doombot.
  5. I wasn't impressed with how Lupin's DADA classroom was represented, missing the staircase leading to the office. So I hope a second shot at it will fix that and they more accurately render the classroom and its office for Lockhart.
  6. Toy Story 3 and Toy Story 4 both got playscale sets so I'm wondering if TS4 sets didn't sell well enough which is why they're skipping out on TS5. We did get that Toy Story anniversary train set last year.
  7. Doom's new minifigure is such a great upgrade. I always thought his original minifigure was rather basic and didn't really represent his true stature. But I agree that a rubber cape covering up the gold medallions is rather stupid. At least it's easy to swap out the cape for a cloth one. Kinda want more of those X-Mas sweater torsos from Wolverine to give to the whole X-Men team. Would have loved color-coded versions (magenta for Gambit, green/yellow for Rogue, white for Storm, etc.) Lol I didn't realize they did it on purpose so they could make it bomb twice. That makes a lot more sense. Reed would work since his power lets him change shape so it would be easy to design a mech around him. But Ben's rocky form makes him ideal for a mech form and he's the most popular member of the team (which makes him being so underused in the MCU movie even more crazy). If the Baxter Building was the Doomsday modular set, wouldn't they just call it the Baxter Building instead of a Doomsday set?
  8. Maybe, I'm not sure who they'd pair Doom with though. Good theory about Miles vehicles compared to Peter ones. And I agree that Morbius isn't enough of a draw to sell a set on his own. He's not a household name and his movie didn't make any traction with general audiences/consumers, which is even more evident by the fact that the re-release of the movie tanked despite the so-called hype of the memes. I'm guessing this is also why the minifigure wasn't recycled in other sets since then, whereas Goblin, Doc Ock, Venom, etc. appear in multiple sets every year.
  9. I agree, I think Doom would sell better than any of the individual FF members. They're not very strong as a brand anymore, let alone as individuals. That being said, Thanos only got A-List popularity because he was well received in Infinity War. We'll have to see if audiences accept Doom in Doomsday or not because if the character fails to resonate, then I can see that hurting chances for more solo merch of him. I wonder if the Morbius set sold well or not. It was one of the cheaper sets and an easy way to pick up a new character, that too one that was teased in the Daily Bugle set, so I feel like it would have done well with its price point.
  10. That makes sense about why they included Julia Carpenter, to tie-in with Madame Web. Didn't the Morbius set also come out around the time of the movie's release? I remember reading that Sony wanted SM4 to be another multiverse film after the massive success of NWH but Disney wanted it to be a more traditional Spider-Man film, to really establish him as a street hero. But considering it's the lead-in film to Doomsday, I can't see them avoiding the multiverse. It seems like they'll double down on that. I'm partial to the bathtub version of the Fantasticar. Really wish we could get an official comic set of that. I actually have a birthday cake topper of it from way back when the 2005 movie came out.
  11. Yeah, the hat would cover up any bald spot anyway. They specifically downsized the BATB castle so as to not compete with the D2C set, which was meant to be the flagship set of the franchise. But considering how quickly that was retired, it seems like it was a big blunder to not make the BATB castle the new flagship set. It really needed to be a much bigger castle and I hope we'll get a larger remake in the future.
  12. Is it just the poncho that's new for him? Looking forward to finally getting Slinky in Lego form. I hope they bring back Hamm. He's rather expensive from the older sets.
  13. I've heard that rumor too. I wouldn't mind it but it seems random to insert in a Spider-Man movie. But based on how they're filming the X-Men film soon, I can see them sprinkling certain characters in earlier movies. Animated shows in general don't get much views compared to the live-action ones. I think X-Men '97 was on par with S1 of What If? So even the lowest watched live-action shows, like Echo, will have exponentially more viewership than the highest-rated animated shows. Also the show was based entirely on nostalgia for the 90s show and it was way too esoteric for any small kids, who aren't familiar with the X-Men, to watch and become fans. So I can see why the Lego sets catered to adult collectors. Wolverine has the Insomniac game coming out which makes me hope Lego will at least make some sets featuring him to "tie-in" with the game even without being officially based on the game. There should be quite a few major X-Men characters in the game listed below. I guess it was popular enough for Disney+ in terms of animated show viewership but that didn't translate to sales for toys or Lego sets. Spider-Man and Batman seem to be the only two really marketable superheroes left. Not sure if even the MCU Phase 1-3 movies will be popular for Lego in the next generation, the way Harry Potter and LOTR remain evergreen franchises. I think most people would have wanted a minifigure-scale HERBIE to go with the FF minifigs.
  14. This seems to confirm that the X-Men sets undersold. I remember someone posted here that Lego was on the fence about making more X-Men sets until they saw the sales figures for the X-Mansion and X-Jet. Them skipping out on Season 2 definitely indicates those sets must not have met expectations. Which doesn't surprise me considering how pricey and underwhelming they both were. I only got them because I'm a major X-Men fan and even then, I waited a long time before getting them rather than immediately. I guess we'll never get a comic Nightcrawler, Jubilee, or Angel to match the minifigures we do have of the X-Men. I love how we still don't know who Sadie Sink's character is.
  15. Thanks, I didn't realize it was that insect looking creature in Toy Story 3.
  16. I'm wondering if this means that the non-Hogwarts sets from the later movies are less popular and sell less than the Hogwarts sets from the first few movies if they're being retired so quickly. Didn't the Ministry of Magic and Grimmauld Place sets retire rather quickly as well? Lego continuously making sets on the first 2-3 movies implies merch for those early movies sell better. I saw a streaming list of the top 10 most streamed movies of the year, and the first two Harry Potter movies were on it even though they're basically 25 years old at this point. It does imply the public's more invested in the original movies.
  17. Yeah, it's basically a lose-lose situation depending on the perspective. Magneto bust with the helmet would be nice. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if we end up getting one for Doom with his mask at some point. Especially if Doom's character is well received in Doomsday.
  18. That's true, I've seen buildable figures in almost all the major themes so they clearly sell well. Wouldn't be surprised if we eventually get a buildable Gollum for LOTR. Winnie the Pooh used to be the most lucrative kids franchise in the 2000s, even above Mickey Mouse. But once Bob Iger got control of Disney, they basically stopped making more Pooh movies, shows, merch, etc. so I think his popularity has faded as a result of Disney mostly ignoring him. I don't know about Europe but Pooh must still be popular in the UK considering that's his home country. I know he's mega-popular in Japan. And despite what propagandists say, he's actually really popular in China too.
  19. The issue might also be that once you've spent so much money on one theme, it feels like a waste if you stop collecting that and move onto something else. You have to justify all the money and time you spent on all those previous sets, so you double down on getting more rather than moving onto something else. Exactly. I know the feeling lol.
  20. This is me too. There's just way too many locations in Harry Potter for me to buy all the sets that aren't at Hogwarts. I only have Diagon Alley that isn't a Hogwarts themed set, and as much as I love that set, I do regret getting it because I have no space. Particularly since I also collect Disney and Marvel. And am strongly considering getting into LOTR, which I've also avoided due to lack of space.
  21. I'm wondering if the minifigure-scale sets don't sell as well. Lego keeps making buildable characters as sets, between Mickey and Minnie, Simba, Stitch, Angel, Patch, Lucky, Penny, and now Pooh and Piglet. So there's clearly a market for these types of sets if Lego keeps doubling down on them. When the original Winnie the Pooh set came out, Lego designers said they wanted to make more Pooh sets like Tigger's treehouse or Piglet's house. But we never got any more sets like that so I wonder if sales were soft.
  22. I saw someone on Instagram say that Donkey is an accessory and not a minifigure. So that checks out. Human versions of Fiona and Shrek come to mind. Not to mention Fairy Godmother in her red dress. Lego gave us Huey, Dewey and Louie in a Disney CMF series but they had different color clothing and were part of a 18-minifigure line. The Three Little Pigs look identical except for their hats. Might be easier to just give us one of them as a minifig but include three different hats that you could insert onto the molded head. So you can collect three of what's essentially one minifigure to get them all, rather than waste three separate slots. Good point. Lol, how could I forget Doris.
  23. They're cute sets although I wouldn't pick them up personally. The new Pooh minifigure doesn't really interest me. They're a nice way for people who missed the original set to pick up the minifigures. Hope we can get a Christopher Robin minifigure one day. Both sets depict Tigger and Rabbit which make me wonder if they'll come up with more buildable sets to feature one or both of them in minifigure form. Tigger, particularly, is super popular and I can't imagine Lego would miss out on a chance to include him somewhere.
  24. With the movie being delayed, it makes sense that the sets would be too. The nice thing is that a minifigure of him can be repurposed for one of Disney's Merlin. Yeah, it seems odd that the majority of the characters are from the first two movies, which are easily the most popular of the series, but then they left one spot for Merlin. Shrek Forever After is more popular than Shrek the Third so it would have made more sense to include Rumpelstiltskin. Maybe if there's a second series.
