I think your stock is pretty good, too. Since you're kind of tight on money, I doubt there would be much you could buy anyway . Perhaps some more Tonics to boost your Ether?

What an interesting party I'm in! Eric and Erdathcath are definitely somewhat more darker, pragmatic indivuals, so I wonder how the "good" monk Pretzel will react if their actions during the Quest take a darker turn . Also, the interaction between the über-religious monotheist monk and polytheist "pagan" Eric will probably be tense ...

After his spending spree Eric decided to return to the Hall. He was right on time it seemed, for the new party had been announced. Eric quickly scanned over the leaflet. "Hmmm, Erdathcath," he thought. "Nice" he grinned as he thought back at their Quest together fighting the pirates. The Elf was one of the first to side with Eric when the decision arose of letting Jolly Roger go. She had also supported him during his violent interrogation of the female scientist. She had proven to be a worthy companion indeed. The Nord sighed at the sight of the name "Pretzel". Seriously? Who names himself after food? The fact that he was a monk was no better, either. Probably one of those foolish Southerners preaching about his inferior god. Hopefully, the man wouldn't be running in the way too much. Suddenly, the Raider was taken out of his pensive mood. He turned around and saw Erdathcath. She looked different than before. More ... wooden, more ... outlandish. "No, I believe we'll do just fine. You can always buy more bombs if you want, but we're already pretty stocked on those now. Anyway, do you know this Pretzel guy?" ------------------------------ Current sign-ups for Quest #45 - Nagure (Costy) - Dreyrugr (Vash the Stampede) - Raven Ashcroft (Raven Brickcroft)

Eric walked into the marketplace. It was teeming with people, crawling about like ants. Just a normal day in a bustling commercial hive like Eubric city. The Nord's pockets were filled to the brim, his last Quest had been a good one. He was eager to spend some of it, his equipment was in dire need of upgrading if he was to keep up with the top heroes of the Hall. First, Eric went to visit Anwyl's shop. There, he handed over his trusty sword Godricsleif to the Dwarf. The blacksmith was seemingly surprised by its heavy weight and dropped the blade. With lots of huffs and puffs and a great effort, he managed to pick the blade back up, but before he was finally able to do so, the Dwarf was struck by an icy bolt emanated by the blade. Godricsleif refused to abandon its one and only master, Eric. In a soothing voice, the Nord whispered to his blade and handed it over to a fearful Anwyl. Reluctantly he accepted. He then set to work on the sword, perfecting its shape and imbuing Eric's Amethyst. Eric upgrades Godricsleif to WP: 13 and imbues the Amethyst for a total cost of - 300 gold (120+130+50). As Anwyl decides to work on Godricsleif, Eric decides to stroll around the market. Not having any use for the Soma on him, he decides to visits Portia's Shack to get rid of it. While he's there, he also decides to stock up on some consumables. Eric sells his Soma, earning + 22, bringing his total to 1073. He then buys 10 Grand Potions (-100) and 5 Smelling Salts (-125). This leaves him with 848 gold left. Curious about the new shop, Eric decides to check out the wares there, as well. Finding some stuff to his liking, he drops some gold there too. Eric buys Sticky Gloves (-500). After a heavy afternoon of spending, Eric is left with 348 gold.

Same here, I got several ideas for Quests and I have even sent one to Sandy for approval (and got his approval), but working it out in real life is a lot harder than I thought. Building backdrops and planning out the whole thing is way more time consuming than I would've thought it to be. Also, since it's been a while since I sent my Quest pitch, I've been reworking it over and over in my head, and now I'm no longer quite satisfied with my original idea and want to make it a trilogy of some sorts . My hat's truly off to all those QM's hosting those beautiful quests! You have my utter respect . Eventually, I also want to host a Quest in a Norse setting once. I have rough ideas to weave it into my trilogy (still in planning fase!), but again it'll be very difficult to actually work it out in a way that satisfies me. EDIT: Also wanted to say I really LOVE the Ma'ari quest. Great stuff there!

Eric's eyes widened as Lawrence confessed slaying the Vampires. Angrily he jumped up and shook his head, the Nord slammed his hands on the table. "Blasphemy! Why would you slay a Vampire? Those blessed with eternal life, waging an endless war. The epitome of the free predator, true children of our mother Helvetia!" The pale raider gnashed his teeth. He was appalled by Lord Boomingham's course of action and his subsequent boasting, but he was a true friend and ally. Eric knew the man didn't know any better. It took some time before he regained his calm posture, but eventually Eric sat back down. He spoke little afterwards, he didn't really know what to say to Lawrence. Instead he turned to the young mage as she spoke. Eric chuckled. "Fools! Why would you stay inside? An encounter with a true Vampire is a unique experience that should be treasured. You should consider it an honour when one chooses to fight you. It is a true test of strength and capability. You fail and you die, turned into a grizzly trophy of the Hunt. Death at the hands of a Vampire is the greatest of sacrifices one can achieve. If you are lucky and if you fought bravely, you may be spared and be granted an eternal life of struggle and feast yourself. There's is nothing to be feared except your own cowardice." The Nord rolled his eyes at the monk's remark. The ignorance in the South was stiffling. Eric needed to get out. Before he left, though, he went to check the Questboard. To his surprise, a plethora of Quests were posted there. He read through all of them, then decided to put up his name for #40: The Strivvian Job and #43: Protect my Brother. After some doubting, Eric decided to write down his name for #42: The Meaning of it All, as well. He then left the Hall and went down to the Market.

A faint smile came to Eric's face as he pocketed the coin he received from Tesni. Eric motioned towards Scherehazade to order some drinks and took a seat. As soon as the Orcish lady put some drinks on the table, Eric took his pint and mumbled thanks to the waitress. He raised his glass and said "cheers. On past successes and future adventures!" The Nord took a huge gulp of his ale and then turned his attention to those sitting at the table. He knew most of them, except one. A young woman with brown hair, accented with white. She was dressed in purple. Eric guessed she was probable some sort of magic user. He could've sworn he'd seen her before, somewhere in the distance, in the background, but he couldn't quite put his finger on the "where" of it all. The Nord's attention was quickly drawn from the female wizard back towards old Boomers. "You've encountered Vampires? Here in Eubric?" Eric asked, a slight trace of surprise in his voice.

Eric entered the Hall. He'd been away for a long time. A very long time. The place was overly crowded. Not to his liking. As he walked in some adventurers unknown to the Nord stared at him, as if they were his equals. Fools, they'd never be equals. Even though, Eric had seemingly spent ages South, he had still retained his rather pale complexion. Still a pure Nord, still mad at the world, still arrogant. Nothing changed, except the faces in the Hall. Towering high above most of the Hall's inhabitants, it didn't take Eric too long before he had found the particular Berserker he was looking for. Calmly, he strode up to her, quite arroganly. Slowly striding, head up and chest forward, like a king walking to his throne before the eyes of the world. His pockets were tinkling with coin. The loot had been fat and it would only get better. Shortly, he found himself in front of the table Tesni was sitting at. "I believe you still have some coin for me?"

Since it's tradition to comment on past quest, I'll do so as well for #27. Overall, I found it to be a good quest. The pictures and backdrops were really nice and it was great fun to see some recurring characters. I admit there wasn't much interaction with these recurring characters (like Cinna and Sorrow), because mainly I thought they were just eye candy, easter eggs. I didn't really feel the need to talk to them, since In Character Eric barely knows these people. So why bother? Also, didn't most likely wouldn't have had any information related to the Quest, so from a purely gaming perspective there was no real need to talk to them either. I have to agree with another point of criticism that has been given here in this thread: the lack of player activity/interaction. Sometimes I really felt kind of lost at what to do in the Quest. Moments that have been designated as RP moments now kind of felt like waiting time for some event to be unveiled. So, I mostly decided to just wait and post nothing, because I didn't really know what else to do. Nearing the end of the Quest, my posting activity went way down. I have to day that has nothing to do with the Quest, but with my personal life. I started working near the end of the Quest and had little free time, so I choose to spend my free time out with friends than sitting at home at my computer. I thought I would've been able to post more, but I was seemingly wrong . The loot was really good, though. Probably the best I've ever received during a Quest (oh yeah Silverfish Wings and Boots of Evasion ). I don't really have a lot to say about the story. Overall, I liked it, even though I felt really lost at some times. I didn't really get Favarious' intentions and the end was kind of weird somehow. But still, it was good overall . Thanks for hosting, darkdragon!

Heroica RPG - Quest #27: Badger Badger Badger

Eric disliked the mage even more after his confession, but he was glad that he would receive an artifact after all. There would've been some sort of reward surely, even if Eric had to beat the man to a bloody pulp to get it, but there would've certainly been a reward. However, it's was nice change not having to fight, threaten or extort the employer to receive a payment. The Nord scanned the artifacts. THe faint smile on his pale face quickly turned sour. There wasn't a whole lot for him to pick from. He shrugged and then pointed at the Boots of Evasion. "I'll take those" -

"Well, we used to have a Cleric on our team. Past tense, though. He bailed on us" Eric replied to the woman. He was standing in the back, taking in the scene from a distance. He leant against the wall, looking at ease and relaxed. Truthfully, his nerves were racing fast. He had held his hands closely to his Silverfish Wings the entire ordeal. You never know when the flames of battle spring up again. Thankfully, the Orcish mage had defused the situation. Still, there was something awfully fishy about this entire operation, but the Nord couldn't really put his finger on it. As the mercenaries exited the room, Eric looked down upon them in a patronizing way. He shugged his head. "Idiots. Never let amateurs do a professional's work" -

Eric brushed the blood off his blade and retrieved his Silverfish Wings from the bodies of the dead badgers. He had been reluctant at using these at first, but now they had become an integral part of his arsenal. He sat down as Bocaj went to check the doors and Tesni was looking at the gems. "I'd like the Garnet. Don't really care much for the others" -

Eric raised an eyebrow as the old wizard apparently went insane, as if possessed by some sort of demon. As the maniacal mage started chanted, Eric threw an inquisitive look over at Tesni and shook his head. He muttered something but it was too silent for Tesni to make out the words. Most likely, it was something along the lines of "what is this crap?" The Nord grunted. What was it with all these power-hungry mages? He uncorked one of his many Meads and gulped it down, together with his last portion of Smelling Salts. "I've got a bad feeling about this," he grumbled and prepared himself to end this madness the way he was used to the most: using brutal violence. EDIT (for clarifaction and QM's ease): Eric drinks a Mead and uses Smelling Salts. -

The girls handled the boxes-business, so Eric had some time to look around. The wizard sure lived in a majestic building. Eric strolled around in the room and looked at the many items stalled out. He was particularly interested in the armors. As a child of the North, he could definitely appreciate top-knotch metal craftmenship. Softly Eric touched one of the beasts to feel if they were real once or if they were just statues. "Where did you find these?" he asked. -

Eric shrugged. Then a dastardly smile appeared on his face. "I don't know, Toby," he started his reply, "one shard of Mythril seems an awfully small reward for four of us." As he spoke the last part of his reply, he waved his hands around to make clear to Toby the party consisted out of four members. He ever so slightly titled his head and continued: "See Toby, all four of us did our very best to protect your interests from the raging brutality of these walking carpets. If it weren't for us, your bank's days would be over. Your good name and reputation would've gone down the drain. Your bank would've been lost, so would the savings and perhaps even some of these people's lives. Luckily, we intervened. We saved your future, Toby" Eric faked a concerned and caring look as he laid his arm across Toby's shoulders. "I'm sure you'll find it in your righteous heart that we deserve something a little better for saving your future? If you can't justify this personally, then try looking at this from a business side. We saved your named and enterprise, Toby, I'm sure that's worth an investment?" -
