I'm not really good at clarifying an issue, but among all coments I guess Peppermint_M's corresponded to the qustion in my mind. Well, the topic is about "script", because it represents the way TLC do. The topic was to talk about the major action themes we have now, not to come up with a totally new theme that only features girls. As you said, it's literally a theme for girls, and it receives less attention from boys. Perhaps TLC would think about it one day if they got enough female customers. I did say "we got many amazing brave heroines so far". TLC do know how to make "female heros", but I don't really see that they can create more of them as diverse/many as the male ones. For the upcoming The Lego Movie, since we only see three protagonists so far, I don't really think there's need for other girls besides Wyldstyle. I think that's the point I'm worried about. The new action themes look more like what normal boys think and want, while TLC don't usually play a role that gives new attitudes.

A very random question, but I'm curious about how most consumers and kids think. In earlier themes, we simply see that female minifigures seldom appear in action themes, from Agents (more than 2) to Power Miners (no girls). Howeve, it becomes more obvious when TLC focus on more media marketing like cartoon and games. When we see actual stories, there are no longer generic minifigures but "characters", and the result is girls still have very little participation in those plans for action themes. In the first focused media story Ninjago, we had four ninja boys and then got another one in series two. Though there was a red samurai who seems to complement this team, we don't see her more important role in later stores (much like Hitomi from Exo-force). In Chima, though the story provides a brave main heroine Eris, there are not many female worriors in the whole Chima world. Still, they add villainesses that Ninjago didn't include. Well, it doesn't mean that all girls ask for more girl minifigures, or every theme has to be girl-friendly The fact is undeniable that boys are still the major consumers of action themes. It's more like a question of perception: do only male protagonists appeal consumers to buy the sets? Can't female characters look brave and cool and win their heart? Though we do get many amazing brave heroines so far, I think TLC still have to go on higher levels in story designs. In Friends, which targets at girls, has the same thing that boys seldom appear in their story. The only difference could be that girls can do their own interests, but they look irresponsible when world crisis come and all the duty are left to boys (just imagine that Ninjago City is actually Heartlake City). The other solution can be that TLC can find other successful licenses which introduces female protagnists, and it could chance the viewpoint of consumers.

Simpsons Collectable Minifigures aka Series 13 (non-official term)
Dorayaki replied to kasmca's topic in Special LEGO Themes
That's the problem to me. The value of CMF (for both original or licensed themes) should be exclusiveness, and putting repetitive characters makes licensed CMF plans much less convincing. It's like peoeple don't want Johhny Thunder and Emmet in Lego Movie CMF. We've had enough with protagonists that appears in every licensed set, not even to think about CMF. -
Simpsons Collectable Minifigures aka Series 13 (non-official term)

First of all shouldn't it be part of the license Simpsons thread? Why here is another thread? I think it's very unreasonable and unrelated to say that Simpsons are unpopular so they should get out of Lego. It doesn't mean that Superheros are really popular so they can hijack CMF. Licensed CMF do fit in some cases that so many iconic characters from a certain theme can't be in large sets, and this is actually what other fans expect. I also want to see other themes like Superheros or Disney have the same plan. We should hope that original and licensed CMF can run neck to neck. The only concern is if there will be more licensed CMF series, should it use a special title like Olympics and seperate from other original CMF series? Or does it mean that TLG would stop making more original CMF? -
It's not the first time that TLC make aternate prints. Still in commercial aspects it's also dangerous to include lots of unwelcome figures in a collectible series. It can be great if some awesome and iconic alternative clothes can be chosen, but as the rumor said, there are too many Simpsons included at one time.
-
UH, don't expect to see characters that we can already get from the Simpsons House too. They should focus on exclusive characters and maybe some alternative versions of protagonists if they really want to. Licensed CMF isn't a bad thing, but if they do it in this way, we'll definitely hear bad news from the sales. I hope it's not true, or they'd better change their mind ASAP.

I think this should be a new license theme rumor, unless the rumor is also about another original theme that comes up with Friends.

I'm not against that. However it can be great if TLG can have something the last three movies.

In K'Nex Mario case, they do make some alternate prints (fire flower, etc), but they're pretty lazy and throw lots of Mario"s at the same time, while still many Mario characters haven't appeared in their line. At least TLG know how to change expression and prints. I'm not against including repetitive characters in different forms, like Iron Patriot or a Santa Homer. However, fans could be enraged when the protagonists leave only few seats for other characters who can't make set appearances. One advantage of Cuusoo Disney project is that it can be an independant theme. You don't have to worry about repetition.

We do hope Disney make better films in the future. As mentioned many times, this topic should focus on those big potentials instead of "dull films", if you think the merchandise we get isn't good enough.

I don't know licensed CMF work, though most fans would still buy them. IMO, it works for those who don't fit in big sets or doesn't belong to the main characters, not something like Mario bros in K'Nex's Mario CMF bags. However I don't think it should be titled series 13/14 and mix up with original Lego Minifigures, though TLC can still make them on different sale date. Also fans would ask TLC to make CMF for other existed licenses (like the Cuusoo Disney Minifigure project) more strongly.

I know, so the problem is the possible current licenses. Though we had multiple versions of Marvel heros, literature license could be different.
-
Though there shouldn't be too much problem to pass, I wonder if it'll be doing with Disney license (if they have plans for sequels) or CMF series (suppose that they can use characters from any free literatures).

So the question is, something is different from "Friends", so what is "Friends"? The story, or the minidoll scale, or both? A) New original story for girls in Friends minidoll scale B) New license for girls in Friends minidoll scale C) New license story for girls in System scale D) New license for girls in Duplo scale E) New original story for girls in a new figure scale (??? Only B and C are things we've never seen before. I personally want to see C.

It was mentioned in the Disney thread. I haven't watched it , but they don't really appear me due to similarity with Western things and alittle lack of Disney originality. In some cases, I might be fonder of Disney Channel shows. I'm not a Holmes fan, but it's hard to judge when there's lots of versions to be chosen from, and usually the most current and worldwide adaption film is chosen. Still maybe this series don't have a clear target audience.
-
Well, I didn't mean that. Whatever, I'd like to wait for official news which is more clear. As mentioned at first, Disney Princess / classics is a different thing from other movie licenses, or "big flashy summer movies", which are chosen due to very different reasons. Unless TLC and Disney would reserve such kind of chance for all other future princess/girls related films like Frozen.
-
If you're giving only one sentence, I'm not really sure. In my categories, the chosen ones might be those which is popular enough, or fit in brick toys very much. If the unsung movies do fit in Lego than the popular ones, I would still buy them. The major problem of Lone Ranger to me is, it's not far from a generic Western theme that TLC can give us. That's why I think the not-chosen ones with more Disney charms could have the chance instead. Maybe it's also why there was no Cars 1 sets until Cars 2 appears, because Disney and TLC need a testing time to see its potential. But a sequel doesn't always necessarily mean that it's going to be a Lego set (eg, Moster Inc).
-
Oh yes, I skipeed TMNT. I didn't think about non-System licenses too much. Also they don't keep doing with TLC but currently with other brands (eg, Dora and Thomas for Mega Bloks). But we can see that many TV licenses here are for younger children, while only few for all-ages or teenagers. Though children do watch fewer movies than adults, I wonder if TV licenses for elder audience work. Lone Ranger sets are obviously based on the current movie version, so it doesn't belong to here I guess.

Though I nver watch this show, I'm gald to see such live-action licenses get the supports, and with the BTTF example, it would come true very possibly. The only question is if TLG would produce such a massive building, which is almost a Modular Building set. We seldom get real modular licensed buildings but only playable models, such as Daily Bugle or Tony's Lab. In a very possible outcome, we might see a "thinner" version of this building. The rest (Ectomobile and Ghostbusters) still remain the same like BTTF.
-
As mentioned, not only the worldwide notability cares, but not all of the films fit in Lego sets. This topic is surely for those who are possible pities. I don't know much about Planes, but I wonder if it means that Disney want to continue this series as a children-targeted theme.

Simpsons was a major surprie for many reasons. The most important one I think is it's the third TV show license in system, which isn't as many as movie licenses. Avatar : being the very first TV show license it was totally a dissapointment. The plan should had been in the show's final(third) season if TLG didn't want to make multiple waves and sets. Spongebob : the theme was okay, since most notable scenes are here (except Sandy's home, Pearl and Karen). I wonder if TLG still have plans with it. In Duplo, there's also Jake and the Never Land Pirates sets this year. The story itself is simple, so three sets might be the end. Besides the possibility of other Disney Channel Junior shows, I'm curious about why the Pooh sets didn't include the Super Sleuth elements. Generally, movie sets sell better than TV shows sets which are more popular and have better art designs. However, many classic TV shows have longer story than one-shot movies, which also makes little sense. Does the start of Simpsons hint that more TV show license would appear after 2014?
-
I don't have negatvie opinions. Not all LOtR fans who bought Lego sets have watched Star Wars, so don't say if must fail if you never watch the show. There are still some interesting building designs in the series. Hope that we can see good sets appear.
