I caved. 60073 just became my first purchase since childhood!

I managed to fix this with some sub-degree tinkering, but only after deleting the rest of the set. The ship is here.

Just raided my old instruction booklets and found thirty sets that don't show up when I ctrl+F the numbers on the index page. I'd better get on with it then

Unavailable Colors
Hubertbrickengineer replied to Thomas of Tortuga's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Are you sure you're in extended mode? You're describing the functionality of regular mode - It has a lot more parts than it used to, which may be a source of confusion. -
NEW LDD Brickset out - 1392
Hubertbrickengineer replied to Lyichir's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
It's not perfect, but that's super useful. The scrollbar keeps freezing, it doesn't scroll using the mousewheel, and the images are pretty small - minor usability things, but some of those lists (torsos, for instance) are pretty extensive. -
Fantastic stuff, I'm a huge fan of the portal series and these are just perfect . When lego puts this into production - when, not if, dammit - it will be my first purchase as an AFOL. There's a huge opportunity to appeal to non-lego fans here too, the rate other portal merchandise is flying off the shelves they can't not put this in the works. I didn't know about this until it hit 10,000, but one definite support from me if it needed it. Congrats on a great piece of work

New Narrow Gauge Train in 4204 City Miners Set
Hubertbrickengineer replied to JopieK's topic in LEGO Train Tech
according to the instructions here: http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildinginstructions/6012863.pdf the mine set contains 8 of the rail pieces, continuing beyond the tunnel -
How about a hatchback version: Since I build without the intention of bricking, I haven't checked the colours, the only part that may not exist is the red rear windscreen. I wanted to have a clear rear window but it didn't look right without a plate between it and the rear lights. Based from SearchFunction's first design, with a bit of the others in there. LXF here

I've recently fished out some of the models from my childhood (the last 'batch' never got broken up, just stored as is) and I'm tinkering with digitalising them in LDD... again, they're made with what I had available, with some novel inventions that will have to be updated. Unfortunately Digital Designer is quite restrictive to 'legal' brick connections, I don't think you'll be able to place the bricks in the arch. You may be able to put them next to it at the desired angle using a hinge and some scaffolding (which is then removed from the model), but it will be no more connected than it is now. As a side note, you might want to check your image sizes as Eurobricks has an 800x600 limit

Modular Starfighter [LDD MOC]
Hubertbrickengineer replied to vynsane's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Hadn't considered using templates, mine are so scattered with other things (mostly decorations that aren't in extended mode) I find whenever I add a new template the whole thing rearranges itself, I can never find anything. It would be nice to have 'template catagories', with one for modular spacecraft work, one for decorated pieces, one for a particular MOC in progress, etc. On that note, I'll pop a post over in the LDD wanted features topic -
Old LDD files
Hubertbrickengineer replied to deckersk's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
deckersk won't be able to link to an upload until 5 posts, I'm not sure about attaching directly As for the models, the older version of LDD may have used a different model for the same piece, or a slightly different piece entirely, as several errors have been ironed out during updates. So although you'll be able to find the part in the pallet, it could have a different 'boundary' to the one you used originally, which means it might not fit directly where it used to be if the surrounding parts are not quite placed correctly. Different versions of LDD have allowed different errors/illegal connections. The only real workaround is moving sections of bricks away from the model, replacing the piece, and placing the sections back, but without seeing the models I can't help any further. H
