Happens to me all the time. That's just how the human brain works. To save time it just looks for familiar patterns and uses the most common one. -
You are flooding the Decal Wish Thread with your awesome decals , yet you bereft everyone from commenting on them. Even worse not everyone has had the chance to marvel your work. Please give yourself some credit and post your work here as well. (We are supposed to anyway. Have a look at the first post in the Decal Wish Thread. )

I just created a tutorial which walks you through the process of creating decals using Inkscape. The tutorial is long (about 4000 words) and contains a lot of pictures. So I'm not gonna copy it in this post. (Unless LuxorV demands so under threat of physical harm ). A lot of smartphone browsers here I heard. I don't fear 4000 words. Show me the tutorial. I hope it is comprehensive enough to follow. I'd really like feedback on this from beginners. Is it easy to follow? Is it clear? Also I'd like feedback from other decal creators. Did I leave out something important? Is there something you feel a beginner must know, that is not covered? Are there easier ways to do this? I wrote this at 02:00AM. So it does contain grammatical and spelling mistakes. I'd appreciate corrections. I'd also like to thank Stiel who allowed me to use one of his photos as reference in this tutorial. Also NickAband santaduckzare responsible for making me do this. NickAb always seems a step ahead of me. I had to one up him somehow. And santaduckz just started his Inkscape adventures. I just expanded the PMs I wrote him and the tutorial just came together. Thank you for your time. [Edit]: Forgot to acknowledge some people. Sorry for that. It wasn't on purpose.

NickAB have I ever told you that I like your thinking? You're a machine. I just added a wiki entry in regarding promotion, which also covered a possible twitter account. I've also edited the first post. Thoughts? -

No need to feel guilty. If I didn't want to do it I'd have not done it. -
My microfig collection is (temporarily) complete!

That is a very nice box of crayons. Seriously you though. You are one dedicated fellow. Do you have any favorites? Or stories from the hunt, you want to share? Would be cool to see a corresponding setup of matching minifigs. -

Guys we're in the official index. Awesome! And I think we're nearing the end of the initial preparation phase. Nick and I have been working on the website. (Hopefully there will be an update soon). Vynsane almost single-handedly added templates for just about anything. Also we've been adding a bunch of stuff to the wiki. And we got a truck-load of decals done. You guys are awesome! Please keep adding decals. And take a look around the wiki. Also if you create decals using svg and you're not a collaborator to the repository yet. Consider joining. Don't worry about someone biting you, the others already keep me restrained. I hear you. Nesting will be difficult with our current approach. So we either make the Javascript understand the special CSS-Classes or the php-build has to become more memory intensive . I'm thinking of switching the build from php to ruby. To test the site locally you have to have ruby installed anyway. If we do that then after we have a working php build. -

Man. Just finished Catwoman. More like gave up, really. I've been working on her for days. I know it doesn't look like it Seriously I tried my best to imitate the look of that catsuit, with all those bumps. Worked myself through dozens of patterns, but they all made her look non-Lego like. Truth is at the end of the day she's just a pretty face in a black catsuit. There is nothing to make her movie appearance stand out (Except you know Anne Hatheway, but that's difficult to capture ). Might as well use Black Widow or the old Catwoman Minifig. Seriously look at them. They're perfect for Mikaela in biker garb (TF2), G.I. Joe Scarlett (Movie-Verse), G.I. Joe Baroness, Selene from Underworld and just about any other leading female role in an action movie from the recent years. I'm not saying anything about the actresses, just about their movie appearance. [Reason for edit] Stinking homophones -
I tried my best. Catwoman

We're happy you like them. We're still trying to get things set up, markting, team-building and what not will come. I hope to see you again after your exams. Contributors (not only decal creators) are always welcome. I also jut posted our second tutorial on creating decals to the wiki. Great! From the looks they are drop in replacements . I was also looking at bootstrap and fontawesome. Good call on masonry, never used it before. I'll try out the designs and let you know how it worked out. -
Thanks, that comment just made my day and got me an extra fine reward from my wife. Erm, how do I put this? The basic stuff first, I guess. Information you provide is information creators do not have to hunt down. Some of them just want to draw and don't bother with research at all. So by providing information and references - or in short being clear on your request - will encourage more people to try. This in turn improves your chances of getting a decal at all and might considerably speed things up. In your case I have no clue where to start. Do you want a kamikazee pilot? A guy in a trench-coat? Someone with a vest of TNT? Or some hip-hopper with a stick of dynamite sticking out from his waistband? A German WW2 soldier? Male or female? Do you want him before or after the bombing? Stupid me tried to google a picture (Do NOT do an image search for the term) and what I found made me ill. So please be specific, especially on such a touchy subject. Also you don't have to apologize for the amount of requests. No one is forced to fulfill them

Repository of svg decals

I updated the site this morning. They were intended to be rendered at 600dpi and not 90. I was using rsvg, since it is faster than inkscape, but it ignores dpi settings it does not render clips and maskings I tweaked the php build script a bit and will commit it in a few days. I chose php because it seems that it is (as usual) the common denominator. The Jekyll rendering engine is very limited and has some behavioral quirks, which gave me a few headaches. I'll post a few articles to the wiki sometime next week. Still waiting for any design suggestions. I hope I can outline some and present them here the week after next. -
Would've posted this sooner, but Bizzaro's face took forever. Bizarro ComicCon Shazam ComicCon

Coincidentally I was already working on those. Already finished Phoenix. Phoenix ComicCon This has been added to the Minifig SVG Repository a few days ago. ;)

Not so sure about the mask. I think it won't look good on a minifig. Blackbat I couldn't make out if their was a neckline or not, so I hope I guessed correctly. Robin.tlg.Batman2Videogame.Damian_Wayne

Excuse the double post. Just to let you know that I broke the Github-Page of the repository. GitHub Jekyll and local Jekyll are not the same it seems I'll try to get it back up and running in the next few days. I hope. The build scripts used are checked in as well. More of a hack job with poor description. Will fix that later. [update] WooHoo! Hooray for train rides. Fixed the major problem on my way to work. Still a few minor glitches, but we're ready to go. Minifig SVG Repository Homepage So next would be: Collecting layout ideas. If anyone wants to implement those ideas, please volunteer. A basic knowledge of jekyll and liquid would be nice, but not necessary. -
