  1. Exactly the same for me at the one in Harringay yesterday.
  2. If anyone is interested there is a boxed 8248 (http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=8428-1) on sale for £14.99 in the Barnardo's shop in North Finchley. The box is pretty badly damaged but intact. I didn't look to see if the contents were complete.
  3. Do you know how long this offer runs for and within which types of store it applies?
  4. Does anyone know when the Grand Emporium is likely to be pulled from sale in the UK?
  5. Hi there

I was hoping to get in touch regarding a minifig trade but as you're so new you can't use the PM system. Could you email me at desouzaj@constructingexcellence.org.uk?

  6. Updated list: I have to trade: Series 6 Flamenco Dancer Minotaur Series 7 Tennis Player x 2 Tarzan Rock Girl Series 8 Cowgirl DJ Manbat I need (all from Series 9): Waiter Hollywood Starlet Heroic Knight Chicken Suit Guy Fortune Teller Mermaid Battle Mech
  7. Went to WH Smith and Toy City today. Nothing in Smiths and Toy City are expecting their delivery on 10 January.
  8. I live in Wood Green so will check in WH Smith and Toy City over the next couple of days.
  9. Did anyone see how much sale stock they had left in Westfield?
  10. Don't look at me! I only got one!
  11. I don't know if anybody can help with this but I recently read about the 20% off vouchers for VIP card holders within stores to be used in September. Unfortunately, when I called the shops which family members can get to (Milton Keynes and Brighton - I'm not that close to a shop myself in north London) both had run out of the vouchers. I was hoping to get the Grand Emporium this month so 20% off would be really useful! I don't suppose anyone has a spare voucher that they don't need do they? If so I'd really appreciate it. Thanks! Jon
  12. I don't know if he'll read this but 'hello' to the fellow AFOL I met yesterday at the Series 2 minifig section at WHSmith in Wood Green!
  13. I know it's not a sale per se but some of you may be interested to know that there is a full unopened box of Series 1 minifigs in the Stratford branch of WHSmiths. I went in today to see if they had Series 2 (they don't). That's Stratford, east London rather than upon-Avon by the way!
  14. What was the situation at Leicester when you went? Were there many sets available for the amounts posted?
  15. I was on holiday in the Isle of Wight last week and the Toymaster shop in Sandown has this: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=7709-1 on sale for £35. For info, that shop has the best selection of Lego that I've seen in an independent retailer for a very long time!
  16. Welcome to London! Toy City in Wood Green has a reasonable stock sometimes but they've been telling me they simply can't get stock from Lego very often. If you talk to independent stockists they'll give you the same message - Lego has been ignoring them and favouring chains like TRU and Argos.
  17. My local WH Smith had 20% off Lego. Except all the prices were inflated from normal S@H prices so even with the discounts most were more expensive.
  18. In terms of independent stores, Toys Toys Toys in Barnet has a reasonable selection. When I was last in they had the new airport, the farm sets and a number of the construction sets from City. No Castle, a few Pirates and a few other bits and pieces. They always seem to be about 5% above RRP though. Does anyone else know good independent stockists in London?
  19. Sounds interesting. I'm in!
  20. And it's what those pieces are as well - I imagine that there's a bunch of the same pieces in there which, along with the price, mean that I won't be buying.
  21. Plus a £5 voucher for every £50 spent. I got the King's Castle Siege, recycle truck, cement mixer, service station and police hq for £99.
  22. For anybody in north London I can recommend Fagin's Toys in Muswell Hill. They have a huge selection at the moment. Toy City in Wood Green Shopping City has a few sets but not a massive number. Other than that the only other places that I know of that stock Lego near me are Toys R Us and Pearsons in Enfield.
  23. What I don't understand is what sort of crime this seaplane is exactly designed to fight that the multitude of other crimefighters in Lego City can't handle.
  24. Like many others I'm sick of the round of hospital, firefighters and police sets. Especially the police. Lego City is like an Orwellian nightmare. Instead, I'd like to see a school and maybe a university campus. I like the idea of offices and would like it of these could be modelled on some of the interesting architecture that is happening around the world now - such as the Swiss Re building or Shard of Glass in London or some of the buildings that are going up in Dubai and the Far East. I like the idea of more housing as well. I think there could be a real opportunity for Lego if they produced a range of eco-houses using wood effect for the outside, roof gardens and maybe solar panels. Along those lines, what about a small pack of large wind turbines as well?
  25. Excellent, thanks. I'll have to try again next week.
