Ryushi replied to Holodoc's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
Am I allowed to have a base border that is beyond the 8x8 dimension, or is that considered part of the dimension constraint? -

rings are held on in two place (per a ring). The connection is a small single plate thick shelf holding the ring per a connection, which is then connected to the pentagram via more plates

Astra Luminaria by Alysa Kirkpatrick, on Flickr Astra Luminaria is the biggest spaceship ever created by man. Built around Sirius B, the star, Astra Luminaria is the next technological advancement for humans to colonize other stars, and utilizing the star's energy to create long term survival in the ever increasing demand for more energy and space. Two rings orbit Astra Luminaria, built for the ever growing demand of space travel and life beyond the colonized ship. The rings allow for people look at the galaxies yet to be explored. Tech Specs: - diameter with other rings: 123 studs - diameter to outer shell: 101 studs - height: 131 studs - weight: 17 lb 11 oz - parts: 20,012 --------- I had a ton of fun building Astra Luminaria, my first SHIP. It is a hollow core SHIP with no technic. Both were something I really wanted to try out. The design is based on 4 nested spheres, which I then modified for better aesthetics. There is a light bulb in the center of it, giving it a really cool effect in the dark, (and makes photos looks a lot better). Let me know what you think Alysa

Ryushi replied to CopMike's topic in Special LEGO Themes
All I want for Christmas is for all my lego to be sorted thanks for an awesome raffle theme this year -
I am local to Brickworld/Chicago as well. Not as long of a veteran as Dale. Is there anyone from Europe planning to attend this year? I could use someone to swap LEGO with so I can get the 4th Star wars planet series
-
Thank you very much CopMike for the explanation and the extra prizes to make the winning percentage fair. Merry Christmas, and have a happy holidays.

Thank you, this is my first contest I've entered for MOCs, I hope to do well.

I hope many people are. I think most people are, but the students at IIT have a love-hate relationship with Mies and his buildings. Did you see the google doodle that was done on his birthday?
-
Is it ok to change the photo of the real building after the end time? I have a better photo I found to portray the building then the one I had up, but I found it after the end time of the contest.
-
Thank you for the advice and compliment. Are you a fan of Mies?
