You're lucky! I have NO pirate sets yet. I found plenty of figs cheap on bricklink and will probably buy them as well as a few sets I found as well. I just need to see how much gold I have in me treasure chest! ;-)

I'm mostly talking about official Lego pirate sets with a similar feel to this MOC. I have seen a few forts on this forum, try searching it :-) P.S. I have a pirate avatar now! Look closely *sweet*

thats prety much what ive been stressing for some time now, Any toy company can buy the liscnece to a tv show or movie but it takes real imagination to come up with their own ideas and themes. And about the hero figs, Its not that i dont like the hero figs, Its just that i realy realy love armies to enforcs my Rule of darkness on my city minifigs. Ive got a sizeable fleet of auazone ships for my navy but now i need a new space force and lego just isnt giving me enough clones. I agree with having huge armies. I play briwars (join the ranks, www.brikwars.com) like a fanatic and bought 100 blacktron soldiers for brikwars! I use them for space MOCs as well but that is their primary purpose. Just wondering how much that set you back? e-bay is great for bulk lots of figs if you're careful, I got 15 for $3US :-P It was a mix of Blacktron I and II though, which did you buy? $35 for 100 blacktron 1 figs *sweet* They were the lego promotion figs so you couldn't remove their heads or legs but they worked just like normal figs.

I like it! It looks like a few other forts I've seen in my travels on the internet! It needs more details though. The flag needs to be moved out a bit and possibly a wall added on top with a cannon to defend the fort. The guards are just fine, I don't really care about the faces and sometimes prefer the old ones :-) You could also use a dock or some detail nearby the fort for scenery (a desert island with palm trees perhaps?)

Yeah, It is about time that slow little me caught on ;-) (faster than Lego though :-/ ) I am probably going to start searching bricklink and ebay for some pirate stuff but is there any information anywhere about building your own ships? How would you build a good hull, do you have to use the molded hulls that come in the sets? There has to be a pirate fan site with information like that somewhere...

Yeah, I am. I have been seeing so many pirate lately in movies and in books and all kinds of places that I realized how neat they really are... I know about bricklink and ebay but I'm looking for information about what sets are good, and just plain information about the pirate life! :-) I think it's time Captain Yub Yub began assembling a small fleet!

Yeah, all the new SW figs are flesh toned. But most other themes aren't. I want them to pick one, not both... ANOTHER question, where would one go to read about becomin' a pirate, buyin' a ship and hirin' some crew? In short, where does someone go if they want to get into pirate Lego :-)

I agree with you on that. While I could take a POTC theme, an original one would be better (for the numerous reasons pointed out in this thread.) Yellow figs must die *skull* that's about it... ...But I have some questions - So most of you guys are against a POTC theme, what kind of sets would this new theme have? Would it bring back any old ones from older pirate themes? Where would someone look to get some good Lego pirate ships?

Off topic - That stargate RULES! You should do some jaffa or a goa 'uld ship. Back on topic - You can actually print decals on regular paper and glue them on but they look really bad. Sticker paper is the way to go...

If you guys could have a new pirate theme based on the Pirates of the Carribbean movies, would you? I think mega-bloks has the license but I'm curious anyway. What makes a good pirate theme for you pirate fans?

I assume you're reffering to my theme idea. My theme will not all be hero minifigs but will include them in a few sets to give the theme some personality. I agree with Jeffery, ice planet was a pretty good space theme. The question I have is, where did it go? Where is lego's imagination? Star wars, batman, sponge bob (lol) none of these sets have imagination put into them. They lack the lego touch that classic castle had, that blacktron had, that adventurers had... Just had to get that out of my system :-/

yeah... and we would add a minifig pack to build armies... so we basically want a space super version of Star wars... ;-) but suppose they would decide to bring back a space theme, it would probably work like vikings, dino,...: 4-5 sets, of which two fairly large sets, a medium set and two small sets. so you're going to have to be a bit more precise then what you've written here. let's make it easier, shall we? suppose we get a wave 1 in 2007 and a wave 2 in 2008... what would your theme look like in sets? Hey, he asked what I wanted Lego's next space theme to be! :-D Although what I want and what Lego will do are two very different things X-D It depends on Lego DOING a space theme. The way they're going, it doesn't look like they will. Anyway, the theme would revolve around these two warring factions that would be different colors and all that stuff but would allow for some nice large sets... Small ground vehicle (1 for bad guys and one for good) with a soldier or two Medium spacecraft (good) Large spacecraft (bad) Medium walker (good) with a small enemy turret thing Heroes ship (good) a good freighter ship for out heroes Base battle (bad) one big base, an evil vehicle and some good guys attacking it Wave 2 would be similar Small space vehicle (1 for bad guys and one for good) with a soldier or two base playset (Medium structure with some soldiers and a small walker) Large tank (bad) medium spacecraft (bad) medium transport shuttle (good) ground battle (big set) a few ground vehicles for each side with some structure in the middle The minifigs would have different colors for the two armies and would NOT be generic smiley faces. Individual characters (heroes and villans) would be more unique (obviously.) The heroes would each have a specialty (like dino attack or alpha team) and be part of a team. and minifig packs will be fine ;-)
