ULTIMATE LEGO TECHNIC 9391!
rumpletump replied to 88high's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hahahaha Cool.. -
I loved the contest. On the whole it was very well organised and heaps of fun. Probably the only thing I would change were the time frames. I think it should have been a bit less flexible. Some people worked really hard to got their designs ready in good time and others got time extensions and everyone else had to wait and hope it wouldn't be the entry to knock them out of the contest.. There are some good ideas for other contests. I like the c model concept, but it might be hard to choose a set that enough people have. Don't want to exclude people if we can. Maybe we can choose from a list of a few sets to make the c model from.. Also I like the idea of size constraints, anything to level out the playing field. Not everybody has truckloads of parts and heaps of spare time. I think this would result in some really good innovative entries. Anyways.. Bring on more comps I say

This is a very nice bit of work. Looks good and works really well. I like the video too. But best of all it's pet friendly -

TSATS: SEA PLANE
rumpletump replied to rumpletump's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yes it would be cool to design the plane that way.. Because I used the unimog for parts I felt it would be a waste to not to use the pneumatics they are some of the coolest parts in the set.. It's pretty fun to play with how it is, but perhaps after the comp I might make a few mods and see what I can do -
Here is my entry for the To Sail The Technic Seas Challenge. It is a Sea Plane I have made it entirely using parts from only one Unimog 8110 set. The one exception is the propeller part which is from set 8855. It uses approx 1500 parts. I have been building My own Technic designs for about a year and this is my 6th ever.. The design.. It is not specific to any particular model of sea plane. I simply set out to capture all the key features and characteristics that a sea plane should have and then try to find creative ways to solve the design challenges when using only one set for parts, Even if it is the largest set of parts to choose from. .. Features.. Motorized propeller. Motorized Pistons. Motorized compressor and pneumatics. The same Motor drives the pistons and prop and compressor. There are 3 pneumatic switches in the cockpit. The left one controls the left aileron up and down. The right one controls the right aileron up and down. the one in the front center controls the rudder left and right. There is a fourth pneumatic switch at the rear bottom of the plane. it is used as a regulating valve and is not connected to anything on the output. This enables you to demonstrate the engine and prop without creating any pressure in the air system. you can use it as a pressure relief. Or you may use it for fine tuning of pneumatic functions for a slower more controlled response by allowing only a tiny amount of air to escape constantly.. The Pontoons have small gears mounted in them to act as wheels so you can push it along nicely. The pics are not as big as I would like to show so I will probably upload them to a folder on mocpages and then I'll post the link as I have much bigger pics and more angles to show. I do not know if I will have time to make a video but I will try. Please feel free to comment I hope people like my design. Henry Here is the link to some better pics. You can click the images to open them full size. mymocpages Finally here is a short video

Lego CAD for rhinoceros 3d
rumpletump replied to rumpletump's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Yes. I tried a few parts and it seems to work fine.. Thanks for your help you have saved me lots of time. Now I can create my Rhino Library of parts. Henry -
Does anybody know if the part files from any of the lego design programs can be made to be compatible with rhinoceros 3D or if there is a library of parts out there that will import into Rhino? i.e. dxf files I recently tried MLcad and I found the navigation around the model clumsy since I am so familiar with using rhinoceros 3d. Otherwise i will just need to spend more time and practice. Thanks Henry

Here is my latest (my 5th ever) MOC it is a tracked dump truck. It can be made with parts from set 8043 & set 8265 only. The track layout is much the same as the 8043 but with some mods. The track assembly now houses 2 of the motors and the battery box. It is fully RC controlled and has full track function like the 8043 does. It also has turning function on turntable and lifting function for dump tray. The lifting is done by one LA. The RC receiver and 2 more motors are hidden inside the engine compartment. It can turn a full 360 degrees with no problems however I normally only use it up to 180 degrees in either direction as some power cord runs up through the turntable there is a risk of twisting the cords too much if not used carefully. I Hope you guys like it. Feedback is most welcome :)

My first MOC helicopter
rumpletump replied to rumpletump's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It has two motors one for top rotor one for rear. you can power up either one independently to each the other or both together using the RC.. I ran out of time and space to do a lot else with this design. The bottom section removes from the main body by taking out a couple of pins so its very quick and easy to swap over batteries. Thanks for your feedback :) -
Hi my name is Henry I am new to this forum. I started getting back into Technic last year after a few years. This MOC I made for the Technic helicopter challenge but in retrospect it was not really as futuristic as the design brief required. However it was about my second attempt at designing anything using stud less construction (Lego Technic had changed a lot in my absence) so I thought I would show you guys what I made. I have been doing a couple more MOC since and soon I will have something new to show, Hopefully I will have improved :)
