  1. Wow they are very interesting, great ideas for the trailer here, I started into lego Technic a week or so ago and now my brain is buzzing with all this, I am starting to see things during the day and coming up with stuff i just cant wait to try on real lego lol, does everyone go through that stage? I love IT!
  2. That is an amazing design, your work with Technic lego is really good, some of the best i have seen.
  3. Efferman, the rear wheel trailer steering would be cool in a lego model, would be good to see, I also took a look at your rear wheel set up for trucks that you posted in my other thread and that looks awesome.
  4. I just found this video which is interesting, That trailer is amazing, would have loved to have seen the full video of the loading of it also one of the things i have noticed with most of these self loading arms is the placement of the Hydraulics is on the first boom, they actually are much higher up than where Lego has placed them, the arm on the 9397 is not long enough to be practical, i tried extending it by a couple of studs but it didnt come close enough to the truck then, i wonder if an arm like on this video would be better. I also found this video which has an awesome trailer that i may attempt one day
  5. It would be if the grips would stay closed but they flick open, maybe need a cargo strap around it lol.
  6. Approx 165mm wide and yes that is the widest part of the truck. Just measured the rear wheels width in standard and they are 130mm wide each wheel is 20mm width so if i was just adding the wheels it would be 170 wide only 5mm wider than the stabilisers, but as the inner wheel gets turned it moves it in 10mm so with the mod done it ends up been only approx 160 mm wide with the wheels doubled up.
  7. I did some test modding on the rear wheels today and did a video of it so you can get a better idea of what i am attempting, I would appreciate any input or suggestions off you long term technic builders please
  8. Doh! *slaps palm of hand to forehead....then creates lego technic gun to point at own temple and shoot what little brains he has all over the floor!* There is a very simple solution to this that came to me whilst sleeping last night, nothing on the existing differential and wheel fasteners needs changing apart from the center axel changed from a 7 to an 8 and then the wheel nearest the chassis needs turning round 180° so the hollow of the hub goes over the axel holders then the outer wheel goes on as normal, doing this will step the wheels out by only one stud. then add another mudguard piece to the existing one and voila! Double wheels that wont fall off. I will do the mod later just to check it and take some pictures then I will order the parts I need if it works.
  9. I could...... but looking at it there should be enough room in the chassis to come up with an under bed solution I think, I will give it a go but if all else fails I'll fall back on your suggestion Fitzi :-) BB ?? Sorry not up with all these technical terms yet, only just found out the other day that I was an AFOL. Lol :-)
  10. Hee Hee i go to do something else for a while and come back in the room and my wife decided she was gonna add a sleeper cab to the truck, I told her they wouldnt have a sleeper unit on a logging truck but she says she likes it lol.
  11. Ha Ha That is funny Gilby i was just considering raising the log bed a stud myself.... not sure what to do now.
  12. there is something else bugging me about this model aswell........ The cog that drives the turntable gets in the way of the logs been loaded on the back, I need to see if i can mod it to move the cogs to the side of the platform instead of behind it.
  13. I just had a 20 mins to spare and was appreciating my Logging Truck when i decided to see what it would look like with double rear wheels, bear in mind this was just a looks test and not a structural mod, it would probably need the wheels stepping out 1 to get enough strength to make them solid especially on the front set with the differential. But I really like the double rear wheels, think i am going to have to order 4 more for this baby! the original design is below
  14. Wow that is so simple yet very sensible, gotta build myself one of those, and thanks every one for all the suggestions, I will try them out.
  15. Okay i just took apart my Flatbed truck so i had some technic lego to create with and 20 minutes after i started i have a sore finger and thumb from pulling all the connectors out, is this usual and has it got a medical term like "Technic Hand" or something similar?
  16. Okay I have some pictures of the building of this model and thought i would share them with you as i had so much fun building it. I also have pictures of the build of the Flatbed and unimog i have done aswell but am not sure where to post them to as i dont want to spam the forums.
  17. I am really impressed with that build, the little touches like the chains and the ladder at the rear make for a more complete model, that is awesome. The little things do matter on a model dont they.
  18. Yes i do but cant post them yet till i am up to 5 posts, i took photos of all my builds so far and videos of the 9397 logging truck, you can see the videos in the technics section, one of the members kindly posted them for me.
  19. Hello, I am new to Technic lego, well not really as back in the 70s i had a motorised set and an "expert Builder Set" #961, i loved those shafts cogs and holey bricks! Well a week ago I saw the Flatbed Rescue truck cheap and decided to try it, loved it so much I now have built 2 models and am on my 3rd as i speak, I got hold of the 9397 Logging truck and the Unimog, finished the logging truck and am now tackling the Unimog.
  20. Hi People, I am the guy whose video of the finished truck is featured earlier in this thread, as to the B model instructions i got onto Lego about this and their reply was that as this model has a release date of March 2012, the shop i bought it from has been naughty selling it early lol, They say the instructions will be available for download nearer to March. I also pointed out that it would look more authentic with doubled sets of rear wheels instead of the singles and they said they will pass on the info to the builders. I also made a video of the gear box on this truck as it impressed me. (i tried to post a link to the video but cant till i have made 5 posts :-))
