  1. I imagine that the tour will take in all the shopping centres where TLC have a store, other large shopping centres, Lego Windsor and major account holders such as Hamleys in London. But that's pure conjecture on my part. *wacko* If I had to hazard a guess, I would say that it will include the Trafford Centre.
  2. Thanks for the clarification. *y* Are there any other rules that are particular to these boards that I should know about? If so, please point me to them. Thanks. ;-) Sorry for the threadjack. :-$
  3. I can imagine a King's Court set with a king, queen, knight, jester, ghost and pleading peasants. Give it a secret treasure room and an armoury, and kids would love it (as would I and I'm an AFOL). *wub*
  4. The "o" in Yobrick is like the one in "pop", not the one in "pope". Same for Yorick (see the first post in this thread). ;-)
  5. Yes, it's part of the Jester Liberation Front led by their notorious boss Chester "The Jester" Yobrick. :-D
  6. There's going to be a commemorative tour of the UK by TLC starting after Easter. A special pack will be available on the tour. Does anyone know any other details about the tour or the pack? If so, please spill the beans!
  7. Later this year, TLC is releasing a Castle-themed advent calendar. See Edit by Hinckley: this thread at the CC forum this thread on Eurobricks end edit for details. The set includes a really cool jester minifig. I don't know if the jester has an official name but if he doesn't, I think he should be called Yobrick after Yorick of Shakespearean fame. The character was a Danish jester after all - just like the minifig. :) What do you think the LEGO jester should be called?
  8. I don't know what "frown" is but if it's a shade of brown, then you're right: no part of the table is any shade of brown. The owl's stand is though - I think that shade is called "reddish brown" on BrickLink. Please see pic:
  9. On most message boards, one doesn't duplicate the topic of an active or recent thread. There's a good reason for that: the boards would soon become a mess if that practice became widespread. I assumed that keeping posts on the same topic together was also the rule here and therefore expected any posts like your opening one to be a contribution to my existing thread on this topic. It appears though that I was mistaken; on these boards, one is free to start a new thread on an existing topic. In future, I may well do that. Thank you for drawing my attention to that. Back on topic: I thought your review was pretty good as were the pics. *y*
  10. I agree. In fact, it's a point I've already made on this board. Again, a point I agree with and already made on this board. I'm not blaming you guys. ;-) The OP in this thread should, at the very least, have linked to the existing thread about this set on this board. |-/
  11. I'm not so sure that TLC couldn't afford it. Art Asylum/Minimates bought the rights to produce small, blockish action figures for the LotR film. AFAIK, Art Asylum is a much smaller company than TLC, so if they could afford it, I imagine that our favourite Danish company could acquire The Hobbit licence. I really like this year's Castle line too but given a choice between it and a Hobbit line, I'd go with the latter. For one thing, it would be cool to have an official Gandalf minifig and some elves. My only regret would be that, as licensed product, they would be fleshy (yuck! >:-( ).
  12. Are there defintions of "My Own Creation", "custom" and "kitbash"? Are "custom" and "kitbash" subsets of "MOCs"? What about "purist" - how "pure" does it have to be "purist"? If there are no formal definitions, how do you define them?
  13. Here's my Brickshelf Gallery including pics of my Cthulhu, pegasus, giant bat, bull-riding barbarian, red wizard, Radagast, elf, dwarves, Greek hero, monk, Sir Wolverine, giant bat, Samwise and ringwraith among other MOCs inspired by LotR, D&D, myth, legend, folklore and pop culture. I know Cthulhu is supposed to be the size of a mountain. I made him relatively small & cute on purpose. :-P Enjoy!
  14. Nihon ni sunde imashita. Gakusei deshita. To sarariiman. Dakara chotto nihongo wakarimasu. Chotto chigau yo! :-P
  15. Hello, brickzone ;-) I would say "nice to meet you" but that would be technically incorrect as we've already met at CC! So let me say I'm glad to bump into you here. *sweet*
  16. Many thanks for the warm welcome and the kind words about my minifigs. *wub* Ik woon in de Nederlandse kolonie genaamd Engeland! X-D Ik heb woonde, studeerde en werkte in een groot aantal landen en ik denk van mezelf als een burger van de wereld. Dankzij :-$
  17. Thanks but it's not the creation of the image that's a problem. I already have a pic. It's the uploading that's not working. Is the server that holds the pics for this forum OK?
  18. [C-3PO voice]I am fluent in over six million forms of communication.[/C-3PO voice] :-D
  19. ApophisV, Vielen Dank f
  20. Extremely imaginative use of pieces. Nice job! *y* As has been mentioned above, the use of the white beard to represent milk being poured was particularly inspired. I also thought the mouse hole and trap were cute. :-)
  21. I recently received 5614 The Good Wizard from S@H. Here's my take on it... The set consists of one sand blue wizard minifig with a matching hat, white beard, reddish brown wand, crystal ball (with transparent yellow gem inside) and white owl. On the plus side is the colour of the wizard. While technically a shade of blue, he is grey enough to pass as Gandalf for Lord of the Rings/Hobbit fans. Sand blue is also a new colour for the wizard's hat which offers opportunities for minifig customisers. The printing on the hat is a constellation of stars and a buckle, while his legs and waist have a pouch, potion bottle, coin (?) and belt fittings. Overall, the printing looks pretty good, especially on the legs. The addition of the white owl should also make this set popular with HP fans. On the downside, the torso is plain, i.e. unprinted. This is a shame as the printed beard isn't bad so if you chose not to use the beard piece, you'd be left with a decorated hat and legs but an unadorned torso. The minifig would also have benefited greatly from a cloth cape with stars matching his hat's. I would also like to have seen a stellar wand rather than a rod but that's possibly an idiosyncratic preference. Overall, I like this set. While it could have been better, the improvements needed aren't insurmountable (a shopping trip to BrickLink will get you a plain cloak and stellar wand). And at only
  22. I'm having trouble uploading an avatar from my PC. As you can see, it isn't showing. :-( I've already checked that it's not too big - that's not the problem. Why doesn't my avatar appear?
  23. Hello, everybody ;-) I'm AmperZand. I was a complete LEGO nut as a kid. Then I lost interest in my teens. But I started again a few years ago. Yeah! :-P I'm particularly into fantasy minifigs inspired by LotR, D&D, myth and legend. I do have minifigs from other themes but not many. My total display collection is about 100 minifigs strong. Here's a link to my BrickShelf gallery showing some of MOCs including a giant bat, an undersized Cthulhu and a knight modelled on Wolverine. Enjoy! AmperZand PS. I also post on the Classic Castle Forum.
