  1. I only MOC minifigs so the situation is a bit different for me. That said, I usually plan far ahead, often before the minifigs I intend to MOC are out. For example, I ordered a whole bunch of swords, spears, helmets and plumes from BrickForge long before the release of the elf from Collectible Series 3. I do the same sort of thing on BrickLink. However, I do get tempted on both BF and BL and order parts I don't need for a specific MOC but might come in handy. Amps
  2. I spotted this in today's Metro newspaper. Metro is a free and widely read weekday morning newspaper in London. Apologies if this has already been posted about or if this is the wrong place for it. I know the MOC covered in the story has already been featured here at EB. Amps

  5. Hello, Gregorovich, I bought a sealed box from a WH Smith's in central London today. Woohoo! I wanted to get a box from the LEGO store at the Westfield yesterday but when I called to reserve it, they said that there was a limit of 16 minifigs per customer so they wouldn't accept my reservation. I explained that other retailers such as Tesco were selling the minifigs by the box. They responded they already knew that because they were "monitoring" Eurobricks and Brickset, but rules are rules and they wouldn't help me. That's the second time I've received good customer service from WH Smith's after another retailer wouldn't take my money. The last time it was series 3 and the unhelpful retailer was Argos. Hooray for WH Smith's! Amps
  6. Hello, Nova, I should be there with loads of S4s to trade. And, as usual, I'll bring my bag of bricks to trade. I'll also bring some white 1x bricks and a special part from the US for SilentMode. Amps
  7. Nova, Very sorry but I couldn't have made it tomorrow even if it had been on. I wanted to but I've got a million zillion things to do. All, Looking forwards to seeing you at Westfield next time. I hope to have loads of S4 minifigs to trade. SilentMode, Next time at Westfield, I'll have the white 1x bricks you wanted as well as a special part from the US. Amps
  8. Sorry for the slightly OT post, but I'd like to point out that these guys do a LEGO quality wagasa: Minifigcat wagasa (don't forget the pole that's sold separately.) I've already got some wagasa in anticipation of the S4 geisha. Hope that helps, Amps
  9. Burgon, They opened the doors (but didn't start selling) when I arrived before c.11.45am. Retrotecchie was already in the queue. They started selling at 12.00. By about 12.30, one of the employees outside the shop estimated they had served 125 people. I don't know whether that was 125 sales or just people entering the shop; I suspect the former. It seems that the vast majority (perhaps 95%) of people buying when we were in there were spending £20 or more each, so would have got the bus. Retrotecchie and I each got one. My guess is they probably ran out of buses at around 1.30pm, perhaps sooner. Nova, Pinky, SilentMode, retrotecchie, You can see a few of my 230 or so minifigures here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=182210 Miss Kyle, SlyOwl, Nice to meet you. Sorry I couldn't stay longer but I had to shoot off. We'll try to arrange next month's Swap/Meet the first weekend that Minifigures Series 4 is out. I intend to purchase a sealed box if I can. We'll then split the minifigures between us. Amps
  10. Thanks for the 'heads up', Pinky. Change of plan for me, then. I'll be there at 12.00 and can stay for an hour but won't be able to bring my big bag of bricks to trade, only a few bits and bobs. Sorry, folks. Amps
  11. Unfortunately, I need to leave a 12.00. I don't think I have the parts you're after but I'll double check. If I do have them, I'll leave them with SilentMode, Nova, Pinky or one of the other swappers. Amps
  12. Hello, Miss Kyle, Thanks to the other South East UK Swappers and my own forays, I'm not looking for any more S3s. However, if there are any in particular you are after, the WH Smiths near where I work has loads. I can see (or should that be feel?) if they have what you want. Please let me know. For S4, I'm planning to get a sealed box as soon as they come out and, at the first SE UK Swap/Meet after that, splitting them with the Swappers. If you can make it next Sunday, please let me know then which you want from S4. Amps
  13. I might have a few 1x6s and 1x8s. I'll have to check. Is dark tan OK, or only white and tan? Amps
  14. If you're at all hesitant about BrickForge's design, production or service, don't be. Their parts are LEGO quality and, frankly, are often truer to LEGO design principles than TLG's. As for their customer service, it's second to none. Amps
  15. Hello, Nova & Pinky, Thanks for the clarification. I'll try to make it to BW this Sunday with, among other things, some City minifigures and one of the Police sets. Amps
  16. Is this going ahead as planned, i.e. this Sunday, 6 Feb at 1pm outside the LEGO store at Bluewater? I'm wondering because timing-wise, it's only a few weeks before the Westfield meet on Sunday, 27 Feb. Amps
  17. For a minifig that was entirely fleshy, the pack would contain the whole minifig but in yellow. Simples!
  18. I remember the days before minifigs and am something of a traditionalist. So for me, it's yellow all the way. I wish TLG made conversion packs, so you could purchase yellow parts of the fleshy elements for each licensed set. They could sell the packs in LEGO stores and at S@H. Amps
  19. I'm guessing in the same way as the claws on the Lobster Guardian from Atlantis (linkety link to BrickLink catalogue). Amps
  20. Hello, Nova, Great idea! The only problem is I'm not sure which day you mean. The thread's title says "Sunday 26 February", but 26 Feb is a Saturday. The Sunday is the 27th. I can do either day but Sunday is better. Please let me know which day you mean because you're making my brain hurt. Oh, when I said in the other thread that you're "a true gent", I meant Pinky! Take care, Amps --------------------- Want: I'm after minifigures and minifigure accessories that are fantasy or pre-firearms historic, e.g. Castle, Ninjago, Prince of Persia, Pharao's Quest baddies, Atlantis baddies. I'm especially after the Lobster/Crab Guardian from Atlantis. Would like to get Anubis minifigures from PQ as well. Have to trade: Loads of castle and some PoP building bricks. Some City minifigures. Some MIP Toy Story and SW promotions from the Mirror. ------------------------
  21. ...and while we're being anal, the "E" of LEGO is pronounced "ay", so "LEGO" is pronounced more like "lay-go" than "leg-o". My brother-in-law is Danish and used to work for LEGO at TLG's HQ. He has coached me on how to say it properly. Amps
  22. I'll try to make it. Want: I'm after minifigures and minifigure accessories that are fantasy or pre-firearms historic, e.g. Loads of fleshy heads and hands. Some MIP Toy Story and SW promotions from the Mirror. I hope to have one of the new Police sets but with the Alsatian and backpack removed. Sir Pinky, If you've got that MIP cow you mentioned, I'd be most interested. Will part trade for the aforementioned Police set. Thanks, Amps
  23. I'll try to make the first Bluewater Swap Meet but will need to think about any Bluewater events thereafter. Getting to BW is a bit of a drag from where I live; Westfield is easy peasy. Amps
  24. I did something similar when S1 came out. I went to the nearest Argos to my office during my lunch break. I bought 60 minifigures on a credit card, sorted them, kept the ones I wanted and returned the rest. I told the staff what I intended to do before I did it and they were completely OK with that. The refund was quick so on that month's credit card bill, I only had to pay for the ones I kept, i.e. I wasn't left out of pocket. However, when I tried to do that with S2, the management of that branch of Argos had implemented a rule limiting the number of minifigures to 4 per customer. So I went to WH Smith and spent a fortune there instead. Amps
