WOW! Thanks a million for all the valuable train info! Helped me ALOT! So... now i must check with the guy which 'nipple' he was refering to... Very interesting...~ Haiz, i'm still caught in between very expensive batteries OR very expensive 9v tracks and train sets.... Guess my move now is to wait for the PF functions prices to drop, since the tracks are cheaper and more readily available.. Luckily the 9v tracks can be used with the RC trains so still not so bad... ~~ What do u think guys?

Very infomative Freddie! Thanks alot! However, one question also comes into my mine now. After much ebay-ing/ bricklink/ local market surveys: Why does the curve 9v train tracks cost at least 3 times lesser than it's counterpart, the straight 9v train track?? Or put it simplily, why is curve cheaper than straight?? If u're good in maths (which i'm not), i believe in geometry, the shortest distance is a straight line... HHHmmm... Seems more metal goes into curve tracks yet they're somewhat cheaper... Interesting sight..

Hello brothers! Well, i'm just into trains and saw alot of your collections which really left me more than amazed... I'll never match those!! Anyway, i need some help being the ignorant new train-nee i am.. I just got the RC passenger train 7897 (by the way, i voted for fancy in Brickster's Poll, hehe) and the batteries are killing me... So, i'm trying (very very hard) to get a nice 9v metroliner set 4558/ 10001, which also happens to be the most sought after 9v train set i think (apart from the Santa Fe)... As such, i would like to ask, what is the nipple of the train motor? I'm in the course of getting one, but with broken nipples on the 9v motor. So does the nipples affect the motor or the overall movement of the train? Can the train run with a broken nipple train? What are the downsides to the broken nipples? Thanks in advance for answering a newbie train-nee question for me~~ Thanks & Cheers ~~

Thank you so much bro for the wonderful review of a most-sought after set of Lego! Never seen the green grocer in all it's glory until your review! Lotsa angles, almost covering all of it! Very comprehensive! However, it's a pity for a poor man like me bacause i'll NEVER be able to get this set ever again... (2 reasons: 1 - Price. 2 - Not available in Singapore... 3 - Even higher price when in Singapore... ) Congrats on this set and thanks again for sharing!!

Oooppsss.. Sorry i just realised my eyes are making tricks for me... Thanks for pointing that out bro! Yap, i guess Red and gray looks better than orange and green for me... ~ Overall, the Santa Fe really looks great for a Freight Locomotive ~ Cheers!
-
Santa Fe!! About the nicest frieght locomotive! The BNSF is very very close behind though, mainly because... Maybe i do like orange more than green...
-
Santa Fe!!! The overall colour scheme and face of the Santa Fe appealed more to me than the BNSF... Maybe i like orange more than green??

Oh! Nice Topic! Just taken a super liking for trains... and i really have to agree with Brickster's article on 'What is a town without a train?" Being a town/ city fan of Lego for almost 21 years now... have never taken a liking to trains until i just boarded one in Taiwan... (Yap can't believe someone so old haven't taken a train before right? (Subway not included) Anyway, back to topic, i love the elegant passenger trains more... No doubt cargo trains provide more playability and more versitility with it's endless range of wagons to pull along, the passenger trains i feel looks alot better and more sleek and it sure looks good when it's running around your town layout...Not to forget the, IMHO, best 9v, or even the best train set in Lego: 10001/ 4554 Metroliner! The legendary passenger train coupled with the legendary wagon car 10002 (Club car) is the absoluate beauty! After a tough comparison with Metroliner and Santa Fe... My vote its still with the passenger trains ~~ Cheers!

WOW! Cute little tractor! It seems very similar to it's precesor, except for the little change in the front of the tractor and the side lever.. Indeed, the main attraction of the set i would believe is the tan coloured hat~~ Almost want it immediately... Thanks for the great review bro! A pity i think i'll never ever be able to lay my hands on this baby...

WOW! Thanks bro for the fine review! Not really a train fan, but i have never come to eyes with this set until ur review! Very interesting set! The buildings are nice with all the minor small details, however, i think the maintenance truck is way below standard... It looks too small and not really sure about the alternative tryes and tracks... Overall a fine set, esp. for train lovers! Thanks again for the hard effort in presenting to us this 'almost neglected' set! Cheers!

WOW! Thanks for sharing bro! I'm digging the truck, but i;m not so sure about the mini van though... The truck is built almost like the one u were trying to emulate! Very nice! Great door opening mechanism and the colour scheme is just great! The details of the three lights at the rear of the truck is just wonderful! (The Brake light, signal light and reverse light) Not so sure i like the front grill though... Anyway, very nice effort! Very nice truck! Cheers!

oh... What a hard choice... Well, i chose Town more because i love the streets and the beautiful buildings that Lego has created so beautifully these few years... And it is soso fun to display your minifigs walking around ur streets, emulating the city life u can see in real life everyday... However, it wiuld be so nice to add a train layout into your town... Right now, my poor lego population has to resort to either walking, cycling or riding 'illegally' atop roof tops of cars....

Thanks for the wonderful review bro! Very very nice plane! I'm absolutely digging the ice cream stand and the female minifig with the hair piece! Very nice and great to suspend up the plane in my display cabinet to save up some road space... I always love these small planes as they can be hang up and looks great! Thanks for sharing and taking the time to do this wonderful review! 3 Thumbs-Up!

WOW! Definate Choice Number ..... *drum roll..* Number 2 for me! Cause, firstly, i think we have a set something like number 1 in 2009 as in 'City Corner' 7641, Secondly we have a truck stop kinda sets in 2009 as in 'Garage' 7942 and in 1987 as in 'Big Rig Truck Stop' 6393 which was a real beauty. However, we never really got a nice monerail except for the most wanted item in ebay right now the 6399 Airport Shuttle. So i believe a transportation system comprosing of a monerail, buses and taxis will be really great! Come to think of it, we only had a bus ONLY until now in City Corner, except for the classic bus station set 379... And we didnt get any taxis except for the spidey set 4850... So i truely wanted buses and taxis, best even a sub-way to complete my town... So, i believe lots more brothers out there also share the same feeling?

Wow! Thanks for sharing all your stories! Here's Mine: I've love Lego since i was about 8?? I enjoyed it so much i remembered i'll always throw a tandrum whenever my parents refused to buy me one.. (Yap i'm a bad bad boy)... And i will keep crying until either 1) i got whacked so hard the whole store is watching (which usually happens about 70% of the time) or 2) i got the set i DIDNT want, usually a cheaper set (which happens say 25% of the time?) or 3) i got the set i wanted.. (Which is either my parents strike lottery or i did very well for my exams)... So i guess i was a pretty bad boy which couldnt get his lego... Now that i have grown to 29, i could start buying lego on my own. However, due to finicial constrain, i still couldnt get the legos i want... With parents out of the way, came another secret strong character u will find at about this age. The name is : W I F E.. she was very very against the idea of me collecting lego.. i had a very hard time trying to hide my lego purchases, and couldnt buy any sets more costly than US$20. It was really bad and i had to hide really hard... Then i came upon ebay. i made some purchases and some sales from it! With that, my wife believed that lego was my passion and wasnt something that waste alot of cash. (As if diamonds aren't)... So with that, i got my green light! However, my resources are that tight i truely find it very costly to maintain and given the ever-rising RSP of the sets, i could only wait for my best sale of the year, our lego damaged boxes clearence sales. I practically gotten ALL my sets are 20-60% off their RSP from it! So now i'm no longer a shadow of lego, but a true fan and always seeking out the best sales for my fav sets! Although i'm normally the last few to get them...

WOW! Plant Power! Exactly what we need in a city-bustling town, a little green and back to nature! Very green and very healthy indeed! Nice little place for the minifigs to rest after a hard days of work... Hope to see the complete product soon! Thanks again for sharing!

WOW! Perfect! Very beautiful MOC! I'm loving the yellow trash can! Very nice! Like the way u built the toilet too! So lovely! Bet it'll be so nice to release in such a nice toilet with two coconut tree tiles~~ The cafe sign is also very nicely done! The coffee machine inside the cafe really looks realistic! In the apartment, very wonderfully built bedside lamp, bed, classic disc player, posters, almost everything is nice! I'll rate this beautiful MOC 11stars over 10 stars!! Very nice! Thanks again for sharing!

WOW! Very nice town! So many MFs!! The minifigs are like crowding around the whole town !! Looks like Chinese New Year in Chinatown here in Singapore!! Very nice set-up with so many different eras of sets... There's even an antique bus!! Could see the Ferrari Truck really stands out from the rest of the trucks! I like the shell parking tower and the hospital! Thanks for sharing! Ur set-up is truely my envy!!
-
Hehe! Cute! The train looks awefully familar.... Emerald Lights mini version?? Nice! The track with its surrounding scenery sums up a beautiful MOC~ Thanks ! Viola!

Nice! I'm loving the cool bin/ dumpster! Very realistic ! The colors and the technic used to make it are top-notch! The mini looks cute! Esp the hacker attachment! Nice! I'm in the construction industry, and you have captured what we always transport our mini excavators in... A bin! Very nice! but can i ask if you have a truck to tow up the bin? Thanks again for sharing ! Superb!

WOW! Nice setup! Cool wedding hall! But i guess the couple wont be happy when it's their Big Day with the hacking works nearby... I love the mini restuarant on top of the Town Hall! and the trees around it, with the overhead street lamps and the fences really made the street very realistic! The bus is cool too! Thanks again for sharing! Wonderful!

Very Very nicely built ! Thank you so much fro sharing this wonderful station! Loving the nice little drawers you can store your personal stuff in... But i'm not sure whether we should have the drawers in a train station? but none-the-less, very beautifully built ! Loving the high ceiling that captures the essence of train stations! The wonderful ATM machine and benches for the minifigs to wait for the train on are beautiful! It even includes a nice store to buy some stuff! Very nice train station ! Thanks again for sharing!

I'm kinda lucky to come from Singapore... It seems alot of complains where about the huge price difference in the States and in Singapore... An Example: A normal set like the construction site 7633: In the States as stated in Lego@Home: US$99.99 In Singapore in normal retail price: S$202.90 Using a very typical conversion rate of US$1 to S$1.50, we get S$149.99 against our price of $202.90... Lotsa difference? However, getting back to this topic, Singapore has a very cool damaged box set sales; meaning a super sale clearing the damaged box sets at 50% or even more!! Luckily for me, mu hunting and perservence got me ALL of my sets at discount prices ranging from 20% all the way to 70%... Sum it up, if we wait, endure (meaning you have to endure the fact that MANY MANY others got their sets before you...) and strike when the time is right, you can get the sets you want at almost half their prices...

Wondeful Review Brickster! Thank you! I'm loving the work vest that the workers wear! Very neat! Yap, the only vest you get now are the ones in City Airport, the plain orange one... There was one which i especially like is the one featured in World City 7033 Amoured Car action, but that's a police force vest... Wonder where we can get these sweet little vest for my workers?? Thanks again for the review! And just to add the conditions of your bricks are very good considering the fact that the set is made in 1979~ Wonderful protection done to preserve them!
