But hopefully something more authentic-looking like this (and less Sexy Halloween Costume). -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11 Rumours & Discussion

I'm thinking it might actually be a Diner Waitress in a retro 50s style, and she might even have roller skates (since LEGO likes to re-use parts). That'd certainly be a far more unique minifigure than just a waitress. -
Agreed. That axe is definitely a tomahawk. My guess is that someone at LEGO screwed up and accidentally made Series 10 parts public on their server. They'll probably disappear as soon as LEGO finds out that we found out.

I love the look of many of these. The old man with the bald cap is pretty hilarious, and the Pierrot clown is just lovely. If one of these is indeed the exclusive minifigure for that book that's coming out, my money would be on the Roman Soldier. Just because that'd arguably be the most desirable one for a lot of people. Those legs don't really match with the rest of that character. A sweater torso and a short skirt? I think it's more likely she'll just have a pair of regular unprinted legs.

There's plenty more too, like this torso which certainly has to be a future CMF. This torso and head look like a marching band musician.

Here are a few more video reviews I just spotted on YouTube:

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 9 Rumours & Discussion

Could this "friend" of yours confirm or deny that the Alien Trooper we've seen is the real deal? Some people are still skeptical. -
Kinda bizarre how the cheapest set includes two printed pieces, yet all (or most) of the others seem to have tons of stickers.
-
The more I see of these, the more excited I get for it. I doubt I'll get every single set, but at least 3 of them look like must-buys to me.

Limited Edition Lego Christmas Set 2012 1/1

One of the children in 10229 Winter Village Cottage has the same torso with little legs too. Considering how random and generally poor/basic the minifigure designs are in the Winter Village series, I'd say thoughtlessness and laziness is the answer to your question.- 67 replies

You built it wrong. The door is supposed to open to the inside.

The mermaid will make a nice addition to the S7 Ocean King and the S8 Diver. -
Maybe people are disappointed in part because they grew up with TMNT and were hoping it'd be a theme that'd have more grown-up appeal, but it's pretty clear this is really just for the younger kids (more than usual, a la the SpongeBob sets). I do think that Krang Lab Escape mech-thing looks pretty cool though. Might pick that one up if the price is right.

LDD 4.3.5 bugs
Graysmith replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I have no idea if it's ever been done in any official set, but a square 2x2 plate definitely fits on top of a barrel just like a round 2x2 plate does (and that's definitely been done, so putting a square 2x2 on there in the same way can't possibly be considered an illegal build). Larger plates than 2x2 definitely can't be attached to a barrel though so I take that back. My mistake. Let me re-state my bug report: 2x2 plates (3022), 2x2 flat tiles (3068) and 2x2 tiles with 1 knob (87580) can be attached on top of barrels IRL but not in LDD. Round 2x2 plates (4032) and tiles (4150) can be attached to barrels in LDD (as well as IRL, of course). Even if LEGO has never built anything with 2x2 square pieces on top of barrels, it shouldn't be considered an illegal build since it's attachment method isn't any different from round 2x2 pieces. -
LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 9 Rumours & Discussion

Here's the character backstory to why the Alien Trooper has the same armor as the Galactic Patrol: LEGO spent a ton of money on making a new mold, and they want to get their money's worth (which means reusing it for more than just one thing). It's the same reason that there's been an Ocean King and the upcoming CMF Mermaid: to get more use out of the mermaid tail mold they made for the POTC sets. CMF Vampire Bat exists because they made that mold for Monster Fighters. Alien Villainess exists to get more use out of that Alien Conquest head. And so on and so forth. Not to say that reusing molds is the SOLE reason for those minifigures to be made, but I bet LEGO's CMF designers are instructed to try and come up with cool, new minifigures that make use of those expensive molds that otherwise have very limited use. -
Had a look at my Uruk-hai set bought several months ago (mid-August or so), and Eomer's legs have the red sash on the legs and the flesh heads are solid. I would guess those older legs were misprints from the very first batches.

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 9 Rumours & Discussion

Very cool! The Alien Trooper and "Dr. Splitz" both look fantastic to me, and more importantly, this means that list is real which is just plain awesome! So many (if not all) sound interesting to me. -
LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 9 Rumours & Discussion
Graysmith replied to muscleman's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It's happened before that early lists (that turned out to be true) had slightly off descriptions though. Like with Series 8 when the list that turned out to be true called the Vampire Bat just a vampire, or how the businessman translated into trader/merchant. I know that's been the case with earlier releases too. So these Maid Marian and Dr. Splitz names might just be what the person who wrote that list decided to call them. The Maid Marian character might just be a medieval maiden of that style, and Dr. Splitz might be a humanoid ape (a la Planet of the Apes), and Dr. Splitz was just the character that popped into their head when they saw it. Basically, the list could still be real even if those names look iffy. -

If the list is real I hope the "Downtown Cop" has one of these hats: (Screenshot from the City Undercover trailer) -
LDD 4.3.5 bugs
Graysmith replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I just tested it again, and the bug is even weirder than I first thought. The helmet will attach to the round 1x1 brick if they are facing the same direction. Rotate the helmet 90 degrees to either side and it won't attach to the round brick (unless you rotate the brick as well). It'll also attach at 180 degrees rotation. -
LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion
Graysmith replied to Piranha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Finally got around to getting the Series 8 minifigures I wanted, and I gotta say it's another great series by LEGO. I don't think I'd rank it as the best, but it's definitely up there and some of the minifigures in this one are among the absolute best they've ever done. My absolute favourite would have to be the diver. I thought the helmet looked too big when photos were first released, but now that I have it (five of them, in fact) I have to say it's just so gorgeous. The only weakness with it is the rather plain head that comes with it. I would've much preferred a tougher face, a more weathered face (with a beard or scruff) but that can be easily fixed. Second after that would be the actor, which is probably the best one in the series (yes, there's a difference between "favourite" and "best"). I say it's the best because it's absolutely flawless in its execution. The details, the head, it's all just perfect. If the diver had a better face it'd probably be the best (as well as favourite) but there you go. Without reviewing all of them, after those two I'd say my favourites are the Cowgirl, Santa and the Alien Villainess. I put the Alien Villainess next to my Alien commander and Alien Conquest sets and she looks just perfect with them. As a huge fan of AC, it's a really nice treat to get something extra to go with your AC collection. Last but not least I'd like to give a shout-out to the DJ which is this series surprise for me. Every series seems to have one minifigure that I'm not particularly interested in at first, but then when I get ahold of it I'm pleasantly surprised by it. The DJ isn't a great minifigure, but I love that hairpiece, and he's got a pretty nice (and useful!) head too. Bring on Series 9! -
LDD 4.3.5 bugs
Graysmith replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
A couple I've spotted: • Can’t attach a 2x2 plate (3022) or a 2x2 plate with 1 knob (87580) to the top of a barrel (2489). In fact, I tried a whole bunch of bricks and plates, and round ones were the only ones that could be attached. Bug or a limitation of the software? • The “Sea King” helmet (89918) does not attach to a round 1x1 brick (3062). It does attach to the nose cone and regular minifig head though. -
Gotta say Kai's Fire Mech looks pretty damn cool. I haven't been buying much of any Ninjago, but I'll definitely be getting that one. Such a cute little mech!

While I don't think it's completely fair to say that LEGO City is all about police and firefighters, I do think it's a shame that LEGO doesn't try to diversify the theme more and keep it more consistently diverse. Even if the police and firefighter sets are what sell best, a genuine attempt to broaden the theme would surely broaden the interest in the theme (maybe get some more girls interested instead of relegating them to Friends), and broaden the interests of the children who play with City sets.
