  1. Jinnipher withdrew her blade and sheathed it, slowly wiping her hair from her face as she did so. When she emerged there was no smugness to her expression anymore, just a stern look of finality. "Let's."
  2. "Fine. I just wanted to see if our mighty doombringer had any last words." Jinnipher raised Beheader and brought it down on the enormous dragon's neck, just below the skull. She was confident the vorpal blade would make a clean cut even through the thick, ancient hide.
  3. Quest #151: I'm glad I got to host again, but I severely underestimated the time commitment. The quest was supposed to finish up around mid July and obviously it went on a month after that. Being in Costa Rica and coming back to move back to school really killed any desire I had to continue the quest, so I'm really sorry for the way it fell off towards the end. It was supposed to end after the last battle, but I think the way it was done could've been better. That being said, I was happier with how the beginning went and the initial concept, which CMP helped out with a lot. Special thanks to you for letting me bounce ideas off you and using your story and characters. I'm glad I could integrate my story into yours a little bit, and now the story is headed in a new direction. I know that the Zylstra story is done, but the characters, particularly the Cardinal, have new purposes. The investigation part was probably the highlight of the quest for me. I felt that I gave a good amount of freedom to the players without leaving it too vague, even if the end result was railroaded. The second half of the quest really just consisted of the pieces falling into place and I'm not happy with the way it turned out. I'm also really glad I got to introduce the imps outside of Hybros' narrative. The references to him by myself and the players (i.e. Sandy/Ellaria) were inevitable but I tried to avoid them as much as possible and step into a new narrative. There was a point where a lot of background could have been revealed, but I didn't want to force it on the players. Besides, it would've been clunky to have a history lesson from Tyrfrix or something. So I offered the choice to find out more about the imps, but in the end the players chose not to pursue that. I think I could've offered more incentive or at least a clearer reason for that bit. I liked introducing Tyrfrix and Queen Nahzka. The latter is definitely a character I'd like to flesh out in the future if I host again. I was little unsure of how to develop Sigil as he was a pretty generic character. I gave him a bit more purpose as a diplomatic leader and powerful spellcaster, but in the end I'm almost happy he was killed off. That was a result of him being KO'd at the end of the battle, by the way. Special thanks to Sandy for the imp character designs and pictures! I'm curious about people's opinions on the imps so far - is their storyline intriguing or have I made it too generic? I'm not sure this quest fully represented what I wanted to communicate about them for the reasons already stated. Battles were hard to balance due to the level differences, but I thought I did alright with those. I didn't realize elemental attacks ignored Sentinel until Flipz explained it to me, hence the Cardinal's special was a bit OP. I thought the loot was fair for the length of the quest. I'll do player feedback later. I'm interested to hear what the players/others thought about the quest.
  4. Tyrfrix's eyes widened. "Your kindness is unmatched, Ellaria. I will speak to my people of this matter, but I can say that we would be most grateful to be your guests, at least until we find a home of our own." Tyrfrix addressed all the heroes. "Again, thank you for your help. I hope to see each of you again some day." With that, he took Sigil's body in his arms and headed down the alleyway, leaving the heroes to find their way back to Heroica Hall. Only a faint stench of smoke exuding from the sewers would be of any indication to outsiders of the disaster. 5. Jinnpher nodded and gripped Beheader with both hands, ready to raise the blade and finish the job, waiting for any final words from the enemy that had haunted the party for what seemed like ages.
  6. Hybros repeats on Marbas (Iustitia) and Bathin (Reaper).
  7. "It's a good thing you did stop her, or this disaster could have been a lot worse." The Baron rubbed his temple and sighed. "All of the citizens fled Zylstra, but our home is gone." "The Queen and the rest of the imps, too." Tyrfrix was still tending to the fallen imp evoker. "Sigil, I am afraid... did not make it." The scholar hung his head in sadness. "Perhaps he could have been saved if healed right away, but it is too late to know for sure. He will live on our memories and songs as a great warrior who paved the way for our people." He proceeded by citing some sort of prayer in impish clicks and hisses. "We have neither the means nor the will to pursue her. Our home is in ashes, our people are scared and displaced... We will have to find food and shelter before anything else." The Baron shook his head. "It's all my fault... I followed that woman all along, never doubting her intentions. I just thought that once... Zylstra would be a safe place. I do not deserve this." He took his hat off and threw it to the ground. "Heroes, imp..." he looked liked he was going to say something important, but then his face hardened. "I must tend to my people. Goodbye." Baron's Oversized Hat (wearer is permanently Encouraged and Slowed; headwear). "The losses of Sigil and Zylstra are a tragedy, but in the end you were successful in your quest. You proved our innocence through your investigations, so these belong to you." Tyrfrix held out six level up mushrooms. "I must also return to my people. A funeral for Sigil is in order, as is determining our next move as a species. I do not know what lies ahead but our people have finally returned to the surface of Olegaia." He looked around himself. "It is... refreshing to breathe this air again. The world has changed in so many ways, and we need to find our place in it. We will be sure to call upon your services should the need arise." THE QUEST IS SUCCESSFUL! ...? Loot: Etherium Ore (may applied to one weapon to allow it to deal the Sealed-effect permanently) Etherium Pauldrons (SP:3, immune to sealed; backwear) Etherium Handcannon (WP:10, deals Sealed) 175 gold 2x Mead 2x Smelling Salts 2x Nostrum 2x Mulled Wine Blind Bomb Seal Bomb QM Note: You may stick around to speak amongst each other or Tyrfrix. I'll have more to say in the QM Lounge but for now I'll just say thank you for your participation and most of all patience. I know this wasn't the most organized quest and I apologize for it. Special thanks to CallMePie for help with the initial idea and most of the pictures, and for letting me use his storyline and NPCs, as well as to Flipz for taking over for the entire month I was gone. I'll post a final party stats update when the loot is divided.
  8. Jinnipher examined Beheader as it dealt a devastating blow. "Well I guess this thing is good for other body parts, too." She joined Gabriel beside the massive creature's head, brandishing her blade beside his handcannon, pointed at the dragon's skull. She wore a smug expression. "And so the mighty Immortalis falls. All your visions of our failure have betrayed you. We make our own fate in this world, dragon." "He's not getting away, Vindsval. Not this one. Let's do what we came here to do." She shook her head. "Fickle creatures. Perhaps they're not pets after all, or partners for that matter."
  9. "It will not be long now. Let us finish this!" Hybros swings Zoot's Reaper at Gaap and Iustitia at Marbas in the front row. If they are defeated he repeats the attack on Andromalius and Eligor.
  10. Thanks for all your hard work Sandy! It's sad to think that Heroica won't ever be what it once was, but I suppose all good things must come to an end. I hope we can properly wrap up the main Eubric storyline at some point, if there is enough interest.
  11. QM Note: Assuming direct control. A round of applesauce for Flipz! I'm back from Costa Rica and will be able to wrap this quest up. Thank you for your understanding. "There ist little hope, heroes. Giveth up now!" Round 7 of the Crimson Crown Crackdown: Ellaria (Mythril Mallet) vs. The Cardinal - Special Damage Hit (The Cardinal: 20+34=54*2*2=216 damage, KO!) Ellaria (Mythril Mallet) vs. Crimson Crown Alchemist Mob C - SHIELD Hit (Mixture - Ellaria: 1 4 1 Purging Water created) >Sigil (KO'd) >Petaldan (KO'd) >Ezeran (Trickster's Baubel) vs. Crimson Crown Chemist Mob C - Miss Damage (nothing happens) >Hunkan (KO'd) Goliath (Magma Maul) vs. Crimson Crown Chemist Mob C - SHIELD (KO) Ellaria: +11 HP (Blessed) The Cardinal eats her words as Ellaria smashes her with her mallet, and Goliath finishes the battle by taking out the chemist. The Cardinal staggers backwards and looks to her allies just outside the ring of fire. "It doth not matter. Thou may have won this battle, but our mission is complete. Goodbye, heroes." The Crimson Crown leader throws a smoke bomb. As soon as it clears she and the remaining goons are gone. Only a few random items remained while the ground continued to burn. THE BATTLE IS VICTORIOUS!! The KO'd heroes rose slowly. Tyrfrix returned with the Baron in tow. The imp quickly tended to Sigil, who laid motionless. "Heroes! The imp filled me in on the situation. We must flee to the surface before we all suffocate, or worse, burn to death! Quickly!" The heroes followed the Baron through the tunnels. They could see that the whole city of Zylstra was aflame, and the fire had spread to far to contain with the equipment they had. Smoke filled the caverns as they ran. Finally, they reached the manhole they had come in through. Rung by rung they climbed up the ladder and escaped to the alleyway in Eubric. Smoke billowed from the manhole but otherwise the street was calm in the night, as if nothing had happened at all. The party took a moment to catch their breath. Eventually, the Baron spoke, looking defeated and angry. "So does someone want to explain to me what the Hel happened down there?!" 12. Jinnipher scoffs. "My intention was never to harm the little lizard. Just keep it out of my way."
  13. Jinnipher simply shrugged, smirked, and drew her blade. "This blade was given to me for a reason. I will see it's purpose through to the end regardless of your relations to the high and mighty lizard." With Beheader, Jinnipher strikes the Left Claw in the front row.
  14. Hybros attacks Samigina with Iustitia and Marbas with Zoot's Reaper. If defeated, he switches to Buer and Dantalion with the same weapons.
  15. "For once, the kid is right. Buzz off, little dragon. "Tch. From the look of it I've known him for longer than you've been alive." "...For once, the kid is right. Keep your pet on a leash."
  16. Hybros gripped his weapons tighter and charged the enemies, seemingly without fatigue. He attacks Murmux with the Sword of Ancestral Hatred and Orobas with Iustitia. If successful he swaps weapons and attacks the same targets, otherwise repeats.
  17. "Hel no. I promised from the beginning of this quest that this sword is cleaving right through that bastard's neck, before you were even recruited. You didn't even know you had a grandmother until five minutes ago and I have a bone to pick. So step aside."
  18. "Hmph. If this is some sort of plea for sympathy then you're sadly mistaken that you'll get any from me. I'm done waiting around." Jinnipher drew the Brine Blade and charged at the Left Rapturewings in the front row.
  19. Hybros looks on as Atramor stands by idly. Distracted, he takes a hit from Balam. He turns and repeats his attack with a vengeance. "No time for rest now, Atramor!"
  20. "Fine then." Jinnipher sheathes her blade and holds her shield in the back row. "It's certainly not stopping our fearless party leader..."
  21. OOC: I believe I should've gained some overkill gold. Hybros spins and slashes, using his wings for momentum. He continues his assault in the front row, aiming Iustitia at Agares and Zoot's Reaper at Balam, twice.
  22. Jinnipher nods to VIndsval as his angel disappears. "Not bad at all." She continues swinging her Brine Blade at the Tail in the back row.
  23. OOC: Namyrra healed Hybros with Mediq, not herself. Also, shouldn't Hybros have gained gold from Overkill? Not sure if the 50% steal bonus would apply to that. Hybros grimaces as the virus continues its hold on Namyrra. "Hold on, we will will try to deal with these enemies soon. The power of that Emblem should keep you standing for at least a little while!" He flipped Iustitia to a backwards grip in one hand and drew his signature Zoot's Reaper with the other, the curved blade singing at the presence of so many of its kin. He led from the front row and attacked Amy the Frigid Succubus and Raum the Shadewalker twice.
  24. QM Note: I've clarified how Specials are chosen, and also edited Sigil's health. Thanks for helping Flipz!
  25. "So be it." The Crimson Crown surrounds the party and The Cardinal produces a scythe resembling a bird's wing. The ring of fire burns around the camp. "Heroes, let me help you! The rest of you, protect the queen!" Sigil joins the party! PREPARE FOR BATTLE!! Weather: Hot (fire-elemental attacks are doubled and ice-elemental attacks are halved). Note: A ring of fire surrounds the party. Switching rows will deal the Burned-5 effect. The party cannot flee. Note: The Mob counts as one target but is made up of individual members. As each member of the Mob is killed its stats lower, also until the Standing Party #>Mob # the Mob always gets a free hit.
