Fingers crossed the new rich-text editor doesn't bug out like the old one used to...here's hoping! Thanks for the upgrade, everyone, I am liking the sleek new look, and pages definitely seem to be loading faster (though that may be because most of the old BBCode is still broken until the script gets to it ). On the subject of the editor, are there plans to bring back the plain-text editor as an option, just in case? I guess I'll reiterate that the quote button is a little intrusive at the moment and that the separation between posts and signatures is a little hard to delineate, but I'd imagine that you're already working on those issues as part of rebuilding the overall style and appearance of the site. Question time: Is there a reason my avatar is broken while most other people's seem to be fine? I tried to re-upload my avatar manually, but the new file size limit seems absurdly small compared to what we had before. Also, bug report: as of ~1 hour ago, the mobile version of the site respects the "view desktop version" setting on Firefox mobile, but ignores the "view computer version" of the default Android internet app (which I'm 90% sure is just Chrome under a different name). Or rather, it keeps the mobile page and layout and width, but expands the scrollable screen area to desktop size, it's quite strange. (I'm on desktop Firefox now, so I can't go back and check at the moment, the issue may already be fixed.)

Hmm, wonder why my avatar got deleted when everyone else's is fine? I'll have to try and fix it when I'm back on desktop. Oddly, the site respects mobile Firefox when it asks for desktop mode, but doesn't respect Chrome when it does the same.

Zanna grins triumphantly as her opponent falls. Seeing that the others have the situation well in hand, she switches back to Sven's Dagger and strikes out at the last Battle Ant from the Front Row. Size ain't everything, what matters is how you use it.

With the Battle Ants no longer a threat, Zanna turns her attack toward the Working Hornets Mob from the Front Row, this time with Sir Roderick's Sword. Zanna shrugs. "It is not strange, it is just a sign of less ecks...ex-spear...a sign of few fights. I used to count kills in Kalma, before the count got too big. We all did, when we were very young."

With a watery roar, Zanna stabs at the Battle Ant Mob from the Front Row with Sven's Dagger, trusting her fellow tribe members would follow her into battle. Battle Order: (and currently-submitted actions) Zanna (Sven's Dagger) vs. Battle Ant Mob - The Blanton The Addok-Zo The Bruhalv

"Yes, the demon should start running if it wants to live. We are warriors of... Zanna belatedly remembers the Blanton's warning not to mention Heroica. "...a mighty tribe that has killed lots of demons. We do not fear them." Zanna laughs in the demon's face. "You have never met a Selkreeth. The only one who will die here is you."

Loot Distribution Boris: 2 Tonics Addok-Zo: 2 Potions, Venom Zanna gathers up the fallen bodies, squeezing the liquids out of the insects' internal organs and bottling them in vials she carries at her belt. She hands the resulting Tonics to the khrnkav, who would have use for them, and the rest to the Addok-Zo, whose skilled shots had both started the battle and finished one foe. She also gives her own personal Venom to the Blanton. "We fought well. Rejoice now in your win and your spoils." Privately, Zanna is disappointed in herself for having fought so little, but she tries not to let it show. She glances behind herself to see how the stranger is doing.

*Looks at 150* See this is why I like Tiger Balms over Neutralizers in case of emergency, not only do you not have to remove your own party's positive effects, you also ensure that the enemy can't ever have positive effects again. Don't get me wrong, Neutralizers have their uses, but at the end of the day they're a clumsy solution to a rare problem (enemy has only positive effects and allies have only negative effects). *Looks at own inventory* ...never mind, I retract my previous smugness, looks like it's time for me to restock.

Pleased with her fellow tribe members' efforts, Zanna unsheaths Sir Roderick's Sword, drawing and attacking Working Hornets Mob 1 from the Front Row in one smooth motion. "Let us all attack this group, the others still cannot harm me! The same order is fine." "Hmpf." Zannaqim seems disappointed. "Small ramanra are not as strong as real ramanra. In Kalma these would be more big than me." Zanna drinks her Trial Brew from the Back Row, hoping the name meant it would increase her challenge. "Please fight in this order:" Battle Order: (and currently-submitted actions) >Zannaqim drinks Trial Brew >The Blanton (Ranger's Longbow) vs. Working Hornets Mob 2 - >The Addok-Zo (Jury-Rigged Long Hand Cannon) vs. Yellow Jacket Mob - The Bruhalv (Staff of the Cultist Battlemage) vs. Working Hornets Mob 1 -

"What is 'beehive'? It looks like a very small nest for a very small kind of ramanra. In Kalma, it would be many, many times more big." Zanna decides to keep quiet and let the Bruhalv negotiate with the strange human, though she keeps her hand very near her dagger.

Yeah, I'd much prefer some short forays over the finale for now--more than one per year would probably kill me, especially with my upcoming two hosts being rather large and involved. ...maybe a short sweet excursion with Shadeaux rep for Arthur? Quest Coming Soontm I gotta leave something to fill the time while 150 wraps up. As you wish! In a familiar place...with a familiar face...the adventure begins anew!

"It is a trap," Zanna states without hesitation. She scans her environment for tactical advantages, and is rewarded with a sight of something not unfamiliar to the marshlander. "Khrnmalv...ah, Addok-Zo...if you can shoot the yellow thing in the tree, please do so now. If it is what I think it is, it will fix our...it will get rid of the man in our path."

Just remember that Punii lives in Eubric now, and Ayla died in...81 was it? Yeah, Quest #81. IIRC that was the last time anything happened that affected Luosh. (Maybe Endgame should write some info on it for the wiki, HINT HINT ENDGAME ) Hmm...want to tease my upcoming Quests, but not sure what to post. What would people like to see a teaser about: something fancy, something familiar, or something grim?

Zanna chooses not to respond to the Blanton's explanation; she understands enough that her own observations will be more helpful than the awkward half-conversations she'd have to muddle through for more information. "Like all Selkreeth, I am from Kalma. We Selkreeth live there in many tribes, always at war with other tribes to test our strength. We do not fear hurt, because we heal fast and are almost not-possible to kill. Kalma is a bad place for those who are not Selkreeth, though. You should not go there, Kalma will kill most humans who do."
-
Zanna blinks once as she processes the explanation. "I see," she replies, filing the colloquialism away for future use. She stows away her dagger once more, but keeps her gaze alert for potential ambushers. *'Inside job'? Speaking in secrecy? Could that mean that the Blanton shares my suspicions?* "Please speak more of this...'inside job'. I do not know 'sen-si-tive' or 'disk-resh-un', but your kind of speaking is...ksk...meant to be not known, yes? If that is it, then do not worry--my Common is bad, but that makes it more easy to keep things not known." Zanna attempts the gesture of briefly closing and then opening one eye, as she had seen several human msh'ksk do to demonstrate trustworthiness, but between her slightly translucent nictitating membranes and the uneasy wiggling of her skinless cartilaginous head-tentacles, the gesture is more unsettling than anything else.
-
Zanna just stares at the William Blanton. "How can walls have ears? Unless they are alive...? Are they the enemy you gave us the call to fight?" Zanna unsheaths her dagger, readying herself for battle as best she can. "'Clar-ick'...it is close enough. Khrnkav are rare among the Selkreeth of Kalma. We do not have much use for them. Our kind heal fast, and most things cannot kill us for only a short time, and even less can kill us for all time." At last, something Zanna can understand. "Ah. Allies of a weak tribe. How strong is their [[honor-bond]] to our tribe? Do we need to..." Zanna struggles for "consider" for several seconds, before giving up and trying a different phrasing. "Will they break their bond if we...hmm...win?...where they have lost? Or could they have...breaked?...their bond to turn against us in...what is the Common word...'se-cret'? Could they be the ones who did the raid?"

If I had to guess, it was probably missed content from 135. That was the Quest exploring Baba's backstory, after all, and it got cut short before it could be finished.
-
Zanna stares at Boris in confusion, then shakes her head. "No, that is...khrnkav is no name, that would be like if my name was msh'ksk--'Rogue' as I am told. Khrnkav is a...way of battle. I am msh'ksk, the Addok-zo is khrnmalv...by your mace you are khrnkav or mshkav, or Selkreeth who follows ways of...navrask...I do not know the word." Zanna is about to struggle further, when the party's employer appears. "My name is Zannaqim. I am msh'ksk of the tribe of Heroica. [[i answer the tribe-call-to-arms.]]" As she completes the oath in Selkreeth, she crosses and folds back her arms in a diamond shape in her traditional salute, before finally climbing aboard the cart. Once seated, she listens as the William Blanton caller-to-arms and the Bruhalv exchange words. Despite their rapidity and difficult-to-interpret tones, she does her best to keep up. "What is this tribe of Hinck-well you speak of? Will their warriors fight with us against the enemy?" Zannaqim looks around, expecting the armies of their seeming allies to appear at any moment.

OOC: Zanna bought one of each Tool from the Marketplace, and she's borrowing Arthur's book "Of Power and Mortals"; her Heroica Stats post (link in my signature) should be correct now. Still following her compass, Zannaqim wanders her way into the other Heroes. She notes the unfamiliar Cleric and the Ranger from the Hall. "Oh...hello khrnmalv. It is good to see you." She frowns slightly. "Are we the only members of the tribe here? Why did so few answer the call-to-arms?" *I wonder if the book the Arthur gave me would explain...* She pages through "Of Power and Mortals" briefly, but it is filled with unfamiliar words in an unfamiliar tongue. At least the letters were not too different from those used in Kalma--and the diagrams appeared useful as well. Still, she can tell from a glance it will take time--and perhaps help--for her to make sense of it. She approaches the cleric. "My name is Zannaqim. You are khrnkav, yes? Do you know why the one who made the call-to-arms not here?"
-
After spending several minutes lost in Eubric's many streets, Zannaqim finally finds her way to the Marketplace, seeming uncomfortable among the merchants and stalls. *I hope that I am not swindled as I was with the Venom...* She soon finds herself in front of a ramshackle toolshed manned by a bearded gnome. "Forgive me, but are you the Gnomeo that the Arthur told me to seek?" "Nyeh! What's it to you, you--" Zanna holds up the bag of 155 gold coins the Arthur had given her. "I was told to buy your...'tools', is the word?" The speechless gnome takes the money, giving Zanna a Bedroll, Shovel, Pickaxe, Magnifying Glass, Telescope, and Magic Compass in exchange. "Thank you." Leaving the shell-shocked shopkeeper behind her, Zanna takes her new Magic Compass and concentrates on the directions she has been given to the call-to-arms.
-
Noticing Zannaqim's name on the Questboard, Arthur takes a moment to pass by the green Selkreeth. "Here," he says, counting out 155 Gold. "On the Quest board is a map to the Marketplace, go find Gnomeo's stall and buy his tools--they'll be helpful on your Quest. Oh...and you might find this helpful as well--you seem to know power, so perhaps it will aid in learning Common." Arthur lends Zanna "Of Power and Mortals". Zanna stares at Arthur confusedly, before seeing her scribbled scrawl among the few names not crossed out on the call-to-arms. "Ah...thank you." Gathering her gear, Zanna prepares to visit this 'Marketplace' before answering the call.
