The leaker obviously decided to leak the Bionicle info for next year instead of Star Wars and HF because there's so much more interest in it. Just look at how much this topic has spiked up since the initial leaks. I don't think posting has ever increased this dramatically, or this magnitude of new members joining, for any HF leaks. Or it could have just been what he himself was most interested in

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have more female characters. It's a shame that we only got Kiina in 2009 and not any female fire or ice tribe members, for example. But I don't think there's a high chance of that happening unless they completely change both the marketing style and the target audience for Bionicle. For example, in a wave of six sets with three male and three female characters, the male half are going to sell better because young boys can identify better with male characters, and the majority of young girls probably aren't going to buy sets that look like boys' toys (assuming that LEGO wouldn't make an effort to make the female characters actually look female... remember Hahli Inika and Gali Mistika? shudder) It kind of makes me wish that: A) Bionicle would get as much mainstream attention as, say, Transformers, thus increasing public awareness and bringing in a large percentage of female fans in order to change LEGO's mind about this issue B) Bionicle would be aimed at an older target audience. A is much more likely than B unfortunately, because it is LEGO that we're talking about here. But who knows what will happen in the story next year? We can only hope.

What monogender tribes? Glatorian and Agori are canonically capable of biological reproduction, and each tribe has both male and female members (although we've only ever seen one female in story for some reason). As for your point about female fans... what? I've been a hardcore Bionicle fan since 2007, and never once met a female fan online. I think maybe there were one or two on BZP back in the day who were artists, but that's about it. It's not just Bionicle that has a seriously smaller amount of female characters, it's virtually every LEGO theme ever created with the exception of deliberately "girly" themes such as Friends. That's why they exist - LEGO believe that girls are more likely to buy stereotypically girly products than themes like Bionicle that are about warring alien creatures. It's not sexist, it's a sound business strategy that has proven itself time and time again (okay, maybe it is a little bit sexist, but that doesn't stop the money coming in).

If it is a reboot, I wonder if Akamai and Wairuha will also return. They could look slightly less awkward with the new building system, and it would be another incentive to buy multiple sets...

Greg or someone else could always bridge the gap via a novel or even bioniclestory.com (assuming it gets brought back up).

I'm still holding out hope that this takes place in the future, possibly on Bota Magna, so ten years of backstory aren't needlessly erased. Sure, the story can be (and should be) detached from what's come before to cater to new audiences, but throwing out all that continuity would be a hell of a waste.

Has anyone thought that we're getting six heroes (the Toa Mata/Nuva) and six villains (the "Defenders")? Chro commented on the video that TheThreeVirtues made about the supposed set names, and he said that most of them were very badly translated. Obviously, you can't mistranslate words like Tahu and Kopaka, so it's safe to say that we're getting them back, but the "Defenders" and the "Lord of Skull Spiders" is different. Personally I think that the Defenders are the six Element Lords which our heroes are pitted against for whatever reason. As for the Skull Spider though, I have no idea.

Why can't we have a Bionicle series with the same sort of tone as Avatar: The Last Airbender? One that takes itself seriously for the most part and has an underlying mythology that is constantly being explored...

The leaked pic looks like a mockup of a retail stand, it's likely that there'll be the usual polybags and larger exclusive sets as well.

Mine was 2007, I remember seeing the leaked prelims of the Phantoka and their accompanying Matoran sets. An awesome moment. I used to get hyped for leaks every year up until Bionicle's cancellation. Also, I'm starting to wonder if Bionicle 2015 is really going to be a retelling after all. It's heavily rumoured that one of the sets is Takanuva, and another could be a Visorak. Along with the "blue Gresh" theory, does anyone else feel like we could be getting remakes of the Stars to kick off the new series?

I'd be happy with new Bionicle sets using a mixture of CCBS with a couple of old parts, and a story far separated from what has come before. Tieing up the loose ends of the story serials and that would be nice though, perhaps if bioniclestory.com gets brought back...

Here is the link for those who need it. One thing to bear in mind though is that this FAQ hasn't been updated since BIONICLE was cancelled - and the stickied thread on the LMBs which also said that they had no plans to bring it back had been removed either today or yesterday.

Aiming it at a slightly older audience like the rumours indicate would be welcome. They could release an animated or CGI movie on Netflix which ties into the first year of the relaunch! As far as story goes, personally I hope that it'll be set in the future on Spherus Magna with a new cast. The new heroes might have to go around finding masks to prevent evil and the like. That way, there are enough references to the original story to keep old fans satisfied, but with new characters and a new mission in the future.

All aspects of this discovery have me excited - new sets, the potential for new storylines, etc etc... but I must admit, seeing the surge in activity in this topic and the accompanying one over at a certain BIONICLE website that begins with a B and a Z, has me a little emotional. Even if for some reason the leaked pictures turned out to be part of an elaborate ruse, it's still been great seeing the disparate BIONICLE community from the good old days reform over this subject. And like I said, even if it was a hoax, maybe LEGO would notice the surge in enthusiasm for BIONICLE and consider bringing it back because of this anyway. Anything's possible.

Looking forward to the other playthroughs that will be published before E3 ends, hopefully we'll get a glimpse at some of the locked characters. -

We're gonna get plenty of LEGO-related, superhero related, and presumably LEGO Super Heroes-related announcements next month at the San Diego Comic-Con, so don't worry that this theme has come to a standstill. (Unless they say that it has. In which case, worry.) -

Well, that really sucks. Gonna have to cough up for ridiculous shipping costs from Bricklink sellers in the US, it seems... -

A big exclusive Svartalfheim set containing Thor in his new costume, Malekith, Jane Foster, Sif, the Warriors Three and a Dark Elf or two would satisfy me -
A bit disappointed with the lack of a Marvel exclusive, but oh well...

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
King of Nynrah replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Well news has been slow here lately, and this is nothing earth-shattering but I felt obliged to share it anyway. Amazon UK have started doing reductions on almost every Super Heroes set, with some off by as much as £17. http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Dtoys&field-keywords=lego+superheroes+&sprefix=lego+super%2Ctoys%2C150&rh=n%3A468292%2Ck%3Alego+superheroes+ A shame they don't stock the new movie though... I'm still waiting on that. -

Does the edition of LEGO Batman the Movie: DC Superheroes Unite with the Clark Kent minifigure have a UK release date? I don't really care about the film itself, but I have a feeling I'm gonna have to fork out to international sellers to get the minifigure...
