  1. Fuchal's Market/House on lot 40 is now completed. thread can be found here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=64505 Xyver
  2. Fuchal's shop in the City of Albion is now open for business. We supply many goods produced in the shire of Fuchal including fruit and vegetables, wooden products (windows/barrels/wheels/buckets), stone and a few tools produced by the local blacksmith. The ground floor of the shop is made from a high quality white stone from the quarry in Fuchal for the front, with a dark grey stone for the rear. The first floor and attic are a local timber painted in a nice cool blue. The ground floor is the shop - though the carpenters are yet to fit it out, Horley is operating the stoor outside. As you can see, he is very excited about running the store - it looks like someone is interested in the tools already. Front Left side Ride side Back Inside The first floor is accomodation for Lord Xyver when he is visiting the capital. After a long trip, he is enjoying one of the local brews with his current acquaintance. Entry is via a set of stairs on the right hand side of the shop There are sliding doors opening onto the balcony and inward opening doors onto the smaller back balcony There is also a trapdoor leading down into the shop The roof contains an attic for extra storage, again with a trapdoor for access. this one opening upwards. Once again my building is modular, but I'm not real good at the finer details which is why the insides are fairly bare. The bed and table are taken straight from the MMV which I had to pull apart to make this building. The sliding doors are just 6x4 plates with brown tiles on top, kept in place by no tiles on the ground, but tiles in front, and a plate hanging down from the overhang to stop them from falling forward. This method works quite well and they slide smoothly, the only problem being that they continue to slide to each direction as there is nothing stopping them in the middle. The doorway they cover is 6 wide. Any critiques or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  3. The Shire of Fuchal welcomes everyone. Located in the South East corner of Avalonia, just inside the boarder wall, Fuchal would be a great place to set up an Embassy for those wanting a presence in Avalonia but not wanting to push too deep into its lands. We are a prosperous area, with fertile farmland and surrounded by lush green hills. A quarry nearby provides high quality stone for construction and there is an old forest which provides strong, straight timber. Lord Xyver
  4. I like it. That gun looks really good, and the spare tire on the roof of the truck is a nice touch.
  5. I am very happy that they have released the Friends line. I have a 5 year old daughter who really enjoys playing with the Lego sets that I have, 'play' being the key word. I'll build the set and she'll play around with the minfigs. I have a small town scene set up for her which she loves and will play 'family' in the houses etc, that's when she's not playing arrest the criminal. She's also a huge fan of Star Wars (takes after her me) and loves playing with them too, but has been wanting more of the Belleville sets, or barbie lego, as she calls it. The problem was that the Belleville was not to scale with the rest of the buildings, but with these new Friends sets, they are. These are going to provide a nice addition rather than just more police and firemen. Girls love to play dolls and many of them like to play with Lego, this combines the two in scale, what could be better? Although I do believe Lego has always been a unisex toy, most of the sets appeal more to boys than girls, in general. The local shops even advertise Lego under 'Boys Toys' which has always erked me, so its not Lego's fault. These new sets will give younger girls the dolls they want to play with, on a scale that means they can get other Lego buildings to compliment them and also encourage them to build, something other doll lines do not. I think thats a great thing. My only annoyance is that they aren't coming to Australia until March, and my daughters birthday is at the start of March, they better be in early...

    MOC - Toy Shop

The building construction has finished, now to outfit the shop. I'm not real good at the details so thought I'd post pictures of the building and get some advice on how best to fit it out. I've made it so the roof comes off, the sign isn't real stable though, but easy enough to put back on. Close-up shot of the Toys sign Close-up of the industrial waste bin. This one was hard to get the scale right, its actually too tall for a mini-fig, but any shorter wouldn't work for the lids, and the lid seems to be the right scale for a minifig so what do you do. Front entrance - found a use for the eye bricks, will put flag poles in the headlight bricks. Front road facing wall - found a use for all the windows that I took out of the front of the fire station - no glass panels though Rear - probably should put a storeroom in the shop and a back entrance in, not sure where though, I guess the back corner would be best. The yellow car is my own design, the red one is a sligh mod of the Sports Car. You can see the Lego City Truck parked out back, it has no trailer as its panels have been used for the walls of the shop. Any comments, criticisms and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.
  7. When the first post is next updated, could you please update my titles to include 'Champion of Avalonia' and 'Lord High of Agriculture'. I've noticed my farm has been linked, that was quick - thanks.
  8. After some recent heavy rains, the seeds have begun to grow. There is not much to do this day, so Arden jumps around in the puddle while his sister Larla plays with the piglet in its pen. Their father Crale brings in some hay bales while mum Dortha happily watches her children play. a closer view of the farmhouse front rear
  9. Target has been having Lego on sale a lot recently. I've picked up quite a bit at 20% off on their sales. They had 20% off all toys last week so picked up the Mill Village Raid set for $95, but they were all buy sold out of City sets. Maybe they are trying to clear out all the current stock for the new 2012 sets to come in. The biggest problem is that all the shops (BigW, Kmart and Target) all have different sets in stock so you have to go to all of them to get what you want. The best sale I've found was buy 2 get 1 free at Myer, but I don't know if they advertise them so you just have to get lucky when you go in to find the sale. I was 'this' close to spending over $300 on Lego that day to get some of the bigger sets, but just couldn't do it. If I come across another one though...
  10. I like them, so keep posting. I'll even make some of them too for my MOCs if that's ok.
  11. I finally showed the pictures on brickset for this theme to my daughter this morning (she's 5) and she was most impressed. She does love the standard Lego (police and fire mainly) but is more into playing with it than the building side, which suits me fine as it allows me to build! She always wants more of Bellville (which she calls barbie lego) I have only bought a couple of the smaller Bellville sets due to the high cost for what you get, but to me these look much better. They are on minifig scale and the buildings will fit easily into a Lego town, plus all the prettier colours will work well for building shops/cafes etc. I'm looking forward to getting some of these when they finally come out, they should fit nicely alongside the modular houses that I have.
  12. That is just too awesome for words
  13. Kerntechniker, I am a master of everything I do! The other lord obviously not as he was not up to the task. As for the land, I did indeed inherit some swamp land, but it now acts as a border between of my land, so all is good.
  14. When a neighbouring lord disputed the boundary of our lands, it was decided to settle it the old fashioned way. After meeting at mid day under the lone tree, my neighbour now wishes he hadn't been so picky. With my lance broken from the impact, and him lying on the ground a broken man, he offered me some of his land in exchange for his life. Not wanting to be greedy I agreed - I could have easily taken his life and all of his land.
  15. That is truly amazing, so different to the standard grey and brown like almost every other tower. Can't wait to see more.
  16. I would like to purchase lot 40. It will be a shop to sell what I produce on my land (haven't decided what just yet) as well as a residence above for when I am in the capital on business.
  17. A group of weary travellers have requested lodgings for the night. It would appear that the local brew was too much for the youngest of the group.
  18. Sorry Andonii, that was my first try at putting in a link, I guess I didn't do it right and it was all sorts of fun editing it as it kept playing up. If it still doesn't work, its in the thread titled Avalonia Stables.
  19. My Lord, I have upgraded my stables. If you happen out to the south eastern edge of Avalonia your horses will now be lodged in something more becoming their importance. The carpenters will soon have the room above the stables fitted out as accomodation for the weary traveller as well. Scroll down this topic to see more photos
  20. The workers have been busy in the quarry and have at last produced enough stone to upgrade my stables. Now my horses have somewhere to stay that more amply reflects the grandness of me. Now if only the carpenters would stop drinking the mead and get to work. I have made this a modular build for easy access/play of the horses inside. The colours of Avalonia need to be added, but all I have are on my tower and I don't want to pull that apart just yet. Maybe once Santa delivers the Mill Village Raid to me I will be able to decorate the stables appropriately.
  21. Thanks for the colour update LGG. trans green isn't the colour I was thinking of (more trans blue) but it works great. I love it.
  22. I do like the red one better, the rounded headlights being more authentic, but these multicoloured ones are still cool. That's a nice little collection you have. I think I'd like to see one in all black, or maybe black with a red bottom plate. Or go all out street racer and light up the underside, even just with trans pieces down the sidesteps.
  23. Captain Beerbeard, Its nice of you to build a tower on the Border Wall to protect my land for me, saves my men from having to do it. I look forward to taxing your troops on their travels.

    Holden Ute

Thank you for the feedback, that's what I post on here for. Due to the way the windscreen is built, and the angle pieces I used for the mirrors, they can't be attached lower, though I agree it would look better. I also don't have any more yellow tiles, all the ones I have are under the doors (seriously lacking in pieces I know) It doesn't look as square in the brick as it does in the pictures, obviously proof that my photography skills are seriously lacking, but it does require more rounded pieces than I have to use.

LT - I'm not sure which model it is, I just did a google image search and that's what came up. It's a HSV Maloo ute and I'm guessing its the current one (I like them, but don't know the series names). The lights probably should be plates rather than round though. Bootz - I was just using the parts I had from the Cool Cruiser set, so with their curved sections and archs for the wheels it put my proportions off a bit. Its about 4-6 bricks too long for the width, most of it in the front end. That's also the difficulty I had doing to windscreen, I'm not happy with it but don't have the know-how to fix it up, was running short of yellow by this stage too.
