Your disaster pieces are truly amazing, keep them coming.

    Police station

Nice job Ludzik, I especially like the way you've done the helipad and the sloped roof over the staircase stops it all from being too sqaurish. My next project is to improve the police station in my town, this have given me some ideas, thanks.

    City Bank

Thanks for the comments. LT, this design came straight out of my imagination. My fire station did too, but as it turns out it looks remarkably like my local fire station, which has a similar sloping roof, but only a single level and I'm not sure where the vehicles actually go, so that one might have been subconcious. The reason for all the yellow is because I have a lot of yellow and wanted to do something with it. I've changed the 1st floor exterior a little bit, changed the side angles to grey and added a couple of grey bricks to the middle. I've also added some grey slops to the roof, again just to break up all the yellow. and the grey on top was supposed to be an aircon unit, just did something quickly last night before putting up the photos, this one is a bit better I think

    City Bank

With all the new residents of Naiaville, and the recent Motel being built, the bank needed an upgrade. The new branch is now open for business, though the offices upstairs are yet to be fitted out. Front Right side Ground floor Foyer Teller Safe First Floor And her it is in Long Street Please let me know what you think and what areas you would improve/change, I really value your feedback.
  5. Just picked up the Alien Conquest 7066 - Earth Defense HQ for 99 at KMart Capalaba, they still have 2 left. Don't really want it for the vehicle, but for the parts and the aliens! I also noticed they had a clearence on 3367 -Space Shuttle. It was a great deal too $50 (that's 1c ABOVE RRP). I do want one, but will wait until the price is actually reduced.

    Fire Station

With the amount of firemen employed in Naiaville it required an upgrade to the fire station. A bigger, modern building was built to accomodate everyone and provide them with more facilities. Front - full shot Front Right - one of the firmen is taking a nap Left - full shot Back Stair training Vehicle bay - the sloped roof section is hinged to allow access to the vehicles Top floor - sleeping quarters and recreational area plus top of the spiral staircase and fireman's pole some men playing pool the only girl on the team proving she is as capable as the men top of the fire pole the first floor lifts off for access to the ground floor. I left an area around the stairs to make it sturdier a look at the arches between the two sides, with the first floor removed I need to order some more slide rails and sliding doors for the back and add some extra details on the ground floor, probably an office. They need a change room but not sure if there's room for that
  7. Kmart at Capalaba (Qld) has the Hogwarts set (4867) on clearance for $59 - that's 40% off, there's been 5 or 6 there for the last few weeks now. I'm not in to Harry Potter, but all the tan pieces and the green roof might come in handy. Probably wait to see if it drops any more though before I pick it up, I've spent way too much on Lego this year already.
  8. Well done Angeli, its was truly a contest fitting of the land of Historica. DehGems, bitterly disappointed with going out in the first round is already back training, next time he will sharpen his claws. He won't be stuck in spider web again! I am proud of him though as he refused to give up till the bitter end and has done his master proud. Well done to all the other entrants, I must say I started cheering for William as the rounds progressed, but it was not to be.

    MOD Cafe Corner

No bad feelings, I understand what you meant, I'm always open to constructive criticism, its the only way to learn what works and what doesn't. I'd like to build MOCs to the standard of what other people post on here, some of them are just amazing, but you can only learn so much from a few photos and I figured the best place to start to learn the required techniques was from the modulars as the instructions are freely available. As for colour choice, well, that's always personal opinion. Red isn't the best choice of colours I agree, but I do like the way it turned out.

    MOD Cafe Corner

Thanks for the replies everyone, I'm glad people like what I've done. MadManMingo, I quite like the design of the CC which is why I wanted to recreate it as best I could. Also, most of my other city builds are fairly plain as I'm not that artistically creative, so this was also a build to see how some things are done so I can incorporate something similar into future builds. As for the colours, well they weren't my preferred choice, but the best I could do with what I have, though I do think it turned out rather nicely. I've got the ground floor of a larger firestation built, just thinking of how to do the next level, so all my red is already spoken for. All the houses are white, so wanted to do something with more colour and I didn't think yellow would look that good for this one. I've done a few Historica builds so had ordered quite a lot of dark bley for them, but only used it in my last build which I didn't like the look of, so I pulled that apart and made this instead. Legocrazy81, once I'd finished it I thought it would look better with facade the whole way down, but I only had two round 1x1 bricks left in red so left it how it was. HighFlyer, I will give the front a go in white, I think you might be right in that looking better. I'll make these couple of changes and upload the results. Edit: I've made the changes, the white front didn't work in my opinion, but I've kept the red facade on the first level, not sure if it makes it look any better or not:
  11. B-OM-12E Coming out of my dark ages after most of the modulars have been and gone, I didn't feel like scouring BrickLink for all the parts to make Cafe Corner so I thought I'd give it a go with the pieces I do have. I had to change most of the colours and the decorative pieces, but I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. I also don't have many spare tiles, so the footpath will have to wait. Front right side left side Some close ups ground floor 1st floor top floor sign - I don't have many 1x1 plates, but plenty of 1x1 round plates so I used them instead back - I ran out of dark bley bricks, so had to use the castle panels instead Now to make some of the others to increase the size of my town.
  12. I was at Myer Carindale on Sunday, it was good timing as they had the 3 for 2 sale going, but they had very little Lego left. I'm not sure they even had any Star Wars sets at all. I did pick up some of the new City Vehicles though, so was happy with that. They also had 2 Tower Bridges in stock. 3 for 2 would've been a great deal on them, all those pieces...
  13. I know our prices are higher and I accept that, just querying the extra $10 on the Star Wars set when US rrps are both the same.
  14. Just been to Target for their 20% off sale and picked up the garbage truck and droid escape. no wonder the droid escape didn't have a price tag as it was 31.20, that's 40 retail. A total rort considering both sets are 20US and the garbage truck is AU29. Why the extra$10?
  15. On one of his early trading missions through the Rakath Mountains, Lord Xyver came upon a baby creature huddled beside its dead mother who had been killed by poachers for her horns. Having only heard about these creatures as legend, he took the baby and nurtured it. Fiercely loyal and with the strength of many men, DehGems has proven himself many times in battle and wishes to attend the Gladiator games for the glory of himself, his Lord and Avalonia.
  16. That is some more great work you've done de Gothia. I really like the grey tiles in the roof, it makes it look patched up, which is how I imagine these buildings anyway, and all the recessed windows look great. The fact that your made two MOCs combined so seemlessly is just an added bonus.
  17. Built into the Rakath Mountains, on the outskirts of the town near Dr Rod's Tower, the Avalonian Embassy provides an invaluable services to traders and citizens of Avalonia. The front gate includes a rampart and watchtower, with a signal fire providing a directional guide amidst the gloom of the Darklands. The internal buildings include: * an office for official business with accomodation for the ambassador above * locable storage area for supplies * Meeting room situated above the main complex, built into a ledger of the mountains A tunnel system in the mountains, accessed by the arched entrance above the storage area, provide extra accomodation and storage for the men and women working in the embassy and for those requiring the services of Avalonia. The first load of supplies are now arriving from Avalonia, much to the relief of the builders who watch on from the rampart above the front gate A rock arch was crafted as a welcome sign for those visiting the embassy. An internal picture of the Embassy showing the buildings (I had to remove part of the rampart to get this shot) And an overhead shot showing the layout I would have liked to build a rock wall behind the whole structure, to better show how it is built into the mountain, but I ran out of dark bley bricks, so you will just have to use your imaginations. Any comments, tips or criticism are greatly appreciated. Xyver
  18. My Embassy is constructed and the builders are relieved now that the first of the Avalonians are arriving with much needed supplies and staff. This is an Embassy in Nocturnus, built into the mountainside near Dr Rod's Watchtower. Better and more photos will be put up in their own thread tonight. Xyver

  20. Dr Rod, Thank you for accepting my proposal, my embassy is all but finished, just need to add the little touches. It is built into the mountain with rocky surrounds and stone pathway, so will fit in well I fell. No soil anywhere to be seen. I will post some pictures once I am happy with it. Lord Xyver
  21. Dr Rod, I am in the midst of constructing a Embassy for Avalonia set in the Rakath Mountains, do you permit me to locate this within your area? Lord Xyver
  22. Congrulations on a well deserved win. Your tower is amazing.
  23. I can only dream of making something this great. I really like the shutters on the left tower's top windows, a really nice touch and great for defence. I would love to see inside, even if it is empty.
  24. Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you all liked the doors, I am quite pleased with them myself. I'm not happy with the roof, those plates just don't look right, too flat for a roof. My original roof/attic was bigger, with the plates only showing 2 studs around, but the design didn't look right, it was more like a third level which I didn't want. I also didn't want the roof to be too high. I'll have another go at it, but I'm not sure I'll have enough slope pieces but I'll see what happens. And ZCerberus, you're right, those rocky walls don't work, but I didn't pay much attention to the back of the building after I put them in, I'll have to find something else to use there as I'm all out of the 2x2 round pieces that the rest of the ground floor is built from. I will also have a go at the interior of the shop, I'll use that for display of furniture I think. I'll have to research how best to make some first though.
  25. Blockburn, Fuchal is a shire located in the countryside at the southeast corner of Avalonia. Local materials are wood and a variety of stone, but you can build with anything you want and you are more than welcome. Xyver
