What a wonderful review. I had this set when I was a child and still own it. Unfortunately its no longer in the prime of its life. To see a MISB copy brings back so many happy memories. This was one of my favourite Blue Coat seats. I always regarded it as the pirate equivalent to the Guarded Inn.

I think this is an absolutely wonderful design. I'm usually quite particular about which projects I support on Cuusoo, but I had no hesitation in voting for this. I really enjoyed the Fury class Interceptor model released earlier this summer and this would make an ideal companion set. What I like so much about this is not only how well you have recreated the Corellian Defender but how much it actually looks like a Lego set. Unlike many Cuusoo projects I think this could be turned into a set with little difficulty. I will be keeping an eye on this and sincerely hope you get to 10,000 votes.

Fantastic news for train fans. This is an absolute must buy for me. The standard of Lego trains in recent times has been superb with the Emerald Night and the Maersk, and this high speed train just continues the quality. I love the colour scheme, I love the design, frankly I love everything about this and can't wait till January for its release. I think its also important to mention the price, £80 for 1,351 pieces is an absolute bargain. The price of new sets often raises eyebrows due to the steep cost, its nice for once to be surprised at just how cheap this set is.

Thanks for this brilliant review. This set has received a somewhat lukewarm reception but I don't think its as bad as people make it out to be. Its a reasonably accurate representation of the source material. If the design of the ship is a little uninspiring, then surely we should blame Lucas rather than Lego? I'm not a huge fan of the opening interior, I didn't care it in the 6211 Star Destroyer or the Venator but its hardly a deal breaker. I agree that the mini-figure selection is a little uninspiring, but I'd like to get this set at some point in the future.

Great review but I can't help but feel the score is on the generous side. This doesn't really feel like a twenty $/£ set. The main attraction is the mini-figures, especially the geonosians, which are a drastic improvement over the previous iterations. I've seen it on sale for close to half price, which is a much better deal.

Thanks for the brilliant review Brickdoctor! If ever a set deserved the reviewers academy treatment, it is this one. For me this is the best Kingdoms set. It is the biggest, most intricately designed and has the best selection of mini-figures. The only real disappointment was that despite the modularity, it doesn't link as well with the Kingdoms Castle as I would have liked, due to the different wall designs. It is still a wonder set though, the tower is among the most imposing and impressive castle structures I have seen. I'm also pleased that you didn't try to compare it to the MMV, a common practice, presumably because they are both direct to customer sets. I always feel such a comparison is redundant, because as you point out they are both so different. Lets just appreciate having two excellent exclusive castle sets

Picked up a 9500 Sith Fury Class Interceptor. Despite the high price, its a wonderful set. One of the most well designed Lego ships in years and great fun to build.

Some interesting sets there. I wonder what the Old Republic battlepack will entail? The Z-95 would be a welcome addition, I've always been fond of the design and hoped that Lego would do their own version. I'll probably pass on the A-Wing unless its advanced significantly from the 2005 iteration.

Thanks for this great review of Palpatine's Arrest. I'm unsure about the set. The figs as expected are amazing but the rest of the set leaves me a little cold and struggles to justify the relatively high price tag. The ship is small and there really isn't much to it. Palaptine's office looks authentic enough but I find it difficult to get excited about. On the surface, its a decent enough set but one I'll probably pass on. I confess that this may be due to my own prejudices, I've always preferred ships and vehicles to diorama's.

Lego Star Wars 4501 - Mos Eisley Cantina Review
Brinstar replied to BrickShady's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Fantastic first review. Great pictures and really good use of humor. As to the set itself, I'm less favorable. I do own this but I'm planning a clear out of some of my older Star Wars sets to fund other purchases and this is pretty much top of the list to go. The Greedo figure is great and the land-speeder is nice but the newer one in 8092 is better and has a more accurate color scheme. The small booth recreating the scene between Han and Greedo can hardly be described as a 'cantina'. I never really cared for the Dewback, it just felt like a big lump of plastic to me. With the recent release of Jabba's Palace, I for one hope Lego return again to Tatooine and give us a fully fleshed out cantina. -
Brilliant work! I'm not usually a fan of the micro scale but in the context of recreating Minas Tirith, its probably the best way to attempt a Lego version. This looks absolutely fantastic, so easily recognisable and I can't begin to imagine how difficult it would be to gain this level of accuracy.

Fantastic MOC's, impressive detail and very faithful to the original source material. The caterpillar tracks are particularly impressive. I haven't seen too many WW2 MOC's around these parts recently, so your MOC's are particularly welcome.

My mistake. Having read the official Lego shop description I can see that now. I'm not a particular fan of LOTR so please excuse my ignorance on this issue. My original point remains valid, the Dwarf Mine rocks!

REVIEW: LEGO Star Wars 9496 – Desert Skiff
Brinstar replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Great review! Definitely one of the picks of the latest SW wave in my opinion. The Boba Fett and Lando figures are the standouts and to have them in an affordable set is a nice bonus. The Skiff itself is also an improvement over the previous iteration. The sarlaac is probably the weakest part of the set but easy to overlook given how good the rest of it is. -
What're your favorite and least favorite Star Wars minifigures?
Brinstar replied to Darthking623's topic in LEGO Star Wars
It has to be Queen Amidala from the latest Gungan sub model. Lego will need to go some way to top that. -
The Sun / News of the World Promotion
Brinstar replied to Duke of wellington's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
You buy the newspaper and you get a free polybag. Its generally only one polybag per purchase regardless of how many newspapers you buy, although it can depend on what store and which sales assistant you get. I've heard of some people walking away with several. Be sure to get there early in the morning though, these tend to be snapped up quickly and for an army builder you bet these will be sought after! -
While everyone else goes mad over LOTR I continue my efforts to acquire fantasy era sets that I missed out on between 2007-9. This time I got a misb copy of probably my most wanted set from that series, 7036 Dwarves Mine. I probably paid a little more than I would have liked but it was worth it to get a sealed copy, which are few and far between nowadays. Having built the set this morning I definitely haven't been disappointed. Its a wonderful model with lots of little details and features, for a set that originally retailed £40, it has a lot going on with the mine cart, catapult and crane. The Dwarf figures are are also outstanding and some of my favorite castle figures. Until the arrival of the Orc Forge it was the only castle themed mine and in my opinion is a vastly superior model to the LOTR set. In short, very happy with the purchase and the fantasy era is rapidly supplanting Kingdoms as my favorite Castle subtheme

Item purchased from eBay - am I being unreasonable?
Brinstar replied to cunningfox99's topic in LEGO Pirates
You are not being unreasonable at all. I bet you paid a fair amount for that set and entitled to expect it exactly as described. I get tired of ebay sellers who don't describe their items accurately, I've had more than one experience of a set arriving with pieces missing or not in the condition described. You are entitled to a partial refund to the value of the items missing or damaged. -
Nice work! I've always been a believer of the old adage that if it isn't broke then don't fix it. Since the BSB is probably my favourite Lego sailing ship, I don't really think it needs a lot of modding. The chandalier in the cabin is absolutely beautiful and looks fantastic when lit. I'm less convinced about the windows, I would question whether they are better than the originals but perhaps they show your lighting effect more impressively.

Which Hobbit set are you most looking forward to?
Brinstar replied to Ferrik's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
At the moment it has to be Bag End by default as its the only set we've seen. I was very impressed by the design and will definitely buy it when released. I'm hoping the other hobbit sets live up the standard set by Bag End. -
Along with the Trolls Mountain fortress its a set I'm very keen to get my hands on. It seems to be quite rare though, trying to find one at a reasonable price is proving problematic.
-
Nice buy, I'd love to get that one to go with my 6086 Black Knights Castle. I haven't been able to find one in a sufficiently good condition for a price I'm willing to pay. I've just picked up a 7038 Troll Assault Wagon from bricklink. A nice inexpensive little set that will hopefully complement my troll warship and troll siege tower from 7037 tower raid very nicely.
-
It happen's I'm afraid but I wouldn't let one bad experience put you off. The overwhelming majority of sellers on bricklink are honest and knowledgeable about the product they are selling. I find ebay to be a bit of a lottery. I've scored some great deals but also some disappointments with used sets not accurately described.
-
Really nice MOC, I'm not usually a fan of the mini scale but I just love all the intricate little details you have included. The palace and the church really stand out for me as excellent little models.

Look what I just got - Report your latest Pirate LEGO acquisitions
Brinstar replied to V()()D()()'s topic in LEGO Pirates
Sounds like you got a great deal. I'm still searching for this one but as you say bricklink prices are very expensive. Definitely a nice ship to start your pirate ship collection.
