Designed by William Barton-Wright in the 1870s for the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway, the Class 25 locomotives were nicknamed "Ironclads" after the battleships of the time. While they had a long career that spanned through the LMS years into the British Railways era, only one is preserved today. This model is 7-wide and powered by a 9V motor in the tender. The lights (the only non-purist parts) are wired to the motor and come on automatically when running. I wanted to try my hand at brick-built lettering so I chose the LMS livery. While the tender is not quite accurate to the originals, the L&YR and its successors had a habit of re-using whatever tenders they had to spare, so it could possibly be a realistic configuration. The wheelbase is a bit too short for my liking, but I had to keep it compatible with R40 curves.

Great work on your namesake! The smoke deflectors and the details at the back of the tender are a nice touch.

Another update: I'm happy to report that this model with a heavily modified base just won a local MOC contest! I've never had enough confidence in my builds to enter one into any contests before, so that was a nice surprise!

This thread includes a MOC by @Oky that uses the Pepper's Ghost technique to create a very impressive illusion of a ghost. On a simpler note, my churchyard MOC includes a mausoleum with a skeleton that pops out when you lift the roof. If you wanted to include motorization, you could have some ghosts or a witch on a broomstick circling above the haunted house.
