You can do that, you’ll pay a 15% tariff and a brokerage fee to whoever ships it (in essence you’re paying them to pay the tariff) UPS is charging $20-$60 depending on, well, it’s not clear, because they’re not transparent about it. Maybe that will change in January. Maybe not until 2029. Hard to say. But for now, that will eat any savings.

On sale or discounted? It will most likely be available from the websites of Best Buy, Barnes and Noble, and Target for a while (but probably not for its entire lifespan), plus regional department stores like Scheels will probably stock it. The 1:8 cars rarely go on discount here. The Sian had a few discounts near the end, I haven’t seen the Ferrari on discount recently at all despite its looming (and now final) retirement. I bought both the Sian from a liquidator and the P1 from an importer and paid about $280 each, those deals take a LOT of legwork to find. Meanwhile in Europe it will be 20-30% off by October 😭

In the US and Canada, the blue one was a Costco exclusive, available only at Lego or Costco. They’ve done the exclusive recolor thing here a few times, the Jesko recolor was exclusive to Barnes and Noble, the Huracan recolor was initially exclusive to Costco (but opened up later), and the Green Bugatti seems to be currently only at Scheels here.

In Lego’s own marketing video you can see a ton of not-technic stuff, from the wheels to the shifter to the seat. It’s pretty obviously not 100% technic. In any case I don’t know why it’s not okay for a Lego ambassador to go to a Lego ambassador event and report what they saw with disclosures. The car websites who just copy pasted the press release into an article are the ones who actually got taken for a ride here. I'm sure non-LAN folks like Brick Building Dad or Clever Pig will have a review up in a few weeks and as a bonus compare it to the CaDA AMG GT3. Feel free to watch those.

Technic owns the #4, 5, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 19, and 24 spots on Rebrickable’s most owned sets list - it’s not niche. the issue with BDP now is there’s 500 submissions so you make a vote on a set in 3-10 seconds. A car that looks at a glance like something Lego already sells will suffer in that world. I think if someone submitted something with the visual impact of 42055 or 42009 it would have a good chance.
