I'm more curious as to how/why you're familiar with this....
-
Me too! I originally thought that the C3-P0 in the Pod set was cast in the Prince of Persia nougat color...I think it would be an interesting way to portray him as being dirty...

I would really like the Flying Dutchman set, if it weren't for the figure himself. It just looks off to me, but I think it's nice that he has a satchel in sand green. Lego missed the perfect opportunity to use a few glow in the dark pieces (even as accents like in Diagon Alley), which would probably made this set a must buy for many people. The party set would have been 10x better if it had Patrick's house instead of Spongebob's and was an add-on to the most recent Pineapple set, which probably would have kept selling. I love the party versions of the characters and the fact that Mrs. Puff is in this set.

Hot damn! All of these sets look FANTASTIC. In my opinion, this year sets were kinda "meh" for me and the only ones I bought were the battle packs and V-Wing. Now I see this lineup and I want to buy every single set. All of the designs and figures are completely fresh, no hint of any staleness that may have been present in recent years. I know people say this every year, but 2012 is definitely one of the highlights for Star Wars Lego, between these pictures, the planet sets and the rumored summer list. This poor art student just got poorer. -Derek

I've been trying to read this thread for news and discussion, but all of it has been lost among this immensely irritating R2/X-Wing rant. It's a toy based on a fictional franchise. Let it go.

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
Derek replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
Davy Jones looks amazing, I just wish Bootstrap was a little more colorful (green)... -
*cough* Look at the new molded brick along the bottom of the police/ranger station!

These sets look great! I love the new pieces as well as the pieces in new colors! I probably won't buy many of these sets, but I definitely have my eye on that Cafe... I think it's possible that these hairpieces will fit on normal figures...if you look at the male in the house set, he has the generic "tousled hair" that has been seen in every theme...And if you look in the Beauty Salon, you can see one of the new hairpieces being modeled on a white minifig head... -Derek

Lego-Freak, your Slughorn looks like an official figure! Perfect! I really hope we get him if we do get more sets.

I was wondering how they would do a modular gas station, but then I had the idea that they could have a one story corner building on a 32x48 plate and have a convenience store, gas pumps and car wash. I think it would be a cool way for them to add variety to the line, in both style and price (it could sell for $75-100). -Derek

I don't understand how that "proves" anything...There was a Star Wars dictionary and I'm fairly certain that SW is a line that will go on indefinitely. I'm split on whether or not we will get anymore HP sets. Part of me doesn't see why there wouldn't be and the other doesn't want to get his hopes up... -Derek

I don't know about that... But Mattel has been releasing die-cast Cars toys since the first movie was released in 2006, in addition to dozens of other toys. I do think that there is a market for more Cars sets, you just have to look beyond the typical Lego license model to see it... -Derek

Very simple, yet beautiful. Nice work! -Derek

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6 Discussion
Derek replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Hot. Damn. If these are real, I think I have a new favorite series. -Derek -
That's all I have to say about that...
-
There's no indication they won't be...Lego has been throwing us a ton of surprises over the past few years, one being this line and another being Collectable Figures. I wouldn't be surprised by a concept that would combine both... If these are sold separately, I can easily see upwards of $5 USD per figure... -Derek
-
Agreed. If PotC isn't selling well, then there is DEFINITELY no chance of a Tolkein line making it. (However, I know in 5 years people will still be hoping for one... )

MOC: Townhouse Trio - Butcher, Barber, and Laundromat
Derek replied to sonicstarlight's topic in LEGO Town
Amazing work. The Burrow is one of my all-time favorite sets and you have done a fantastic job converting it into a modular...My favorite interior details out of all of them has to be the laundromat Love your creativity! -Derek -
That awkward moment when the preliminary Iron Man figure looks like a Pez dispenser.

I don't get why the new Hoth Base got such heavy criticism, sure, it's not 100% accurate: nothing in Lego is. I think it is a cool playset that has some nice figures. I would buy it if I had more room in my budget. Anyone else notice the building mistake on the right side of the bridge/walkway on the official high-res pic? -Derek
-
I think that this set is a good representation of the castle from the final movie...There were quite a few scenes on a bridge that resembled the one in the set. I think the figures are an accurate representation as well, but I could see Trelawny or Slughorn being included in addition to or instead of some of these figures. At first, I thought this set was a bit bland, but I wanted it because I don't have the larger castle set. I bought this and was pleasantly surprised by the detail, size and features. The figures are fantastic as well (I was a little annoyed by Lucius, but I used the Death Eater face and hood on him. -Derek

Part II was everything I could ask for and more. A perfect ending. While I was on the Harry Potter mini-site on Lego.com, I saw this description for the Forbidden Forest Set and thought it was pretty funny. -Derek
-
I too would love to see the Lovegood House...It could be around the same price or somewhat cheaper than the Burrow. Figures would obviously include Xeno and Luna, but also Hermione, Ron and Harry and a couple of Death Eaters. There could even be an exploding feature, like PotC's Whitecap Bay, for playability. Lego- Please don't leave Harry Potter. There are soo many more possibilities with the series... -Derek

"Let's Finish This the Way it Started.... Together"
Derek replied to Infomaniac's topic in LEGO Licensed
Nice job of recreating that! However, I am a little weary about that scene in the film, because it wasn't in the books and looks like it might be a little corny. But, I did like the Burrow attack scene in HBP that everyone got mad about, so we'll see... -Derek (PS- Infomaniac- Will I see you at the midnight premiere tonight? I'm going as a Death Eater, terrifying mask and all...)
