  1. Where are you seeing arm printing on Iron Spider? All the images I can find have don’t have that detail on Spidey. And to think we could’ve had a Mark 6 bust instead—but no, we needed an excuse to make a near-useless Iron Man print. The renders do make it look especially bad, with the shadows hitting in that crevasse above the brow. However, the lifestyle pictures make the helmet look not as terrible. I’m interested in seeing in-hand reviews before I make my personal judgement final. Agreed. A bust feels less awkward than having the severed head of Spider-Man or Venom on display, not to mention it gives us more range for displaying certain versions of characters. A generic Spider-Man mask can work for most comic or MCU appearances, but now we can specify whether it’s the NWH or the Homecoming suit. Same is true with Batman—unironically I can wait for the inevitable Dark Knight suit. The price tag is still hard to swallow no matter which way you shake it. Ironically, I’m sure the designers will point to the inclusion of a minifigure as the reason for each being so overpriced. It’s partially true, but for myself I’d like to see better. I own the LEGO Lunar Lander from 2019, so I guess with that lunar surface I already have a LEGO Doomsday set!
  2. Impressed by the figures of the U-Wing, especially Cassian. More and more I’m further enticed to buy the Rebel fighter. They were on LegoStarWarsLeaks a couple minutes before LegoLeaks. Looks like an example of forced perspective to me, although more than likely it’s just a way to keep the ships recognizable. Either way, it’s something you won’t see as much if at all, and thus not a main selling point. Syril wanted to show up in at least one set with his love. Andor S1, E2 A bridge could use LEGO City road plates, so I guess it’s possible. Still, who in his right mind would buy 100 of a bridge to army build a random clone legion? (Besides MandR, of course.) If not a UT-AT, my guess is a Republic Acclamator or Frigate. Leakers might’ve seen a parts list containing dark red troopers and a couple large gray plates. They might’ve heard that someone had seen Galactic Marines being manufactured. They might’ve overheard a buddy mention to the local baker how excited the designer is about bringing Galactic Marines into LEGO form. It’s not just obscurity, but relevance coupled with price. The Quadjumper was released while the hype of TFA and the Sequels were at their strongest. It was also less than $50, not to mention included the two main characters of the film. Even despite all that, did the Quadjumper sell well at all? Let’s consider the Justifier, which was only a year late to release alongside its respective media, and only a few months out from loosely tying into TBB S2. It even featured a fanfavourite bounty hunter, the missing main character of TBB, and one of the main characters of Mando Season 2.5. Yet the $100+ price tag tanked any sales. The UT-AT apparently wasn’t pressing enough to produce in the year RotS released, nor within the two years following, nor even in the year it was set to rerelease in 3D. It hasn’t reappeared in anything from a saga film to an episode of TCW. The UT-AT is not any more relevant now than twenty years ago, it won’t even feature any main characters, and yet it receives an $100+ price tag. This set is (Dr.) doomed to burn. I agree, I couldn’t see any other build that ties into the Galactic Marines I’d rather replace the UT-AT—which brings into question if the time to make Galactic Marines has passed.
  3. I really wanted to like the Iron Man bust. Some of the part choices are brilliant, but they also make the proportions out of wack. The mouth is both too tall and also too thin, meanwhile the dark red 2x2 on his forehead is way too wide. Upscaling the helmet might’ve improved the look overall, but then you make the bust even more expensive. Iron Spider looks solid—really solid. Not my absolute favourite suit, and the figure still disappoints, but the shaping and detail is well executed. It’s a shame about the price of both, though. I can see how the $60 price tag was justified, but it does make both fall out of my zone of interest.
  4. Doctor Doom, Avengers, the FF, X-Men, maybe even GotG, vs sweet, sweet Baby Yoda? You’re right, it’s no contest. Someone remind me whenever we get a new Dr. Doom to change my profile picture to Grogu crushing Doom’s iron mask. There is a precedent in both cases; Avengers has always had the first weekend of May (why, 2012’s Avengers released May the 4th that year—the only non-SW film that could deserve that release date), and the first SW trilogy released in the third week of May. However, we saw how this worked out for Solo so I do have a bad feeling about this. Yes, it was a joke, moreso about Disney than the TLG; not seeing Ben Grimm shirtless so far in FF trailers combined with Disney’s overall sentiment around Slave Leia. Still, TLG doesn’t want to upset their biggest IP partner. (They are okay with City figs showing yellow plastic, but have shown caution for licensed figs.) Maybe TLG will base the figure off concept art showing him shirtless, but I wouldn’t be too surprised if they opted to save money on a reused torso than a separate one. (Ben and Sue do have practically the same design as far as the translation to a LEGO minifig torso.)
  5. No way is Doomsday releasing May 1st exactly… *one Google search later* Good Greef Karga, it does premiere May 1st exactly! That’s crazy, especially considering a SW movie could and should have the May the 4th weekend that year. I’m thinking that the missing set numbers were reserved for another film—perhaps Beyond the Spider-Verse, which is now slated for June 2027. (This movie better be beyond amazing for how long they’re making us wait…) Another option, albeit unlikely, is that those are all the DC sets next year. Of course, we’re way too early to tell. Here’s the Thing about a Thingless shirt a shirtless Thing. It won’t happen with TLG in 2025, where, if you’re lucky to get Slave Huttslayer Leia at all, they stick her in swim trunks. (Actually, I’ve got a hot take on Leia having dual-molded legs, but I’ve digressed already.) That being said, I’d love some comic-adjacent figures, particularly for Thing and Human Torch. Even for the rest of the foursome, the movie costumes aren’t too far off from the vibe of the 70s comics, so to me it’s the best possible scenario for a toy company adverse to comic-accurate designs.
  6. I’m thinking it’s an incomplete list. Yes, it’s not exclusively January 1st, but don’t we usually get May set numbers separate from January numbers? Past doesn’t dictate future, but it gives me some hope. In any event, whichever sets get dated to April or May will undoubtedly be the ones for Doomsday. I hope for 5 or 6 sets, which includes the 18+ so long as that set doesn’t go to another Batmobile. In other news, we got confirmation that the first CMF in 2026 will be $5–theoretically, that should mean the Sony Spider-Verse CMF is $5 as well. Glad to know I was wrong (I hope).
  7. Christmas AT-AT sounds fun, just not as fun as a Gingerbread TIE. I’d love a Santa Vader minifig like somebody else had mentioned. Wait, so the GwP is a TIE Fighter? A TIE FIGHTER? Not the trench run? Not an additional scene relating to but not on the Death Star? Not even a lightsaber? The designers heard our pleas for something minifig-scale from the OT, and they decide to make the most cookie cutter, still on store shelves, vehicle? We truly live in a society.
  8. Pretty sure it’s just the combination of the lighting with the head-on angle. U-Wing looks fantastic. The X-Wing canopy looks better scaled than on the 2016 model. Still, it’s a shame it’s even smaller, but for what it is it’s good. The one and only set out of this wave I’ll definitely pick up (unless Kylo’s helmet blows me away). Jango’s helmet looks like an amalgamation of components from previous helmets. While it looks alright, it’s design doesn’t seem to be innovative. Chopper is okay. I do find his eyes are a tough too small, but at that scale there’s not any other options. Star Wars logo? Eh.
  9. Erm, actually, Thunderbolts* has been confirmed to be rated PG-13. Obviously, the Void has some crazy dark powers, so I understand if the rating was thought to be different initially. After all, the last time TLG trusted Marvel Studios on a rating, we got a TV-MA CMF.
  10. Alright, here we go with my few upgraded LSW minifigs. Up first, the Mandalorian: I’ve been upgrading Mando slowly but surely for the past four years, and now I believe I’ve achieved perfection. Of course, I’m using all the official updates: the cape from 2021 under the jetpack from later that year, the Pedro head from 2022, and the amazing new helmet print from 2023. The final and most recent change I made was taking a Sharpie to a pair of Tusken raider hands in order to capture the orange-tipped gloves Mando uses. It’s not the best job, but I’m very pleased with the results. Next, Captain Rex: The official P2 Rex minifig from the microfighter is great already, and I hadn’t planned on upgrading the figure at first. However, combining it with some spare CaC elements I had on hand makes him look amazing. The waist cape is a must, and helps Rex stand out. The helmet looks a lot better with the shorter range finder, not to mention black contrasts better than DBG, I feel. The custom blasters are the least necessary, but they do help enhance the figure all the more. The second figure is based off his Rebels appearance, using a custom torso from Republic Bricks and Sharpie-ing in the abdomen. For the arms, I only had arms in noughat from Jasmine from the Disney CMF S2. To cover the printing from the original figure, I cut out some sticker paper and used a blue ink pen to make a crude representation of Rex’s shoulder armor. Lastly, the ultimate Legends power-couple: Mara Jade was one of my first SW customs, made before I even read the Legends Thrawn trilogy. Originally I used the Inferno squad torso and legs (first picture), along with a satchel for extra, if not extraneous detail. However, I also grew to appreciate Inferno Squad and began regretting using that torso. Now I use the 2022 Catwoman torso and 2016 Death Star gunner legs (second picture), even though the belt buckle looks too real-world (not to mention zippers! Paul would be displeased). Then there was Luke, who is based off his HttE comic appearance (although I prefer to keep the black glove, thank you). He uses a flipped-around DS Gunner torso, and the hips and right leg from the 2013 elite police from LEGO City. Enjoy. :)
  11. Trunk looks slightly shorter than it should be, but that’s probably because of the angle on the back of the box. I believe we have a winner on our hands! Great looking model.
  12. 2 inches wider than the 2015 model too; unclear if the height difference is due to the angle of the stand or not. Agreed that the base looks excellent. The use of a pair angled curved slopes of the “trunk” throws off the continuous, rounded angle of the original model.
  13. Yeah, I haven’t gotten into that much DC content. For films, it’s come down to convenience of availability, although I do look forward to seeing Superman later this year and using it as a spring-board into DC on film. For games, I only have/need a Switch, and the only LEGO DC game is LDCSV. (Playing Jedi Knight Academy and dying over and over again has scared me off non-LEGO games, lol.) For comics… I didn’t have the chance to grow up on them, and I’m not too keen to jump into them beyond the Silver Age comics. I was invited ordered to join the Aslume, and I stayed for the LEGO Omniverse lore. I only jump in on DC discussions when I think I know of which I speak—at least I know Martian Manhunter from Marvin the Martian. We both know the best we’d get these days would be a buildable disrobed Qumir. Yeah, that way there’s less consonants to break it up. I also don’t think the word “Commander” ever crossed my mind until I was much older. Oh my word—here I thought LotR would be a hard read. I’m gonna stay as far away from that mess as possible.
  14. As always, thank you/you’re welcome. I do what I can… when I eventually feel up to it, lol. This discussion goes right back to the debate over the state of the MCU in the Marvel thread, and brings up why I didn’t really want to argue in either: one too many people here dogpiling on anything and everything I like. I just don’t feel motivated to defend my favourites against a whole lot of logical and illogical jargon. Maybe that’s the sign that SW has fallen out of favour: that the haters have more passion than the lovers. I’m an OT fan first and foremost; the original films are brilliant and my personal favourite films out of any franchise. Doesn’t mean I can’t find a similar level of enjoyment, or at least appreciation from other aspects of Star Wars. I can find things to appreciate about mostly every other SW—I’ll even credit Acolyte for… uh… maybe kyber-bleeding but it wasn’t exactly as dramatic as it could’ve been. Not every project is going to speak to me, but we aren’t talking about cheaply-funded fan films. Any SW movie or TV show is still leagues better than the average sci-fi show (and most of Star Trek… no basis for that claim, just wanted to dig at the Trekkies), whether it’s in the writing, or acting, or set design, or costumes, or ships and props, or just the music. SW is still the premier franchise, even if not every aspect hits at the moment. We’re picking apart the best of the best from the less best of the best. (Except the Holiday Special… but hey we always got that Boba cartoon stuck in there.) Word to most of the above. (I disagree on TRoS, and I’m still surprised how well-liked Kenobi is, but as you say, it’s all subjective.) There’s objective bad and good, and then there’s subjective takes. I think most of us here have a good grasp of what makes a strong story and what doesn’t, so ultimately most of the debates here are going to be based on preference. Acolyte didn’t connect with me or a lot of people, but it connected with a lot of other people, and neither can be denied. The key is good creative direction. Give the Tony Gilroy crew a redundant tale of Imperial oppression, and you get Andor. Give Lesyle Headland an exciting premise of the High Republic from the Sith’s perspective, and you get Acolyte. Give Kresh’ and Kasdan a story premised around the good guys failing spectacularly, and you get Empire Strikes Back. Jon Faverau has never failed to deliver a quality movie experience in my eyes; I have faith that M&G will be no different. KK was reportedly handpicked because she didn’t know much about SW. George’s scheme rested on her not being confident in her knowledge of SW and going to George as an adviser. Basically George wanted to outstep the media and fan limelight while still holding the reigns. Of course, he underestimated KK and Bob Iger’s egos, and the rest was history. As for Filoni… Overall creative and director, yes. I don’t think he was much of a seasoned script writer, though, which is evident when you go from Jon Faverau’s work on Chapter 12 of Mando to Dave Filoni’s Chapter 13. He seems more likely to have been handheld into hierarchy than having worked his way to that position. Why bother? Anyone can criticize anything to death. Anyone can say, “Yo man, this is hot garbage,” and look cool and get the crowd to agree with them. I personally grow tired of those kinds of people. To each his own, and I’m glad you find enjoyment out of other parts of SW of which I remain blissfully ignorant. Let someone less apathetic fight you if they wish. Yeah, probably… except Rebels released before S7, and for a while was CW fans’ only indication what happened to their favourite characters. The creatives’ hands were tied when TCW was cancelled. I don’t have a preference either way. Down-scaling does make SW ships more affordable, but at the cost of certain onscreen details. I can live with it, just as soon as I modify those sets to my preferred level of accuracy. At the end of the day, though, LEGO sets are just that: sets of build blocks. What happens afterward is up to me.
  15. Happy to see my choice in the vote won, and I’m grateful TLG ended up picking two. My guess is that the vote counts for teal and pearl gold were too close that they decided to please the majority overall. After all, almost no one brought up lime, dark pink, or bright light blue. I cautiously anticipate the devastating price tag.
  16. Oh… yes, better not say this name. Better not say his name at all. Better not say his name three times. To be fair, my only exposure to Arkham has been the LEGO DC Supervillains game, and all I remember from there is the prison standing on the edge of a ovalish ground over a cliff. I know you’d do better, senator. *visible happiness* His first name is Police Leader, though. I really shouldn’t expect anyone to remember yet I feel compelled to complain nonetheless. What was that about insanity being one of the greatest motivations again? Anyway, you’re all good, just laugh at my insanity and move along. Seeing the name of my favourite villain next to the name of a my least favourite Disney Villain story jumpscared me. Chill bro, ice puns are cool. Maybe. The difference is that most people in the SW galaxy can’t just move to the Ascendancy that easily, so the infatuated fascination makes more sense, in my opinion. Are you implying we have a planned out arc? This isn’t Bionicle, this is the DCEU, and we always leave things unfinished and rushed. Then they watch true-crime documentaries over late-night cereal. Syril always tries to guess the culprit, always incorrectly so, and falls head over heels for any female investigator onscreen, all to Dedra’s annoyance. All of these are very wholesome and acceptable things to do, right? Might improve the landscape, actually. Green is too pretty and natural; purple adds a vibe to the dance floor, you know what I mean? Officially, it can’t be Turtle, otherwise he would get banned (again). Unofficially speaking, it sounds so much like him for him not to be Turtle. The fact he randomly shows up here randomly is another point toward that theory. Just don’t get him banned again; he’s the hero we need, even if he isn’t the one we deserve.
  17. Hello there! Casual Transformers enjoyer here, randomly popping in to ask: What is the census for a hypothetical LEGO Transformers CMF? I feel like the Autobots/Decepticons would translate really well into minifig form, and could allow for certain fanfavourites to be made, so long as their vehicle-versions . (WE WANT MEGATRON!) Obviously it would potentially cut into Hasbro’s sales. Still, it’s not impossible, right? Also, just watched Transformers One and had a blast at that, and I’m itching to build a MOC of Megatron in G1 form. like Hachiroku24 built for Optimus. At this point I’d settle for a Brickheadz, lol. Any tips or recommendations?
  18. That’s the problem with making a product too niche. You may generate sales at the start, and may hook people into being familiarized with LEGO, but you lose the average folk. I believe the assumption TLG is banking on is if they can tap enough people into the fold, and entice them with other niche products in order to sustain them. We watching a toy company reinvent their brand into an adult collector’s market, and it dissapoints me. They may try to position themselves that way, but I believe the cutbacks in quality and the increase of prices are the true reason they still grew in revenue. Hot Toys seemingly haven’t done that, although I wouldn’t know anyway. Of course, if they really are trying to fix the numbers like they seem to be, that might mean their push into the adult market has been unsuccessful so far. TLG might make a few fans with a Twilight house here and a Titanic set there, but continuing to upset and ignore their core fans, the loyal AFoLs, the foundation of their profits, will only end in a crumbled structure once those fans dissipate. If TLG truly has become a monopoly in the plastic-construction market, then we know that they only last so long before they are disrupted by competition or the courts. For LSW fans, though, no other company owns the SW IP, so TLG holds the power to raise prices however high they wish. However, they would be foolish to go further than we allow them to go. Keep voting with your wallets, people. “Careful, you’re going off-topic.” Chancellor, going off-topic is my specialty. (Sorry.) Would you deny the story of George showing the original cut of Star Wars, one without the John Williams music and two Luke Skywalker-led trench runs, to a couple of his friends, and only Spielberg, a close friend of George, being the only one to see the vision that would only be realized after multiple editing decisions? Would you deny the multiple writers credited for both Empire and Jedi? (No, I’m not speaking of Leigh Brackett’s minute impact on Ep. V, but a second opinion is a second opinion.) Would you deny the sheer lack of additional writers for the Prequels, aside from Johnathan Hales, a television writer for Young Indy Chronicles who, according to Rick McCallum, was one of many at Lucasfilm on Young Indy that worshipped George? You can’t deny that the Prequels are less well-received, and objectively-speaking worse films than the Originals. That comes from a lot of factors, poor directing, unrealistic dialogue, passive acting (however intentional or not, yes), and static blue screens included, but a lack of criticism and pushback surrounding him could’ve helped all of that. George hated working with people “who didn’t get his vision,” (to paraphrase,) he’s very protective over his characters and world, and so he naturally winds up with a lot of yes-men. He’s Anakin in every metaphorical sense, who sells his soul and burns his relationships to build an empire where he rules with absolute power. As for the wider discussion on “playing it safe,” it differs from film to film, franchise to franchise. The overall goal is to build upon the original ideas and tenets, never to destroy or mock. TFA does this, literally so with the idea of another DS, takes into account the emotional impact of losing the father figure as well as fighting the one who killed said father, and combines all of that. It’s the ultimate amalgamation of Star Wars up until that point, while keeping a freshness thanks in no small part to the fresh-eyed actors on camera. Compare this to Last Jedi, who literally wanted to throw away the legacy of SW fanaticism in an attempt to return to the core roots of SW… without recognizing what the core roots of SW are. (To start with, the Balance of the Force according to George is vastly different than Rian’s interpretation.) For TM&G, at this point it seems it’ll be rehashing plot beats from TCW movie and Mando, features the same cast and not much change in scenery. How it may innovate and how it may become a hit with audiences, fans of Mando already or not, will be up to how the original creative can stick to the original theme of the original successful series yet reinterpreting them, not outright remaking those elements.
  19. This, this is beautiful… I’ve been staring at it for ten hours trying to compose my thoughts. It’s incredible to see how far we’ve come. We’re changing the society (we truly live in), one EB thread at a time. Insanity is in the top 3 most powerful compulsions… I think love and money are the other two, but both the website and cookies are free, and all the love I see his @THELEGOBATMAN and Dedra. Haha, Turtle has orange juice to go with his cookies. Nice. Who is the Asgardian-looking fellow in the tree with I’m assuming Adam West? Loving the holographic table (because I narcissistically like seeing myself, lol)—and you included a generic police officer to represent my childhood obsession with LEGO police that coincidentally is the exact same as the original minifig that inspired it all for me! XD Given that you seem to be in a relaxed pose (as any designer of a MOC should do with his character), that means it would be me versus @CloneCommando99, aka Chiss Fanboy #1… I don’t expect to win in any case. So Dummy’s arrival was the sneak-peek you showed! I got to be honest, I thought you had constructed a microbuild GwP representing the immates escaping the Aslume (with colourful flames… because raisins). It makes a lot more sense now. Technically I should be in the Ice Lounge with @Agent Kallus and @Murdoch17. After all, I made snow many puns… The last build is very wholesome—well, as wholesome as any relationship with an intelligence officer working for a dictatorial regime can be. Always enjoy seeing your MOCs. Keep up the great work!
  20. I would have to agree. Trans-neon orange but no trans-neon yellow? You are sure to upset M:Tron corporate with this action and risk legal action… oh, and Blacktron II might also declare on you personally and your planet. (A planet which coincidentally happens to be the same as where the LEGO House resides. So, if Blacktron II come for you, just try and knock three birds with one stone by telling them you live there. By the time the dust clears, the Meca of LEGO influencers will be in ruins, Blacktron II, our fiercest merch competitor, will be destroyed, [LONG LIVE BLA— I heart M:Tron] and, uh… I guess the third benefit is that you still live.) Anyway, on a serious note, love the concept of your MOC, and appreciate the cheese slope inclusion. Can’t wait to see the—let me check my notes—“Soup-Simmered-On-A-Medium-Heat Gala when it’s finished.
  21. Strike that; the original rumor by lego_minecraft_goat mentioned two Galactic Marines. So that is a possibility. We’ll see.
  22. If it turns out it wasn’t a UT-AT after all this time, I might just flip over to the Clone bros side and wishlist to death UT-ATs of every size (MiFi, advent calendar, UCS, polybag, playset scale, downsized playset scale…). At this point, there will be people upset whichever way it goes. If the switch from a Death Star playset to a Star Destroyer riled feathers, I don’t want to imagine the outcome if the UT-AT rumor is false. The UT-AT is pretty distinct, though, so how could there be a mixup? The only things they could be mistaken for it in a picture leak would be the AT-OT, another AT-TE, or the Fondor? Not to mention that the UT-AT is too random of a leak to have been a bad call. If it was a parts list leak, I guess it’s plausible a wrong conclusion was made based on the Galactic Marines—if that rumor was true at all. Besides, the UT-AT rumor started before we heard of the inclusion of Galactic Marines, so that doesn’t line up. To summarize, the UT-AT has got to happen or something went drastically wrong here.
  23. My hope out of this news is that Richboyjhae comes back from hibernation to army-build for his Kamino MOC. Beyond that, my interest has improved by 5%, although that could just be the margin of error.
  24. I concur. Even as a man who loves to endlessly (and sometimes senselessly, lol) debate, I can’t bring myself to reply to any of these comments. No point when the other person is just as stubborn as I, lol. Nobody here is in charge at Marvel; there’s no point in being obtusely pessimistic when you can’t change anything. Even when X-Men are announced, the one group fans have been awaiting to join the MCU for decades now, people have to complain that they won’t be good enough… despite that we’re months away from seeing a single frame of this movie. If the Russos could pull off Infinity War (to varying success, but I digress) and Endgame (to outstanding success, but I digress) then I have no doubt they can pull off this movie. This is their battle they decided to pick; out of any of the multiverse, they chose to tackle these Avengers and these X-Men. (Edit: Rethought what I said. I’ll clarify that of course there’ll be apprehensions, and that’s well and good. However, to say that a movie won’t be good because of the studio producing it without seeing anything of the film is rash. Disney hasn’t made some great films recently, but people shouldn’t judge each upcoming film according to the abysmal failure of Snow White. People say Marvel Studios fails when they experiment with characters beyond the original cast; people say Marvel Studios will fail because they decide to play the guaranteed hits. Let the quality of the film speak for itself.) The lack of Hawkeye hurts, though—and where’s Wong anyway?
  25. They still have my main man Kuill locked behind $600; at least Krennic was available in a regular retail set under $200 USD, albeit way back in 2016. “With magnetic feet to secure them and a rapid fire nail gun, the modified construction AT-RTs were instrumental in the rapid completion of the second Death Star. Later on, they were utilized to great effect during the Battle of Endor to take down several Rebel cruisers by puncturing holes into their glass canopies, thus depressurizing the canopy and killing the crew in command.” - me just now Size of the nails? The size of a regular nail, I suppose (or, in Warsian terms, “the standard dimensions of nail produced naturally on Coruscant”). Hot Tub lounge would go crazier. The Minikit included in last year’s advent calendar gives me some hope toward that end.
