Hi, thanks LEGO Train 12 Volts. Unfortunately, this is just my test color. I'll eventually build it yellow like all my cars.
I wanted to share a quick update on my FIAT 124 Spider project.
Internal Structure & Chassis The good news is that the internal structure is now fully functional and stable. Getting the chassis right required a bit of trial and error, but the core skeleton is solid.
Wheel Clearance & Mudguards: During the design phase, I discovered that the mudguards I had initially identified were not compatible with the Speed Champions wheels, so I had to replace them to ensure proper clearance and smooth rolling.
Part Availability & Compatibility: Separately, to get the shapes right, I am currently using a few specific parts that are not available in the official LEGO catalog or color palette. Right now, my priority is geometric accuracy and structural integrity; once the design is finalized, I will decide whether to optimize the build for a 100% official LEGO-compatible part list or keep it as is.
Side Panels & Bodywork: The side panels have been raised by half a plate (4 LDU) and small side skirts have been added to improve the overall shaping.
Next Steps: Now that the internal framing works, the next phases will be:
Internal Optimization: Refining the chassis to reduce part count and improve structural efficiency.
Front and Rear Redesign: Reviewing the nose and the rear fascia to see where the shaping and detailing can be further improved to better capture the lines of the real car.
Feedback and suggestions are always welcome!
