5886 T-Rex Hunter Theme - DINO LXF here Missing decals. Missing prints for figs. Guns have been improvised. Not sure the correct name, but angled 4x2 plate not present in LDD and substituted. Colors may or may not be right. Let me know please as I'm not sure which colors to use sometimes. Review: 5885 Triceratops Trapper
Tontus replied to Masked Builder's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Another great review. Thanks! I just started building this myself about 15 minutes ago. I finished bag 1 and the Triceratops and already feel like I got my money's worth thanks to the TRU sale. I'm not crazy about the "rookie" minifig, but I guess he can be the equivalent of a Star Trek red shirt away mission guy. The other dude looks pretty cool and tough, but I do question the logic of carrying a screwdriver on his belly. Lean forward too much and he won't need to worry about 3 horns poking holes in him. On to bag 2 now. Thanks again. -
I'm torn. On one hand, that is really cool. On the other hand, I find it creepy as all hell.

My Most Depressing Lego-Related Day Ever...
Tontus replied to TheLonelySquireOfGothos's topic in General LEGO Discussion
In addition to the advice already given, be careful as you get closer to the bottom of the tub. What climbed in may not have found it's way back out. Poo is bad, decomposed remains are worse. -
I don't much care for the Falcon in that scale without decals/printed parts, but the Tantive IV is just about perfect. In fact, I wouldn't mind getting a parts list and building it in real.

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I can't wait to start army building trees. Now to figure out what to do with the extra troops. Oh wait a minute, I think I got that backwards....
-
If this does indeed come reality, I'll be dancing in the streets. Seriously, I'll have a hat to collect money because I will need another source of income to fund my army building addiction.

Funny you should bring this up. I'm waiting on paint to dry right now. Anyway, I had an idea a couple of days ago that ties into yours. How about a decal kit with custom software to design your own prints, precut decal sheets and "blank" minifigs. LEGO could also put out "refill" sets without the software, and maybe even in various themes.

I don't have much experience with sculpey, but boiling didn't work so good for me. Leaving it in my car in the middle of summer did though. Anyway, from my work with action figures, make sure the plastic does not touch the pot as that can cause melting. Use a ladel/strainer thingy (sorry not sure what to call it).
-
Great idea. I can almost smell the guts. Did you do something to the Taun-taun's eyes? Maybe it's just the angle, but that last pic makes it look dead.
-
I only do OT with the occasional PT, but I think I'd make an exception if LEGO were to release a set just like this. I especially like the statue. Simply brilliant use for the outdated figure.
-
That is simply amazing. You did an awesome job on the background details. The focus is front and center, so if you're not careful looking at the pics you'll miss the beautiful work on the walls.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Tontus replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I use a product called Goof-Off on stickers and for paint removal on action figures. Dip a Q-Tip in and rub it over the sticker. Give it a minute or so to seap through the sticker and you should be able to peel it easily. Then use a cloth to make sure none stays on the box. Not sure what kind of damage it could do, but if you leave it on plastic for too long, it starts to "melt" the plastic. -
I had to join in the fun. Opening the bag in the bag was easier than I figured it would be. I think I might try bag 1 this weekend with 2 inner bags and a cape.

The clone castle is pretty cool, but I really like what you've done to the King's Castle. I recently bought a second set to add depth and width, but after seeing the extra height, I may have to reconsider my plan. Or maybe get 2 more sets and do both.

Krylon crystal clear and decal Problems
Tontus replied to Bricky0's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I don't know about the brand you used, but generally the instructions say shake for 30 to 60 seconds. I don't think you can over shake. Also, the can is supposed to be upright while spraying, which might be the problem. -

Did you spray them at different times, and maybe not shake the can as much on the other one? -
Those are great. I love the story behind all of them. I especially like the mace on the first guy. Keep em coming.

I'm pleasantly surprised. I was expecting to see something smaller involving the top of the PotC fountain of youth as the portal. I really like it, although now I think I know what the last thing I'd see would be if I were to accidentally walk into an elephant.

Piece Organization
Tontus replied to Lalror's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I agree 100%, the ideal solution would be adding that capability to the program. Until that happens, I'm all for user created mods. I wasn't aware though that it wouldn't be as simple as changing the group name associated with a particular brick. Oh well, it's probably easier to just memorize where everything is located anyway. -
Piece Organization
Tontus replied to Lalror's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I may be jumping the gun here, but I just took a quick peek at the assets.lif file using wordpad. It appears that the top of the file is a list of all the pieces with data for each piece. Part of the data is the group it appears in. It would be really annoying, but in theory you should be able to manually edit the group data for each piece. It might be annoying managing 2000 pieces that way, but should be possible. For someone more skilled than me, it shouldn't be all that hard to come up with a program to edit the file graphically. I should also mention that if you don't already know to backup files before messing with them, then you probably shouldn't try.
