Sorry about the figures, I’m autistic so if it wasn’t in the category specification I didn’t think it’d be an issue, the two unaltered characters where included because I thought they fit in with the scene as they were. thank you for you feedback though, it is appreciated and I’ll try to take it into account if I enter the competition again -

[M4 - 25 - Asymmetrical ] The Rhino Starfighter
Thedbbuildworks replied to Eternal Maul's topic in Watto's Junkyard
might be different for the mods but the links working fine for me whilst on desktop, only struggling to view it on mobile. solid ship dude, the bookends of the chunky nose and those two anterior turrets give it a really dominant presence, i get the vibes of a tanky starfighter that isnt particularly nimble but really packs a punch when it gets you lined up -
[M4-25 - Wretched Hive] Bar Tibanna

Much appreciated feedback! i cant tell you how many times i would catch this thing as i'd be building and nearly knock it over, especially as both ends had to be built concurrently so as to keep the whole thing balanced. i've tried a lot more this year to focus on stud orientation to achieve shapes, i did that a bit with last years coruscant build, but i thought there was room for improvement. the absolute savior of this moc is those extra long rey flex tubes, i picked them up on bricklink about a year ago, no specific use in mind, but the entire outer curve of the platform hangs from those flex tubes. -

Thank you Both, it's a great vindication for the frustration of the build that its appreciated by those especially talented within the community! -

oh why do you have to be so nice!? im supposed to hate you because you've absolutely knocked it out of the park and are gonna wipe the floor in the scores seriously thanks man, your submissions are incredible and they've only made me hate every little thing about my own builds do you have a process for figbarf-ing? i struggle to not see them as ugly throughout, especially incorporating non-star wars pieces and prints? -
Big Moff: “We got an invite to Bar Tibanna. You’re going first — keep your eyes open and your ears open wider. If something goes wrong, I want to hear about it before I step foot there.” Yolee: “Understood, ma’am… But if this goes sideways, are you really sending SLG-R to get me out, or is this gonna be like that time on Nal Hutta?” Big Moff: “You got yourself out of that mess and came back with a hell of a scar. What more do you want from me?” Built on an abandoned Tibanna Gas collecting platform in the clouds of Bespin, Bar Tibanna began is an easy black market harvesting station, over time the station grew both in wealth and network, until it was making more money in members fees than Tibanna revenue. Now the platform drifts through Bespin like a ghost, transponder was taken out years ago, the only way to ever find your way to Bar Tibanna is by invitation. It’s not clear who runs Bar Tibanna, but one things for certain, you only end up here if you’ve got something to offer… and a couple of photos of the platform without figures cluttering up the space

These guys started out as an independent scrapper company, scrapping turned to salvage, salvage turned to…. Acquisitions. Theyve been lucky so far, nobody has been looking hard enough for them to get into too much trouble, that safety is now at risk thanks to their “Leader” Yolee Kene finally getting an invitation the enigmatic Ti-Bar-na Bar Yolee Kene - 26 years old, human female. Homeworld: Various allegations Cool, Collected, Charismatic… all words she’s used to describe herself with little truth in any, what she lacks in competence she makes up for in sheer dumb luck and a hell of a lot of improvising. Talents - pilot, gambling Tam Viic - 58 year old Human Male Homeworld: Earliest records place Viic on Bracca circa 11 BBY A born and bred scrapper, Viic oversaw the deconstruction of multiple clone wars era capital ships, as well as coordinated the transition of Bracca scrapyards from imperial control to the new republic, after that it’s said he retired, turns out he turned his skills to design and construction. A bit more of the latter than the former, but all the custom ships getting pulled for speed mods seem to point his way. Talents - engineering, starship tuning, chef Riv “Tags” Nok - Female Gran of Unknown age Homeworld: Kinyen Tags has a habit of talking your ear off but never saying a concrete word about herself, if it wasn’t for Big Moff’s vouch for her it’d be difficult to trust those three beady eyes. that aside, Riv knows her stuff, doesn’t matter how obscure, how specific or unique, she’ll get the credit value of any item you put in front of her, and she’ll know just what sort’ve buyer you need for it, must be why she and Big Moff get along so well. Talents: item appraisal, smaaaaaall talk SLG-R - Half enforcer, half fancy-man, all droid. Slugger, named for the Synthetic Logic Graft Tam was able to keep stable in his chassis, the upside is a highly emotive and emulatory combat droid, the downside is vanity and a propensity to throw hands at the smallest slight (the weapons are really just for the aesthetic) Slugger is one thing in all situations, backup. unless somebody touches his hat, then YOU’RE the backup. Talents: sweet talking, bare knuckles Big Moff - Real name - Sirella Mozh 72 year old Female Togruta Homeworld: Mygeeto Big Moff has been in salvage for as long as there’s been salvage, at least that’s the reputation she’s built, the reality is she’s entirely a product of her vast network. Born on Mygeeto and educated primarily in the logistics centre of the intergalactic banking, she built a network of high profile contacts that made the transition to purveyance of fine goods and then into the well seasoned world of “acquisitions” Such a world demanded she take on a few extra hands for the more “hands on” work The crew are well looked after so long as the remember the golden rules; Only Big Moff handles the Contacts, Contracts, and Money. Talents: longevity, accounting

[M4-25 - Asymmetrical Starfighter] - Bracca's Flash “This beautiful abomination has 3 event horizon sub-light engines bolted onto it, y’know those a-wings that they say won the new republic the war? Those things only have two, amateurs if you ask me. Just enough life support to avoid a flight suit, Acceleration is Yes, Comfort is No, Lightspeed is maybe so start with smaller jumps, just a couple parsecs at most, and for the love of god don’t light-speed-skip this thing, it will not thank you for it. Weapons? Might as well pop the cockpit and shout Sleemo at the other guy… look, if you want safe, go mod a T-16 and ask your mother which sky-lanes are nice and gentle, but if you want to leave anyone and everyone coming after you in the dust, this thing’ll deliver… As long as it doesn’t disintegrate… I’m kidding!… mostly, I’m serious about the Lightspeed skipping, don’t do it.” - Tam Viic to Yolee Kene I struggled with all categories this year, i'm terrible at flexing my creativity. give me a reference image and i can copy it really quite well, but to design my own thing... i'm not great. this entry dragged and dragged with dozens of iterations until i read Doug Chiang's design principles in the below blog https://vfxblog.com/2016/09/24/doug-chiangs-4-principles-of-star-wars-design/ from there i wouldn't say it was easy, but i locked onto a couple of basic ideas "why is it asymmetrical?" was the first question... well because its scratch built, the parts of the ship to hand dont fit together in a neat way... that got me thinking about scratch built stock cars, coupled with the scum and villainy theme of this years competition i got it! ITS A GETAWAY VEHICLE The first thing i built was the engine block, its chunky, brutal and most importantly, its wide, giving me plenty of room to keep things off centre, i kept it mostly DBG to highlight that its stripped bare and barely functional, most likely found on a scrap heap and cobbled together. next i tucked in one side of the ship, creating a 45 degree slope towards the nose that i filled with industrial looking shapes (pipes, vents) all nestled in that traditional star wars burger structure. when i greebled this i kept referring back to Doug Chiang's advice of "not standing out" so i kept it simple. another principle i focused on was using very familiar star wars shapes in an unfamiliar way, so i went with an x-wing style cockpit, however i found the E-Wing print worked better due to its more geometric corners and detail, like its a welded frame holding the glass rather than a purpose built cockpit. unlike the x wing however i buried the windscreen into the ship a bit, this loses the pilot their right field of view, but adds to the low profile dragster aesthetic. Originally the nose of the ship was more symmetrical, however it wasn't the category requirements that made me change it, as i worked out the narrative behind the ship i realized i wanted it to look more dangerous to pilot than it already did, the idea was for the ship to be so optimized and bare-bones that it was at risk of exploding at any second. A relatively huge engine block sitting right behind a small angular frame for maximum speed, the only way i could really tie that together was to "strip" the bodywork as much as i could, ergo the skeletal right arm of the nose. Built in a scrapyard on Bracca, so fast all you'll see is the flash of engine, or the flash of the whole thing burning up... Braccas Flash

[M4-25 - Rebellion's are Built on Hope] - Make ten men feel like a hundred This is the first entry i finished, however not in this state, it was originally MUCH busier, with more explosions and characters, but after photographing it i realized i wasn't happy with it. so i stripped it back, took away two thirds of the figures, re-set the scene and voila! this is not actually a scene from Rogue One.... or is it? in the first trailer of the film, there was a shot of rebels running onto the Scarif beach with Jyn Erso carrying a data-drive, running right into the sights of the AT-ACT's Cannons. that shot didn't appear in the final film however i've always liked the chaos of it, and so it was what my build evolved into.
