Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

It'd be pretty hilarious if Lego spent the last 8 years fixing the design flaw of a universally hated feature, but then it still didn't work. -

Ultrabuilds? Superjumpers 2.0? More pointless vehicles for Spider-Man? Comic Con exclusive figures? There's a lot of exciting possibilities. -

SMH. It's hard to believe in this day and age that some people still don't know that supervillains often attack helicopters with their snow-plow beach-buggies. I wouldn't expect any sets based on either Suicide Squad movie for pretty obvious reasons. I just think it'd be cool if they could sneak a DCEU inspired variant into their next Batmobile vs Harley Quinn on a skateboard set. -

All I'm saying is that if that's the cost of a Margot Robbie Harley minifigure well, it's not gonna kill me... it's just gonna hurt me, really really bad. -

Why not both legacy and new Joker and Harley variants? I'd love to get a DCEU Harley Quinn that doesn't cost upwards of $200 and isn't all that accurate as it is. And DCEU Joker... well, he had some cool desig... he was... he was there. -

If Lego is still listening, put me down for all three. Heck. Put me down for The Marauder too while you're at it. I don't care if it's just a big white boat, I'm desperate for some X-Men. -

I'm no leaker, but I can pretty much guarantee we'll get sets for The Batman II and The Brave and the Bold. It would also be great to get some Green Lanterns and Booster Gold in Batman sets when those shows hit. Same with any other major characters who appear in those two shows and Waller. (Not that I'd be opposed to an Amanda Waller minifigure mind you, I just think she's pretty easy to make a purist figure for.) Possible. It could also be a mix of legacy Batman film sets and comic based sets. The only thing I'm really expecting is that we'll see Shazam in some shape/form to capitalize on his new film coming out and that him and Batman will be fighting Black Adam. -

Just to add to this, there's a rumored Gotham City display piece. There are images of it out there and it supposedly includes Batman, Joker, Harley, Mr Freeze, and Phantasm all based on BtAS. No one knows when, or even if, it's coming out. And there's two sets besides the Flash Batmobile set that were delayed from last year. One of them is coming out this August and given the delays it could be for Aquaman or The Flash. The other, we have no idea if it will eventually release or not. -

Maybe someone else can confirm this, but I remember hearing that translucent parts need a different mold than opaque parts. -

A new Blackbird in the same vein as the recent Quinjet and Milano would be amazing, but I'm not holding my breathe. I wouldn't even count the X-Mansion as a sure thing yet. I'm just happy to know the Wolverine mech wasn't a one-off thing and Lego is considering X-Men sets again. -

Yeah, these are pretty much my sentiments exactly. The mansion is supposed to be a huge building and it's got the width. But it's lacking height. If they just made each level a couple of bricks higher it'd look so much better. And the roof could use some help. Also, not a fan of all the studs on the front. A smooth face would help it look much better. And, as long as I'm nitpicking, the one other thing I'd change is I'd make the ground floor light bluish gray and the top floor tan. If anyone from Lego is reading, please include Kitty Pryde. Actually, and I know this would never happen, but since Lego has to know by now about this leak and given that it's still in production, it'd be fun if they did a poll where we could vote on which X-Men to include. -

Yeah, the X-Mansion is ugly. On the other hand, it's Lego. I can just build my own (and already have). Which, obviously, that doesn't excuse the set looking pretty meh. I'm just saying I'm getting it for the figures. Assuming this is actually going to be coming out and this isn't a joke or some step in Lego's plan to put an end to leaks. -

I'm thinking/hoping we'll get "Brave and the Bold" styled sets. The Lego designers keep saying we don't get DC content because they're not making films aimed at kids. Well, this year they are, so it's time to start capitalizing on it. First up, we just got a Black Adam film and now we're getting a Shazam film. The Rock isn't gonna like it, but I say throw them in a set together. Throw in that blue Shazam and the girl Shazam so we got a Shazam family going that will never ever be completed as per the rules of DC superhero teams. Throw in a big Batwing with Batman. And, just to even the odds for Adam, Penguin with a helicopter. Boom, you've got yourself a $70 set. Next up, The Flash. We're getting Flash and... one of his darker villains who I'm not gonna spoiler here in a film but probably won't get that second one in a set. Throw them both together with a Batcycle and maybe give the villain a little helicopter for the lols. There we go, a $20 set. Still on Flash, we've got Supergirl and an evil dude with a cool beard coming. Throw them in a set together. Throw in Superman. Give Batman a mech suit with some kryptonite blasters. Give that bearded guy a dumb little space pod. You got yourself a $50 set. Next up, Blue Beetle. No one knows who anyone else in that film will be. And that's great. Lego can just go with the classic Batmobile vs Joker. Throw Blue Beetle in that and you've got yourself a $30 set. Now, the only one we're missing is Dr. Fate. And realistically, Lego is just gonna leave it at that. But since this is my fantasy, I'm gonna say Lego heard our cries for a Tower of Fate and rushed that into production. Throw in Batman, Dr Fate, Zatanna, Wonder Woman, and Raven (hey, it's my fantasy, I can dream) defending the tower. Now, who is gonna attack? Klarion the Witch Boy of course, there's a huge demand for him. Throw in a bigfig Soloman Grundy and a brickbuilt Trigon to back him up. There you go. You've got a $100 shelf-warmer. Tower of Fate aside, I don't think my list is too unrealistic of an expectation seeing as most of the characters will be in the limelight this year and Lego will want to capitalize on it. -

New DC slate dropped. I think there's a good chance we'll see sets for Brave and the Bold and The Batman Part II. Superman: Legacy and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow might get one each. But that's it. I have zero expectations of us getting sets for Creature Commandos or Booster Gold. -

Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Well, not necessarily. Starting around 2014-2015, Marvel allegedly didn't allow companies to produce toys for X-Men and Fantastic Four because they didn't want to promote films that weren't part of the MCU. Jonathan Hickman said they had a ban on X-Men comics for the same reason. So that could be the real reason we haven't seen X-Men sets since that one. That aside, I remember hearing before that the Blackbird set sold very poorly. -

That's a fair point. My main reason for assuming the torso was one of the first pieces to leak is we haven't seen anything else. No new Batman torso. No new Flash head or cowl (the old cowl mold would work, but the earpieces should be gold instead of yellow). No new printed legs for Flash (not that Lego would bother anyways). Nothing for any third figure, if there even is a third figure. I just think it's odd we'd see a torso and nothing else since then. Also, while we're on the topic of this years sets that were supposed to be coming out last year, there were two besides The Flash set which got pushed back (76222 and 76224). 76224 is now coming this year and I think we all assume it's for Aquaman 2. But what about 76222? I've got two theories for that. 1) 76224 is actually a second Flash set, but it contains spoilers so it's coming out after the film in August. 76222 is for Aquaman 2 and will come out in October and the reason it wasn't on that Promobricks list from a while back is they only covered up to August. Or it was just missing for another, unrelated reason. 2) 76222 was a Batgirl set but when that film got canned so did the set. -

That's possible, assuming someone held onto the torso for 5 months before posting it online. The film was set for release in Nov 2022. But, last May they announced it was delayed to June 2023. So, assuming the set was going to release in Aug 2022, they could have started producing the parts (I remember hearing they start mass-producing sets roughly three months in advance) but then halted it when they heard the film was delated. Of course, this makes several assumptions. The torso was the one of the first pieces put into mass production Lego wasn't informed in advance about the change in release dates Lego can just halt production of a set like that -

I'd argue the exact opposite. D2C sets are typically aimed at an older audience. The Keaton Batman films, Back to the Future, Lord of the Rings, the original Jurassic Park films are all properties adults are more familiar with than kids, which is why we got, or are getting, D2C's instead of smaller playsets for those. The X-Men are the exact same case. Adults grew up with the 90's cartoon series, the Fox films, the other cartoon series, etc with while kids today are growing up with The Avengers. So, just from that standpoint, it'd make more sense to release a big X-Men display piece instead of Wolverine's sand buggy, Storm's mech, and Magneto's sailboat of doom. But, with that said, we're pretty poor predictors of what Lego will do. Most of us thought they would have capitalized on NWH by now. Most of us thought they'd release a modular Avengers Tower before a Black Panther bust. We all thought that new Thanos mold two years back would have seen some sort of reuse. Personally, I would have thought they'd try to capitalize on Teen Titans Go since it's been on for close to 10 years, is aimed at kids, and had a theatrical film release. But, nope. Lego will continue to surprise us for better or worse. -

Hey now, us X-Men fans had to sit through everyone falling for those No Way Home set rumors twice now. We deserve a turn at being gullible and disappointed too, After that Black Panther bust last year, a $300 Batman diorama sounds like something Lego would do. As for the X-Mansion, people ask for one on this board at least once per year. It's the only Ideas/Cuusoo Superhero project to reach 10K and not get made in some form. And we have the X-Men 97 cartoon coming out this year they could tie it into. There's at least a remote possibility it could happen. It's got a better chance of selling than some of the other things Lego has released lately.
