  1. Thank god. Us Batmobile set collectors are starving over here. I wouldn’t say we’re likely to be getting anything else from this theme for the year. It could happen, but we don’t have any information indicating there’s any more sets on the immediate horizon.
  2. That Phoenix is just flat out ridiculous too.
  3. The year of having a Superman set on the shelves is officially over.
  4. Interesting. So, it’d be roughly the same size as the last one given the piece count.
  5. Swap out Killer Croc with Clayface. There’s gotta be one exclusive character locked behind a $400 paywall.
  6. The designers for Arkham hinted that the inmate heads and Two Face’s hairpiece weren’t meant as one-off’s. But that may just be wishful thinking on their part rather than anything concrete.
  7. There’s a better chance of them being based on The Boys
  8. There isn’t any other Endgame final battle set (that we know of) and we are required to get at least one per year. I could see this happening, tbh.
  9. List for June is up in the usual place. 3 regular sets, one that’s probably D2C given the 3000+ piece count. Possibly a modular.
  10. List for June is up in the usual place. 3 regular sets, one that’s probably D2C given the 3000+ piece count. Possibly a modular. Edit: oops, wrong forum. DC isn’t getting anything.
  11. Exciting news about Brainiac! Maybe we’ll get lucky and Lego will include Superman on the box art for 2027’s Batmobile line.
  12. Agreed. I should probably make it clear that just because I don’t agree with the arguments being made for why a Daily Planet modular couldn’t be made doesn’t mean I think it has anymore chance of happening than a Duplo Deadpool set. Just the state of the DC theme (DC as a brand, in general, honestly) is enough to rule out a Daily Planet modular. If I had to rank the obvious choices for next year’s modular, it’d go like this: 1) Oscorp 2) Avengers Compound 3) Wayne Manor 4) Baxter Building 5) nothing 6) Daily Planet I’d love to be wrong, as a Daily Planet modular would be fantastic news, but I really don’t see it happening.
  13. I gotta disagree on this one. As I said before, the Daily Planet really doesn’t need as many new prints because of the number of civilians you could include in it. Now, are Perry and Steve Lombard character people would be excited about? Not really. But Lois, Jimmy, and Clark have all always been relatively popular, far more so than anyone at the Daily Bugle outside of maybe J. Jonah Jameson, but I’d argue Lois and Clark have him surpassed. You include even just those three alongside Superman, Lex, and 5-6 other characters (as is typical with these sets) and you’d have a minifigure selection that’s good enough for a modular building. As for the building itself being just a boring newspaper building like the Daily Bugle, I gotta disagree here too. For one, the Planet has been far more important to Superman than it has to Spider-Man. Half of the Spider-Man movies haven’t even bothered including The Bugle while I can’t think of a single Superman movie has hasn’t included the Planet. For another, the Planet has a very distinct look thanks to that iconic giant golden globe up at the top. The Bugle doesn’t have a distinct look or any iconic features. It is, as you correctly point out, just a big building those main selling point is all those Spider-Man adjacent minifigures. The Planet doesn’t have that issue as it’s iconic enough and has a distinct enough design to be its own selling point.
  14. Yeah, but it’s also a Lego DC set. Lackluster figure selection is a staple. Just look at the four sets we know are coming next year: Batman v Superman Batmobile: Batman Batman and Robin Batmobile: Batman The Batman Batmobile: Batman Batman logo: Batman and Batman It’s still hilarious to me that two of those sets are based on movies where Batman isn’t the only titular character and even that wasn’t enough for them to make an appearance. The biggest issue with my hypothetical Daily Planet lineup isn’t that it’s lackluster, it’s that I didn’t include five different Batmans!
  15. I agree that the Daily Planet is very likely not going to happen simply because Lego has zero confidence in Superman sets selling (and it seems they may be correct in that assumption). But, I don’t think it would be impossible to pull off, minifigure-wise. Looking at, for example, the X-Mansion, we got a total of ten minifigures with four being repeats (with some minor modifications to two of them), one being purist, and five being new. If the Daily Planet followed the same route of the Daily Bugle by including a bunch of civilians using purist minifigures, we could easily see, as a lineup: Superman (reuse, new legs) Lex Luthor (reuse) Lois Lane (purist) Jimmy Olsen (purist) Perry White (purist) Steve Lombard (purist) Clark Kent (purist) Supergirl Superboy (Jonathan Kent) Brainiac Bizarro Lobo which would give us the same number of new minifigures as the X-Mansion (probably with less print too) but more minifigures overall (and they could include other purist characters like Cat Grant and Ron Troupe, if they really wanted to push the minifigure count up without any new prints).
  16. November 9th was when the rumors started. But when the leaks come aren’t consistent, at all. We first heard about Krusty Burger, Arkham, and the Beauty and the Beast castle all at the same time even though they released months apart. And even when talking about superheroes Modulars specifically, the first three Marvel ones weren’t leaked until a few months in advance. The X-Mansion we knew about close to two years in advance, even before we knew about Avengers Tower. Leaks will come when they come and no one here has any real idea when that will be.
  17. I guess that depends on what your original expectations were. Personally, it’s shaping up to be exactly the level of creatively bankrupt cash grab I originally expected , but maybe I’m just too pessimistic . The only thing I’m interested in is seeing the original X-Men cast back again, but in comic accurate costumes. And I guess RDJ’s Dr Doom, but that’s more of a “could this actually be good?” type of interest and not a “this is gonna be the greatest thing ever!” type.
  18. I wouldn’t be surprised if they only did one or two Batmobiles next year (specifically the two you listed) instead of the three we got this year.
  19. Batman Beyond seems a bit too niche, IMO. Sure, we just got a Batman Forever Batmobile and a Batman and Robin Batmobile, but those were major theatrical releases, not a twenty-year Batman cartoon, (and let’s be fair, those two sets are pushing it.) And sure, you could bring up BtAS getting sets, but Beyond was never as big as BtAS nor are its versions of characters like Joker, Harley, and Mr Freeze as recognizable. Beyond has always had a cult following, but that’s about it.
  20. NGL, it’s somewhat surprising that it didn’t sell well. Superman merch seemed to sell well and the movie itself did well. It seems to me there could be a handful for explanations for what’s going on here: 1) the set just wasn’t appealing to people 2) people were interested in movie merch but not Superman merch in general, ie being comic based instead of movie based hurt the set 3) people who are interested in Superman aren’t interested in Lego, and vice versa 4) the anecdotal evidence that Superman merch sold well didn’t match the reality 5) Lego set their expectations far too high for this set 6) the set was always slated for early retirement as Lego needs space in their warehouses for Doomsday minifigures, and the sales are irrelevant I really doubt 2 or 3 are the case, as Lego fans and DC fans seem to be a large overlap and I don’t think people buying Superman merch noticed the difference between movie and comic minifigures designs. Nor does 5 make a lot of sense given the trend we’ve seen with Lego DC. Its hard to say what’s going on given Lego never releases sales data, but I’d definitely lean towards 1 or 4, neither of which are good for the future of Lego DC.
  21. The Superman mech set is already retiring. I don’t think that’s a good sign for future non-Batman sets.
  22. I might be wrong, but I thought it was TV-MA, which would guarantee we get no sets. I mean, anything besides Batman is already guaranteed not to get sets, but Lego also won’t touch TV-MA or R-rated projects.
  23. Between the Supergirl trailer and all those new minifigure designs in Legacy of the Dark Knight’s latest trailer, it’s so disappointing to be a Lego DC fan. There’s so much potential and all we’re getting next year are three Batmobiles, a brickbuilt Batman logo, and five different Batman minifigures.
  24. Supergirl is getting ten times as many sets as Superman did. Does this mean Lego supports alcoholism more than hope and niceness?
  25. Lego will not be impacted. We will continue to get Batmobiles and nothing else.
