Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Tesco has Groot for £27 up until the 14th of June, although he's only in stock in bigger stores. There was also a voucher code for £5 off £25 on Lego, I'm pretty sure that one works too. -

Ah, haven't seen the movie since it came out in cinemas so I guess I forgot. I'm hanging on to a little bit of hope we get alternate heads for Andrew and Tobey. -

Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Couple thoughts about the new sets: - Endgame set couldve done with being a bit bigger? I get the idea that they wanted the girl power moment in set form but they missed out on some of my favourites (Rescue, Gamora, Nebula). Getting a white horse again is super exciting though, hope that means its gonna show up in a different set soon. - Venom groot is a very weird set to make, but I'm a big fan. Just got the regular groot on sale for £22 so I think I'm gonna get this one and display them together. - Spidey set looks great from first impressions, sandman and lizard are sorely missed, and i can't see that goblin mask anywhere :( (I LOVE ELECTRO) - just saw the baby hulkbuster LOL -
The fort features a jolly roger flag and a rope bridge, I'm fairly sure it's not the set we're getting.

New Ninjago City set has some stickers representing posters, one of which has a brown fort with some pirates and red imperial soldiers. The July set may not be brown but I think including red soldiers could be intentional subliminal marketing

On one hand, I feel like this is a movie they're really gonna push advertising hard with, as it has fan-favourite characters and is the introduction of X-men to the mcu. On the other, are they really gonna market the movie to children via toys in the same way as the other MCU releases? Probably not, although we might get a larger 18+ set. -

Some of the figures in recent Avengers sets are probably going to be included in the tower, including a Black Widow and Loki with leg printing. Not as exciting as getting exclusive figures, but atleast they're higher quality. All I want in terms of figures for the tower is a Happy Hogan that actually looks like Jon Favreau. -

Still pretty sad we didn’t get Gamora, Nebula and Drax in the 2021 Benatar. The set is pretty perfect minus those figures, would’ve happily traded in Thor and the Chitauri. -

I'm not seeing the purple space helmet and tanks :( -
Yep. Hope we either get that in more colours and designs or we get other moulded dragons at that scale. I would really like to make a dragon tamer faction in my fantasy world (perhaps viking styled like HTTYD?) and this little guy is perfect.

Beautiful build. I haven't seen one on the beach like this in real life, but it reminds me of one scene the movie Chef a bit (one of my favourite movies of all time, I really want to MOC the El Jefe truck one day). Really hoping I can pick one up in time

Finally somewhere to house the small Black Falcon army I’ve been slowly amassing from PaB. This is pretty exciting. A couple questions for anyone who bought a designer program build before: - Are you limited to backing only one build? I’ll definitely go for this one but if possible I might get the snack shack too. - How much can we expect this to be? At almost 4000 pieces its slightly smaller than 10305 but do these sets tend to cost more?

Could just be a cool easter egg but there might be a chance of spider-verse sets? https://twitter.com/hollywoodhandle/status/1655585030331154434 -

There's a few cool things in that trailer that are pretty likely for wave 2. The frog car and giant knight guy would be nice to get. -

Detailed set descriptions are up, including character names and little plot details. I may need to correct myself a second time, the evil littlefigs are just labelled “nightmare creatures” and Grimspawn is just the one in the crusader helmet. -

Now we have the names of the characters, we know this isn’t the case. The trapped civilians actually seem to be the classmates of the main cast. That’s more exciting in my opinion, as it allows for more characters to be developed upon. -

I’m currently reading through the brickset article and trying to match names to faces. The little guys (officially dreamlings and grimspawn) have names too. The spacebus set has some of my favourite - Denny (the spaceman grimspawn, as in Benny, Lenny.. etc) - Captain Bedbeard (the pirate grimspawn, named after Redbeard) - Albert, who I believe is the space chimp Honourable mentions are the grimspawn Flight Knight and Susan(?). Lots of fun references to classic Lego themes and characters. -

One more set has been revealed, Dream Village (40657). I love that this theme has a lot of location based sets mixed in with the vehicles and creature builds. Nice to see more of the little dream guys, I’ve just noticed they hold things under their arm which is pretty funny. Side note: Pegasus Flying Horse is such a funny name for a set. -
I’ve always felt we needed some more fantasy ideas in Pirates, like a ghost ship with a skeleton crew.

They have pretty funky body shapes, I don’t think they would suit the dwarves well but who knows. -

The problem with Marvel for me is the appeal of the sets is going to be almost entirely the minifigs nearly every time. Yes, we have some iconic locations and vehicles, but they are only really done justice in big expensive sets. I always feel worse buying Marvel sets because I know I only want them for the characters, the playsets/vehicles they come with aren’t targetted towards people like me. That being said, it feels like we aren’t getting many sets at all, even those aimed at a younger audience. I feel the MCU format is too restrictive for sets, and we need to start seeing some more small sets with comic inspired designs and teamups, like the Miles and Morbius set we got in January. I love the MCU, but I feel like it holds the theme back a bit, like its not allowed to be as fun and crazy as other themes.
