Well, I'm confused but let's start with some data: Votes Issac Osborne ( TheLazyChicken): Melinda Fox Emily Goodwin ( Dragonfire) : Greg Kennedy Warren Thompson (Lego3364) : Emily Goodwin Adam Powers (jluckhaupt) : Melinda Fox Greg Kennedy ( Lego Spy) : Melinda Fox Willie Spencer ( Tohst ): Melinda Fox Melinda Fox ( Xenophobic Monoxide): Greg Kennedy Emma Lane ( vampyre78) :Adam Powers Fred Rhodes (Adventurer1): Emma Lane Jeff Yates( Getdamonkey ) : Willie Spencer Timothy Daniels ( Calanon) : Adam Powers Jordan Foster( Comrade Commander): Adam Powers Names in Green are known loyalists (Town). Names in red are known purists...oh wait...crud. The two things this tells me is Adam almost got lynched despite the bandwagon backing off of him and two known town people voted for Greg Please let me know if I messed up any of the votes.

Oh no, the splinters and wood sap are almost as bad as a dead body and blood.....and the Purists are winning! Emily was obviously targeted because of the methodical way she was looking at things and her suspicions. I think we need to continue to follow her lines of thought. They don't seem like they were 100% right but I know I made mistakes day 1 as well. We just didn't have enough information. Let's turn this around.

Wow, bandwagons sure move quickly around here. I think Emily has done a great job summarizing as to why she thinks certain people are loyalists (town) or purists (scum). I don't agree with some of her conclusions but I think that is more because I have a big bucket of people I don't have a good read on yet. But I don't think Adam is scum. I am concerned about Jeff. His comment: seems more like it was simply sowing confusion and suspicion rather problem solving. It must be my chemistry background but I like data more than random grenade throwing. The good news is these bandwagons will give us interesting data (game) tomorrow. I'm sticking with my vote.

Vote: Melinda Fox (Xenophobic Monoxide) I actually think it is Melinda that took something benign and escalated it. Between that and trying to point out that she suspects Emily is the vigilante (do we even have one?) just feels like she is more trying to divert suspicion than helping solve the murder.

I guess I'm not seeing it. Adam quoted the relevant part. And then there was a very mild rebuke. Maybe I need to clean my receptors.

Gotta disagree, and not just because I'm participating. We need data and while lack of data is itself data, participatory data is better data. By saying people who participate are more likely to be scum, that discourages participation and lets the scum, who do know each other and can communicate, organize and pick us off while we're silent. But its an interesting take on the quiet folk.

Why would you vote for someone that has been nothing but witty and helpful? And has great hair? Was it because I didn't comment on your Game of Drones pun? I did like it.

Well, it looked like a bandwagon was forming against Emily for being so bloodthirsty back in the Confirmation thread. But it did provide an interesting dynamic. Emily in the confirmation thread said she wanted to 'lynch their heads off' and in response Melinda says: But when the bandwagon starts against Emily today, which actually started with a mild rebuke from Adam, Melinda changes her tune: Votes for Emily and then throws in that maybe Emily is our Vigilante and unvotes her. Seems suspicious to me but I'm happy for Melinda to dissuade me.

It's the old riddle....A body is found in a locked room that has a very small window. The person was stabbed and the body is wet and there is no murder weapon but nobody could have gotten in or or out of the room. The killer threw an ice spear through the window that then melted.

Actually, I think the idea that the datapad -is- the blunt object is brilliant. Like when you kill someone with ice so nobody can find the murder weapon

Unless we know what hit the Admiral, it is hard to say someone was in the right position. I hate to use the phrase magic bullet but super sci-fi SPACE projectile could be at play here. Targeting the people closest to the victim might be as far fetched as targeting the shortest suspect (Note how tall my hair is!)(which I was totally kidding about, by the way, but....just because there is blood doesn't mean its not poison.) The room went dark, so someone was able to access the lights/electrical. That can be done by remote/smartphone so is the person standing nearest to the light switch a great suspect or an innocent bystander? We don't have much to go on day 1 but if we do nothing, the darn purists, who know each other, will slowly pick us off.

This is terrible! But I think I saw this same thing recently on an old data program...Game of Something or other. We should look to blame whoever is shortest for poisoning the King...er...Admiral. Can I do a chemical analysis to see if there is poison?

1. Yes, I was in mafia school 2. I was lynched day 1, so I failed. I'm hoping to hit day 2 this time. 3. Yes, even if I go past day 1. 4. Yes, my photography is terrible so I'm not going to nitpick others. 5. I'm the guy trying to make things run smoothing and basically cleaning up messes. It makes the hero hate me, but also saves your life. Speaking of Ceti Alpha 6, did you remember to send a follow up team for those guys you stranded there to check on them? I told you I heard on NPR there was some unusual activity in that sector that may have shifted orbits of planets. You don't want some hapless science expedition to run across those guys and get earbugs or something. -Tohst

That is a fascinating interpretation and quite possibly correct. I actually thought the 'sci-fi movie' was a training film they had to watch before being issued a ship. But I guess that's part of the joy of that idea book. You can make of it what you like. My biggest issue with the book was the tease it gave those of us in US about castle sets while telling us inside the front cover that they weren't available to us. -Tohst
-
Well, if we're going to nitpick. The 1980 Idea book showed Town, Castle, and Space were all in the same universe. No need for time travel, just a space ship. And I would love Bill and Mary to show up in the Lego movie. -Tohst

I want to thank Shadows and Darkdragon for hosting....and all the players that I had fun watching after I was expelled on the first day. This award means so much.... What's that? I failed? Expelled the first day...yes.....penalty....yes. Well, let me bring back Bud to say one more thing. I told you! I told you you'd lose if you kicked me out. Muhahahaha. Hey, stop putting that there. That REALLY HURTS -Bud As for how I really feel. I was forced to go to You Tube and find a link for the Katamari Fail screen. Enjoy -Tohst

So, if I said I was a wizard at this, would you say : Unfortunately, the only role called "Wizard" is in D&D (when killed, all votes are anonymous for the day), and never used in mafia games. Again, check you logic. This site doesn't use a role called a leader. In fact a role called 'leader' is little used. However, the common use of the term leader as 'someone who leads' would certainly apply. -Bud

I shouldn't be surprised. I expected too much of you to see my obviously superior nature, especially for the drug addled. My reasoning should be obvious but I'll explain it for the cheap seats. I voted for Craig Anheiser. In addition to being a stoner, he was a main proponent of the number theory, hounding those who wouldn't supply a number as if we were supposed to just give up that information for free. I see now he just voted for me because of the new 'role claim' theory. Two theories that are designed to lead the rest of you in the wrong direction. I expected earlier that he would vote for me near the end and have a Black Mesa lurker jump in if necessary to put it over the top. Why, he even went so far as to to chastise the rest of you for not 'questioning me' more about the leadership thing. As if there was a thing to question? I can't count the number of things I've led over the years. Science fair projects were I harness the power of the team to a second place win (We were robbed of first place). Car Washes for charity where I directed people on how to wash cars right. I suspect that I am targeted for two reasons. The first and obvious is as a cool kid I'm a natural leader. The other preps have shown some spark but so far haven't risen to the occasion. The second is that I am outspoken and thus became an easy target for jealousy. Why do I think Black Mesa will win if I'm gone? Let me count the ways. One - strictly numerical - You'll have voted off a town member. Good move, guys! Two - one less prep, the natural leaders of the school - In your heart you know it to be true. Three - Black Mesa will continue to target anyone outspoken. It's the dandelion theory. Anyone who rises above the rest will be cut down. They have seen that it works and will continue to do it. Four - From what I've seen of the rest of you, sadly even the ones who should have started in my corner, I was your best bet. I shouldn't have to convince you. If you don't know it, the fault lies with you. -Bud
-
Well let me add to the list. I'm a leader. I predict the town side will lose to Black Mesa if I am gone. I said I thought you were deliberately being obtuse. Now I wonder if you're just so drug addled you can't see what should be obvious. Maybe if I do it this way. I'm the cream of the crop I rise to the top -Bud
-
It is pretty simple but I suspect you are being deliberately obtuse. The people are scared. The faculty makes a claim about Black Mesa and suddenly they are grasping at straws. So much so that some reasonable suggestions I made caused hysteria and fingers pointed at me. In the spirit more of noblese oblige than self-preservation I have engaged further. Leadership is always necessary to survive crisis. I guess you would prefer the students isolated and rudderless? I am glad to see others stepping up and analyzing information and trying to calm down in the face of this. However, I stand by most of my original observations. Observe how they look. Your stinky stoner keds don't inspire confidence. -Bud

Shoes are the windows to who a person is. You can tell if they are poor (suspect!) or well off (good people) I know some of the riff raff are going to jump all over me for this one but you can't bribe someone that already has money. You can't offer to pay them off to spy for Black Mesa You can tell if they are lying about who they are. The kid who says he has money but has old shoes....lying. The cheerleader whose shoes don't have grass stains....lying. You can tell if they've been up to no good. Dirt on their shoes....where have they been? Shoes too clean (especially for cheap shoes)....what did they just clean off Sneakers? Well....you know who wears sneakers, right? SNEAKS! I'm much more interested in the people who don't want to tell us about their shoes than those who were concerned with a number. Seriously, the townies cannot afford for me to go with how much leadership I provide. -Bud
