Decal when printed seem to have loss of quality?
(Dutch) replied to Divine's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
For clear decal paper a white back ground is perfect. A white background or any object with white will take on the color of the torso it's being applied to. Using white decal paper you'll need to have the back ground the same color as the torso it's being applied to. I hope I've made some since haha- 17 replies

For all my custom figures I use decal paper by DecalPaper.com It's great stuff to work with. As your using an inkjet printer you'll have to seal the decal paper. I had good luck with krylon matt clear coat. About two to three coats should be enough to seal the paper. One suggestion I have is to use warm water to soak the decals in before application

Crayon's Customised Iron Man minifig :)

You've done an outstanding job applying those decals. I know how hard it is to apply white decal paper. You've gotta cut it just right or else you'll have a white border. -
IronArtist's Creative thread.

I share your exact feelings. I used to display my deal design work, but soon people began taking advantage selling figures using my work ect. So I had to remove all my work. Recently I've been doing a few request and so far so good! Onto your designs. I admire your work it's quite impressive. My personal favorite out of these designs would be Wolverine far left. I look forward to seeing more decal designs from you. -Dutch -
Renaissance Custom-Printed Minifig Torsos
(Dutch) replied to Vamor's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
There are many people who would go the cheap route I.E digital printing. You on the overhand did not. You went above and beyond and had these excellent torsos pad printed. I've got to say these torso are outstanding! Do you have any plans for new designs? P.S Once I have a bit more funds available I'd like to support you by buying a couple torsos. -Dutch -
Man of Steel - Alternate Jor El Decals

Dang you've got some skill. You must be a graphic designer? Making decal designs appear Legoish is harder than it seems. Those designs looks as though Lego itself made them. Outstanding work! -Dutch- 5 replies

Good work! The choice of parts for Daenerys Targaryen is perfect.

We both have something in common, we're both perfectionists. The laser printer I bought cost me a pretty penny $500 to be exact. Perhaps if you are interested I could print you a sheet(s) of water slide decals. Much cheaper than spending $500 on a new laser printer. PM me if your interest and maybe we can make a deal? -Dutch

If you are going into the business of printing decals and making custom figures. I'd recommend purchasing a laser printer. The one I use is a HP Color LaserJet CP2025. Worth every penny! If you are only going to use it from time to time I'd buy myself an inkjet. Hopes this helps you out! -Dutch

Very original idea adding in music. while I was reading your descriptions the music playing added to the whole mood of the moc. Well done! -Dutch

Yes, this tutorial is about applying water slide decals which, is the same if your using a lazer or inkjet. I used an inkjet printer for quite a while. One big thing to note when using a inkjet is after printing your decal designs onto water slide decal paper use must take a clear sealant a spray the decal paper. Give the paper 3 coats allow 30min to dry between coat. If you do not do this very important step your decals will run when placed into water and will look awful. My choice in sealant would be this http://www.amazon.com/Krylon-Matte-Finish-Spray-Artists/dp/B000RMPT0C

Hello everybody, I was asked by SandMirror38 to design a couple characters from Tin Tin. They turned out so well I thought I'd share them with the rest of the community. Thompson and Thompson face decals. Nestor Face and torso. Milk Man torso only Thanks for viewing! -Dutch

I disagree, The Lego Iron Man helmets gives the figure a bobble head appearance. TonyBrickVault is producing these figures and I can tell you from experience it's cheaper and easier to produce a figure like Iron Man with a printed head. Image hand painting 30 iron man helmets? Let only the added cost of buying the helmets. Onto to the figure, The figure is excellent I would however like to see more detail in the design. -Dutch
