  1. I think “Apes” is more renowned than Avatar, boasting two generations of loved films, so it’d get a big push from that alone. While “Apes” may not have as many general kinds of builds (i.e., even if one’s not familiar with Avatar, helicopters and mechs are generally recognizable and marketable on their own), LEGO could make a wave or two of very unique sets that with the “Apes” reputation could sell fairly well or at least stand out; the apes’ own environments from the original films and films like “Dawn” and “War” from the 10s’ outings, helicopters and other (I guess more war-type vehicles?) from films such as “Rise”, ruined cities/post-apocalyptic environments (the ones with vibrant plant life from the “Kingdom” concept art/teaser looks compelling), Will’s attic from “Rise” (and “Dawn” though dirty, abandoned, and featured less) in which Caesar stayed/lived, the San Francisco bridge “battle”(?) from the end of “Rise” (there’s also the primate habitat from which all the primates escape earlier in the same film), the already mentioned apes on horses, underground mutant gathering areas (perhaps with a nuclear bomb), etc.(?) If they’re willing to really dig deep into the property, take it to the extreme, and not undermine it via budget cuts, I think at the very least they could make a great collection of sets that with uniqueness and iconicity/recognition could probably sell pretty well (at the very least, though this doesn’t necessarily mean they’d sell plentifully and thus may be a bit off topic, LEGO would probably end up making its most unique science fiction theme in a rather long time (it’s not in-house but compared to licensed science fiction themes and even in-house, it’d be “a breath of fresh air”.)) I guess a test that could be done is to see how many of the Avatar sales are due to the theme itself or the general, unrelated appeal of the builds. If it’s more so the latter then “Apes” may not fair as well in that regard, but the uniqueness and iconicity could make up for it. (At some points in this reply I may’ve repeated myself or brought up unrelated things; that’s due to my general enthusiasm and excitement for the possibility of “Apes” sets.)
  2. Even Imaginext did a non-licensed Black Adam tie-in:
  3. I hope that in 2024 LEGO releases Planet Of The Apes Sets since that year will yield the new film “The Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes”. I would love to see at least one set for each of the 2010s films, “Rise”, “Dawn”, and “War”, and maybe even a D2C for the original 1968 film. What I think makes the chance of it happening somewhat high, is that LEGO did sets for Avatar and its sequel; the theme is of a science fiction property that got a new film release and was originally a part of Fox and can now be considered a part of Disney since Disney bought Fox; this applies to Planet Of The Apes and “Apes” is far more renowned than Avatar, and boasts two distinct, very iconic (at least the late 60s, early 70s films (the 10s ones are not obscure but I don’t think they have the iconicity of the earlier releases)) eras or generations of films. Plus, seeing the effort they put into the Avatar sets (a property for sets less certain of success than “Apes”) makes me hopeful that they wouldn’t shortchange the theme. This is slightly off topic, but they even already have good pieces for the torsos and limbs of the 2010s films’ chimpanzees; just use the longer arms from the Avatar Navi figures, the medium legs, and the standard torsos, plus a new head mold; that covers Caesar, Koba, Rocket, and some potential others whose names I can’t recall currently.
  4. Yeah the Wolverine and Groot ones would’ve been more unique and cooler to get. The Doctor Doom one I would’ve liked to have seen as well: Do you think there was a marketing push by Marvel (which included merchandise by LEGO and Funko) for this comic line since the mechs and monsters are potentially far more marketable than other comic lines that may not have such a thing to them to easily market?
  5. It seems the 2023 sets in general are something of a step-up in quality (though that may be due to an increase in or added vibrancy to the renders and box art (or it could be all of the above.)) With this increase in different regards, I hope (and I guess even have a bit of a feeling) that LEGO throws DC a pretty big bone in the summer.
  6. When first trying to figure out what the piece (or pieces) were I thought it could’ve been a new piece trying to see what first appeared to be a stud or two but the shape of it and parts of its look made me uncertain. After still not knowing what it was I came back to it after a while and it appears to be a stud placed in the top of a/the cup with a flat, one-by-one circle stud put on top of the non-flat, one-by-one stud (the top of which is sticking out of the cup and is staying in the cup by way of its bottom connector aspect/part.)
  7. I really like how the vials are done this time in the Morbius vs Miles set; instead of using the specific, molded pieces LEGO used upside down wine glasses with a stud or two (or maybe a new piece?) at the bottom (top of the cup where the opening is.) I like the designs of Mile’s car and the hulkbuster. The Morbius figure is neat though I’ll probably change his hair to the one that was used for Lobo.
  8. I don’t think it’s that impossible; they’ve done Rocket faithfully and that’s fine. With MODOK they would just have to emphasize the horror of the character and its origin. The comic book look adapted 1 to 1 to live action would look fine that way. It being represented with its full strangeness would make it better.
  9. I’m personally a fan of the 60s series, but I would’ve rather had a set that comes with Batgirl and Bookworm (though the new faces for Batman and Joker and (especially?) the changes made to the Batmobile are nice and I do welcome them.)
  10. I don’t know if this point has been brought up already, but to some degree, isn’t the idea that they can’t make new sets because there are aren’t any new movies, cartoons, or tv shows (or particularly those that aren’t rated above PG-13) erroneous given that in the last two years they did a new UCS tumbler, a wide release set based off the 2005 film “Batman Begins”, and a store exclusive set that was a slightly updated version of the 1960s series batmobile?
  11. I hope it’s alright to ask this here. I don’t where else to ask and the property in question is technically connected to Disney since Disney now owns 20th Century Studios/Fox. What is the likelihood of LEGO Planet Of The Apes sets in 2024 to coincide with the release of “The Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes”? The Avatar sets made me think that something like this is likelier than it may initially seem. Personally I would love to get Planet Of The Apes sets. It would be ideal to me if they did, in addition to the presumed three or four sets for “Kingdom”, at least one set for each of the 2010s films; “Rise”, “Dawn”, and “War”. For figures of Caesar and Koba for instance (both chimpanzees if I’m not mistaken) they could use standard torsos, the long arms, and medium legs, plus a new head mold. They could even do a D2C set based off the original, 1968 film. It would be a fantastic theme to me (the box art would be great alone.)
  12. Sometime over the last day or so a shirt (design) was revealed (or at the very least appeared online) that has the Illuminati members on it. Is there still some kind of chance that LEGO may make say Professor X, Mr. Fantastic and/or Black Bolt?
  13. It would be fantastic to get a comic book X-Men CMF series (it would be kinda neat if they did some movie variants too at some point; Mystique and DOFP Magneto are ones I’d love.)
  14. I wish the theme had the attitude it did back in 2012/2013 (though that lack of attitude seems to be present in other Marvel merchandise and media as well, so it’s probably a brand issue and not a LEGO one specifically.) I miss how fresh and exciting those first two years of the theme were; in just those first two years we had fantastic comic book versions of Wolverine, Magneto, Deadpool, Spider-Man, Iron Fist, Doctor Doom, Venom, and many other great figures (they weren’t the comic versions, but they were good, new and exciting regardless.) I don’t mind the new Green Goblin and Spider-Man figures, but there’s much more exciting characters they could be doing instead. It’s also disheartening that, at least currently/presently, they’ve seemingly underrepresented the Marvel theme’s ten year anniversary.
  15. That’s disappointing; I would’ve loved comic book Ant Man and Wasp figures.
  16. I’m sure the answer to this question can be found earlier in the thread but I looked back a dozen or so pages and couldn’t find it, and thought it’d just be easier to ask (I hope that’s alright); what happened to that rumored comic book Ant Man and Wasp mechs set?
