I don’t know. Wolfpack was later, but they are pretty much done and complete as they made the torso and the shield. So they could reuse them like they did with the falcons in LKC. But there’s nothing really new or interesting about adding them other than making the shield more available. But they barely scratched the forestmen. There are three additional torsos, another color hat, three feathers. That would be something new and interesting to add. Though they could do both and have Wolfpack as a previously used torso to fill up minifigures without costing an additional print and still have a new FM as one of the new additions. Hope they let me recreate a modern version of this scene someday.

I don’t necessarily disagree. Don’t know how they base their decisions on these things. If they do it at all they might make a cheaper version. But I think there is pretty good evidence that it is better to err on the side of just unloading the bank and jacking up the price than becoming overly obsessed with keep the price down. Because I never thought I would spend so much on a LEGO set before LKC came out, but now I own two and will probably get another before it goes out. Whereas I was so disappointed with MTS that it was the first new castle set in recent years that I didn’t buy immediately. Just finally got it a couple months ago. And even though I usually get at least two of the castle sets now since they are so rare, I will probably get another before third LKC instead of another MTS.

If they were to make a Black Knight castle to replace LKC I don’t think they would be that strict on what they included. Don’t think it would be based solely on any one castle set. LKC was loosely inspired by past castles but not really an attempt to be a modern equivalent of anything specific. And they included things from all over the map. Like all those classic castle printed shields, some completely new shields, a new queen, and even having the Forestmen there. They were in some sets together but not the big castles unless you count the FM river fortress. BK and FM factions were available in the same period. Don’t think they were ever in the same set. But there was some catalogue art showing a massive invasion of black monarchs castle. Come to think of it. If they made a set based on that picture that would be awesome. I would spend a ton of money if they did that.

If they make a black castle to rival the LKC I hope they repeat the things that made that set so awesome and throw in a lot of cool new printed shields and torsos. There are still classic castle shields left that weren’t used in LKC in addition to the BK shield itself. And my red FM are really lonely ( even though there are probably 100 or more of them). If they are not going to do a FM set at least give another version of them blue, black, or plain with accompanying feather and brown hat. And I still want the double axe torso. One of many things that disappointed me so much about MTS was not including that.

I love the Forestmen. Seems others do too, since the prices and availability for the old sets are insane now. Love LKC. But did feel a bit like Charlie Brown flying through the air after Lucy pulled the football when I watched the designer video heard how close we came to have a giant modern Forestman set. I am guessing the most likely giant icon set will be Black Knights which I like too. But I hope they at least add another Forestman to that. I have too many modern red Forestmen. The Forestmen are not the Forestmen without some variety.

Does seem convenient that LKC retires this year and LEGO has a nostalgia contest where they pick an awesome black night set as one of the choices in to vote for a GWP that comes out next year. They replaced the castle 3 in 1 pretty quick after retiring it. Hoping they have similar plans to replace LKC as well.

Was thinking about dark green legs but not liking cutting off the continued printing. Brown arms might work if that looks good. Will have to compare these ideas side by side because I love the torso just not the overall look of the figures they made. I have tons of alternate helmets to choose from, so that part of it is no big deal.

Voted for Kraken but disappointed by the overall look. The brown helmet and legs make it look odd. The torso and shield are great. The helmet is so easy to fix it is not even worth complaining about in itself. But since the legs are printed to align with the torso that is more of an issue. Man, I wish they used the same color for the legs as the arms. That would look a lot better to me at least. Griffin looks awesome. Though I will switch the helmet.

Doesn’t look that similar to me. Different logo and different colors. Most importantly, the new one appears to be more of a fancy decoration than a shield. But if it reminds you of that one and you like it I don’t begrudge you that. Not constantly whining about Wolfpack and/or Black Knight. Just threw those out as examples of a more useful part. Not going to buy 50 of what we got off PAB. Just like not buying the queen torso like I would the double axe.

You missed MY point. I wasn’t talking about creative concepts like king or queen. Just purely about parts which I cannot create on my own like torso or shield prints. My only problem with the queen in LKC is that they used so many parts for that new character. Especially a wasted torso instead of the double axe. Would have annoyed me equally if it was a king or other new printed part hogging character. But even that did not bother me too much in that set because they gave so much already. Probably my favorite LEGO set. Have two. And God knows how much I spent on PAB. But in the new set we only get one printed shield. And again for that new character who already has a shield made just for her. And nothing else. So harder to overlook.

Forget all this budget and slot crap. Just a few basically neutral changes would vastly improve my opinion of the set. It is pretty rare that we get a nostalgia based castle set like this. Been more than a year since LKC. You decide we only get one new shield. OK. But why is it something with no nostalgic value at all. Nice. But if we only get one and you seem to be targeting older castle fans (and other buyers won’t care) why not give us something we were wanting and hoping for. If they had done a black knight or wolf pack shield would anyone be on here upset that we didn’t yet another new print dedicated to the queen who never existed before LKC. Greedy witch already has her own shield. Own torso. Even own barding.Some will say they like the new shield better than a redo of those or another. But seriously doubt anyone would have “missed” not getting that.

I think it is complete and extra white is on purpose for the visual effect. It is royal shield for the queen for display and decoration rather than combat. So white instead of gray with the gold in the logo and the fancy gold framing that doesn’t go to the edge. I would have preferred a gray one in one or both of the regular LK styles. But again I think they only wanted one to save money. Rather than choose blue or yellow they just gave another part for the queen.

This was one of my few complaints about the LKC. They really unloaded the bank on that one completely new character. Own torso. Shield. Helmet. Even barding was split to match her shield instead all red or all blue or both like I would prefer. Would have much preferred the much more modest addition of a double axe logo knight. Could have left everything other than the logo the same and would work. Now we still don’t get that. And yet another addition for the queen. Good to be the queen I guess.

I was just joking because MVR included the rare goat and rare gray horse. So was hoping to get the gray horse too. Haven’t watched the video yet. Wouldn’t be surprised if they selected the color for that reason though.

It was supposed to be a gray horse and a goat. They decided to consolidate and give us a gray goat to save money.
