Hi everyone,
I periodically see comments that "Lego trains do not sell well enough for Lego to want to make them" ... or "the Lego City train sets are too expensive for parents/grandparents to want to buy them for their kids (birthdays, xmas, etc)".
Okay, maybe I could believe that for a few seconds ... ... but then how does one justify the ever growing number of new $300+ (or even $500+) sets like the THREE football stadiums or the Roman Colosseum or even that Lego Ideas piano?
If Lego City trains don't sell well, then make more Lego train 18+ or specialty sets (like the Crocodile) and skip the "City" theme.
What if the trains do not sell well enough quantity to justify making them? I think the small run Lego Ideas line broke the mass quantity issue, and if they can make a Lego "Adidas" shoe (?!!), they can make a 3-in-1 train rolling stock set. I would easily buy at least six of those 3-in-1 sets ... just so I could have multiple cars.
What am I missing here? Are there more plastic shoe hobbyists out there than train hobbyists out there? Lego Ideas has a Lego "Air Jordan" shoe submitted ... if that gets approved, but the trains always get skipped, we may have our answer.
