It's been a while but, I've got an update: The Borders around here have Series 2 now..... @ $4 a pop!!! :(

I went by Target and Wal Mart on Sat: Target: 1 Howarts left, 2 Burrow, 3 Express. Wal Mart: I actually went twice, Before Noon: NOTHING. later, after 8pm: several unopened "Do Not Display Until 10/1" cases on a pallet. They were REALLY late in getting them on the shelf.

Gringotts is white ..... it looks pretty (LEGO-ified)spot on (IMO)

I already planned to mod the MMV into Hogsmeade...... This will look great on the display shelf alongside the rest.

Just my opinion but ...... BEST SET EVER. And i'm not saying best HP set, best LEGO set. A - FREAKING - MAZING

"Worth the Hype?" That is an interesting question, and one that I'm sure you'll get many, many different answers to.... Ultimately I'm sure the success will point to a resounding "YES" but for the individual FOL, if is a personal decison. For me I'd say yes they are well worth the $2 - $3 is spent on the few (very few) that i've been able to find. The characters are appealing and do lend themselves to great MOCs excetera. For me the downfall is the shoddy distribution, and the scarce availabilty of the figures. I understand and even like the "limited edition/collectible" aspect of them but if they figs are a blind drwm, they should be at least semi abundant. I've purchased a total of 9 figures and only seen perhaps a total of 20 bags..... That is not reasonable. I have looked no lessthan 4 times per week in several different stores and have had, as you can see, little luck. I know the easy way to remedy this would be to buy a full case But my LEGO dollar is stretched a bit too thin to justify a $120+ purchase of 60 figs.

This may be a silly question but are the builds for 3221 and 7848 EXACTLY the same? I assume so but just wanted to be sure. Nice review BTW, good clear pics and great explanations!

I too got the TRU mail and was flabbergasted to see the insane mark up. I expect the typical +$5 that is now standard at TRU but OMG..... $15 for a $10 set? +$10 on the Burrow and Hogwarts express? +$20!!! on Hogwarts? Double U Tee Eff

I haven't seen them yet, and I only saw the 1st series a couple times....... Where are you in the PS?

My daughters (almost 10 and almost 3) both love castle stuff... Like many above me in this thread, I have the MMV and they both enjoy the dollhouse aspects of the civillian buildings and the girls in dresses. My youngest will routinely build a massive stack of duplo 2x2 bricks and carry it around calling it her "castle" I think the nature of castle really lends itself to femine imagination.

I collect most everything..... The last 4 (more expensive than $15) sets I've purcahsed/been given as a gift were: Lunar Limo MMV Endor Brickbeard's Bounty On my display shelf im my dining room i have, as we "speak", I have: BBB Endor AT-ST, Ewok Glider, Catapult and the pair of Speederbikes Chauchilla Cemetary Manta Warrior x2 Hyperspeed Pursuit Container Heist Raid VPR Freeze Ray Frenzy Collectible Minifig Skater MMV I have really no rhyme nor reason to my collections, I just get what I like!

Perhaps the "merging" refers to the large scale KK2 type figs? It would stand to reason that, insted of releasing multiple "action figure" lines, they would consolidate them all under one heading.

I simply LOVE this set..... Sure it's short on extras an the like but it's got a WAMPA!! It's a bit overpriced but I will by it none-the-less.....

While, I'll agre that it's not Classic Space or even Neo Classic. It IS built with classic priciples.

With all the pics of Nate's creations and the subsquent tributes to his iconic style, it brings to mind something i've wondered for a LONG time... Who was the first to build "sideways" and use brick-built wings and fins as opposed to plate built ones? For reference: Classic style "vertical", plate built fighter: Nnenn (among others) -esque "horizontal", bick built fighters: RIP Nate. My thoughts and prayers are with your family .............

Friday my MMV was delivered and the previous Saturday I got Endor.
